Vehicle Detail
1999 Jeep Cherokee 4WD, 4.0, Auto, PW, PL, Air, Cruise, Tilt, CD,Keyless Entry This is a clean, 1 owner vehicle with a clear title that has been very well maintained and has many miles left in it. There has been no previous bodywork other than some minor touch up over the years with a small brush applicator, only some minor surface rust (no holes) and very solid mechanically. This Jeep was purchased from Zimbrick Jeep, Madison WI. in 1998 and highway driven exclusively by a non smoking adult, NO OFF ROAD USE, NO TOWING. This jeep is equipped with Cooper MS ice and snow tires, engine block heater, and good battery, this is an excellent winter commuter vehicle and is easy on gas, 18-22mpg on the highway. This is not a detailed & polished unknown history car at a dealership, I have owned it and maintained it since new and will be able to answer any questions you may have. To prep it for sale I ran it through the car wash and took pics, even with just a wash it looks pretty nice yet, with a little armor all and a good paste wax this Jeep would only look better. I have included pictures of the bottom rocker panels, rear hatch, and doors, these tend to be the rust problem spots on Jeep Cherokees, as you can see by the pics, this is a very solid car yet, This vehicle has been inspected mechanically and here are the details: Snow/Ice Tires 9/32 of tread left Front brakes- Full service @ 145000, New pads, rotors, calipers Rear Brakes- Full service @ 165000, New drums and shoes U Joints good, front U joints replaced with serviceable type @ 145000 and greased every other oil change since Anti Freeze tests to -40F Battery Load tested 600cc amps Radiator hoses good Front Axle- Fluid very clean, changed 3 times since new and no visible leaks Rear Axle- Fluid minor discoloration, changed 3 times since new and no visible leaks Transfer Case- Shifts good, fluid clean & changed annually Transmission- Shifts smooth, no problems, fluid clean and flushed 3 times since new. Exhaust- No leaks, muffler and tailpipe replaced 2 years ago Front Suspension- Shocks good, tie rods and ball joints all tight with minor play beginning to start in passenger side ball joints(cannot be noticed while driving...just being honest) Rear Suspension- Shocks good, rear springs sag a bit (common problem with Cherokee) 4WD works well, no abnormal noise Serpentine Belt- excellent Engine- No abnormal Noise, uses no oil, starts, runs, and drives well, Oil changed every 3000mi Underside- No damage or sign of off road use Keeping in mind that this is a 10+ year old vehicle with almost 175000 miles on it, there are some signs of wear I have listed below Passenger side window was working intermittently from the passenger side switch, this is another common problem with late model Cherokees & I located to problem wire and jiggled it and the window has been working fine for several months but may cause a problem again at some point. The window has always worked fine from the driver's side switch and I can show the purchaser which wire is the problem upon sale and they can fix it or continue to jiggle it if the problem comes back. Appears to be a bad connection in the wiring harness. The rear leaf springs have some sag to them which under the right conditions can make you feel a minor "bump" in the rear of the car from spring wrap when you stop or start out quickly. This was a problem that was noticed at about 90,000 miles, the mechanic at that time told me I could replace the springs or if I could live with the occasional minor "bump" that it would not likely cause me any issues. 80,000mi later there have been no problems with the springs. There are pages of information on the internet about this issue if you have concerns & would like to check. 4wd Indicator light on the dash works intermittently, 4WD itself works fine Small oil leak in rear main engine seal, not enough to need to add any oil, just enough to see from undernieth, has not left any puddles in the driveway. The interior of this Jeep is in very good to excellent condition, there are no tears or rips in the seat, no cracks in the dashboard, no sagging headliner, floor/carpet is in good clean condition for a 11 year old car. New windshield installed 10 days ago due to stone damage. Personally I would rather not sell this Jeep as it is unlikely that I would be able to find another vehicle of similar quality for what I will get for it, however at the present time the money is more important to me than the car. The reserve is set competitively with what I have been offered by an auto wholesaler for this vehicle. I have done my best to give you an very honest account about the vehicle you are looking at, if there is something you would like more detail on feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you. This is a nice SUV that would require nothing to be used daily for commuting or a long trip & in far better shape mechanically than many others I have driven with far less miles.
