Up for sale is a very well maintained 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel This is a very well maintained example of a bullet proof 12 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel. This truck shows 315,000 miles and for those who know this type of engine, you know it is just getting broken in good. The truck is powered by the very reliable Cummins 5.9 12 Valve Turbo Diesel engine - known to exceed 500,000 miles before recommended rebuild - but I know of people who have over 1,000,000 on the original engine that has not been rebuilt. This engine is bone stock and is mated to a smooth shifting 4 speed automatic transmission. All gears forward and reverse work properly - no strange noises, no slipping. The transmission shifts into overdrive and the truck is only turning 2,000 RPM at 72 MPH. This Ram 2500 has the 3.5 axel ratio with limited slip rear end. The engine starts off of the factory glow plug system and all relays work properly. The engine starts on the first try every time, even in single digit temperatures like we had last week. There is no excess smoke at startup. There is no blowby when the engine is at operating temperature. The engine does not leak or consume oil - it does not drip oil on the pavement where you park it. The turbo spools properly when under a load and does not produce excess black smoke in the exhaust. This truck has cruise control that funtions properly. This truck has power steering which provides effortless steering control. All fluids and filters have been changed in the last 5,000 miles to include engine oil and filter, fuel filter, the transmission fluid and filter and the front and rear end dope. The starter and serpentine belt are also brand new. This truck also has a brand new master cylinder, brand new front rotors, brand new front calipers and the brakes stop with no shimy, shake, or fade. The steering is tight and does not have any excessive play in it - the truck is well aligned. The interior is in good condition for a this type of truck. The dash only has one small crack - not cracked to pieces like most are - please see pics for details. The front seats have matching covers and the rear seat was covered in plastic since day 1 and does not have rips, stains, etc.. The headliner is sagging a little. The dome lights function properly. The door panels are clean and are not torn or ripped . The 4WD transmission shift boot is uncracked and the knob is in very good condition. The carpet is in tact and is covered with black plastic / rubber flooring material that is easy to keep clean. The AM/FM tape /radio is factory and is paired up with factory speakers. Driver and passenger power windows roll up and and down smoothly and are in great shape. The windshield is brand new - none of the glass has cracks, chips, dings, pits, scratches, etc....There are no strange smells in the interior. The heater core has been replaced with a new Dodge heater core and should provide years of trouble free service. The fan blower works on all speeds as it should. This truck is also equiped with properly working air conditioning. The exterior of the truck is completly rust free. The underside of the truck only exhibits minor surface rust - there is no rust thru or anything close to being a major problem. The black factory paint is still in tact and shiny on most body panels but the hood and roof have oxidized spots common with Dodge paint. There are scratches, oxidation, and stains in the paint on this truck - there is not any rust, major dents, or any signs that the truck has ever been in an accident. All chrome is in nice condition and shines without rust pitting on both bumpers, hub caps and emblems. The tires are brand new Maxxis Big Horn Mud Terrain 255/85 - around 35" and have less than 1,000 miles on them. All lights appear to work properly. This truck also has a draw tite receiver hitch but has never had a fifth wheel - the truck only towed lighweight trailers. The long bed is extra handy when going to fetch wood at the hardware store, antiques, landscape supplies, etc. The bed liner is also another nice feature.
