Vehicle Detail
’63 B Super 90 Coupe C Prototype Factory Test Car This very special coupe 123709 was produced 4/18/63 and went directly to the vehicle development department at Porsche. It remained as a test mule for the next 20 months until it was sold 12/22/64. The factory has confirmed this fact on the COA and by email. The COA states that the car is a 356C while my email contact felt that the car should be referred to as a 356B due to it’s serial number sequence. Either way the car is a very interesting piece of history and very unusual. 123709 was found in the Mid West by a very knowledgeable 356 enthusiast that recognized it’s unusual features. The car then underwent a professional restoration that was completed 5 years ago. The original Ruby red with black vinyl and Mouse gray corduroy was retained. The original transmission remains in the car but the correct S90 engine has been replaced with another S90 engine. 123709 has the following 356C features... front hood latch disc brakes-with one of a kind prototype front calipers hand brake warning light and combi gauge straight pull heater control rear seat backs with lip rear window defroster vents rocker dome lights courtesy light at center bottom of dash pad inside rear view mirror short rear torsion bars flat un-crested hubcaps dated 3/63 extra special leather passenger grab handle-not pebble plastic arm rests without chrome pulls 123709 has the following 356B features... front seats S90 tach dash switch layout no painted panel under ashtray generally-the rest of the car Things of note... car has superb European heat European amber front turn lens and low rear reflectors European headlights fresh transmission with 4C gear for relaxed highway travel strong engine with dyno results to confirm Koni shocks 1720cc-otherwise stock Michelin tires Nardi steering wheel I have driven this car over 20,000 miles in the past 4 years including a 5,000 mile trip to the Sedona WCH. Everything on this car works correctly and to the highest standard. It has just gone through a high level detailing and looks gorgeous. There is one star in the paint where a stone hit hard inside the front fender. Otherwise...no excuses. This car has experienced 5 years of substantial use with no paint eruptions...no surprises. This wonderful car looks great, drives great, and is unique. $65,000
