We just came across another exceptional RX-8 to offer our great eBay Customers after receiving it in from a Puget Sound Ford Dealer. Seems the original owners felt they needed something more “family oriented”. (I can’t imagine going from a 245+ HP road rocket to a suspension-squishy Euro grocery getter, but maybe the owner was tired of the wife getting all those speeding tickets!) Yes, this six-speed lightning bolt truly is the REAL DEAL. For the past few weeks I’ve been cruising around in it almost daily – and what a blast to drive! With its 50/50 weight distribution, dynamic stability control and low center of gravity this thing reminds me of the Detroit muscle cars I’ve owned, only a WHOLE lot more comfortable and fun to drive! Those sixties rigs may have had more low-end torque, but none could ever remotely come close to a 9,000 RPM redline and the 1.3 liter RENESIS engine does it all with only five moving parts! With only 51,000 original miles on the clock the drive train is really only now getting warmed up. The owners have left us their maintenance receipts and all the factory books will be locked away for you in the glove compartment. Because this is the top-of-the-line touring addition, the interior has heated black/red leather seats (the driver’s is power eight-way); matching door panels; a Bose 300 watt, nine speaker sound system with in-dash six CD changer and steering wheel controls; Autodim rearview mirror and the one touch slid-back Moonroof. Outside you’’ find auto leveling HID Xenon headlights, foglamps, heated power mirrors; 18-inch Alloys with large brakes; Dynamic Stability/Traction Control; Tochigi Fuji limited slip differential and a more highly sport-tuned suspension. Standard features include: four-wheel ABS, Brake Force Distribution, six airbags, A/C, power windows, door locks and steering. I know you’ll be pleased with the short-throw six-speed transmission and tight clutch on this Road Rocket. They operate just as they should – absolutely no slippage. Don’t you love the factory billet aluminum pedal covers and footrest? Yes, I’m sure this thing can still do zero to 60 in 6.6 and top out at 120 MPH+, just like when new. Drive it conservatively and you’ll probably get the advertised 23 MPG from it. Just about everybody can appreciate the sleek body style Mazda gave these cars when they wisely brought back a rotary. I love their long hood, short rear deck and subtle four-door design! The strong twin-rotor roar, tight road suspension and overall fun of this RX-8 will have you wanting to start a road trip tomorrow! When you combine its color, great looks and aggressive stance this rice burning little rocket turns heads EVERYWHERE it goes - and is it ever fun to tool around in! CONDITION: The photos really do tell the story. It has the factory red paint – absolutely the perfect color for this car! Flip on the air conditioning system and it blows ice cold! Rust? Please, cars here in the Pacific Northwest hate body rust and I find NO evidence of any here! Yes, we get a bit of drizzly Seattle rain, but hardly ever any snow so our low land winter roads are never salted. Climb over, under and around this Mazda - I know you’ll come up smiling! Please take another good look at the interior pictures. The dual-color leather upholstery both front and rear is very near perfect. My recollection is that the combination is unique to the six-speed Touring Edition. The factory carpet is also in good, original condition – no stains and is protected by the original factory carpet mats. All door panels are in excellent shape too. Yes, the interior headliner material is also in great condition. Being driven daily, I feel that mechanically the RX-8 is in fine shape. The brakes feel firm with those big disks all around behind the 18-inch factory five-star alloys. About the only negatives I can think to point to are a few small nicks and paint scratches. All will be air-brushed away before the car goes to it’s new owner. The low-profile 225/45R18 Dunlop Direza radials are are still in fine shape.
