Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 Normal 0 1982 VW WESTFALIA TURBO-DIESEL CAMPER VAN I am selling my 1982 VW Diesel Westfalia camper. It has a full title, has 2010 California registration, it is smog-exempt and has the potential to be run on BIO-DIESEL. The original engine was replaced with a rebuilt 1.9 LITER TURBO-DIESEL ENGINE approximately 200 miles ago. This is a California rust-free van. I took the vehicle to have it detailed and buffed and the detailers told me that the only way to make is shine was to have it repainted. So I had it painted the original pastel-yellow and it now looks absolutely stunning! The body and interior are in excellent condition and the drive-train runs very well. The van has the potential to be converted to run on BIO-DIESEL ( just a few hoses need to be added). All of the utilities (stove, fridge and sink) work well. The pop-top canvas was just replaced with a brand new 3-window Go-Westy canvas kit and the pop-top seals and front cargo area seals were replaced at the same time. Recent upgrades include the addition of an air-cooled higher-geared transmission - to facilitate higher freeway speeds, the installation of a set of original Volkswagen rims, Wolfsburg wheel covers and heavy-duty 6-ply load-rated truck tires. The headlights were converted from a two headlight system to the later 4-seal-beam headlight assemblies found on all 1986-1991 Vanagons and Westfalias. Something To Consider: This was the only year that VW made a Westfalia van with a DIESEL engine. It's also very desirable because the DIESEL engine can be easily converted to run on BIO-DIESEL. Another thing, the diesel engine has much better fuel economy than a gasoline engine ( 28-30 mpg vs. 21-23 mpg for the gasoline driven engines). Either way... this is a very desirable van in EXCELLENT RUNNING CONDITION.
