SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR PICTURES. THERE ARE MANY PHOTOS!THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION NO RESERVE NO RESERVE NO RESERVE Up for auction is a great running 1960 Ford Country Sedan 6 Passenger Station Wagon! If you've wanted a Vintage Station Wagon and especially a 1960 Ford Country Sedan Wagon then you know how difficult they are to find. Here is a very cool Factory Two-Tone Paint 1960 Country Sedan. This very Original 1960 Ford Country Sedan Wagon is a fun driver as well as being a great runner! Just turn the key and fire up the healthy 292-4V engine and let this baby sing through the duals.....sounds awesome! This 1960 Ford Wagon was purchased from an old Ford Collector out in Arizona and before that this Wagon spent many years in Albuquerque New Mexico with another old Ford enthusiast. It still has the old License Plate on the front bumper from "The Old Car Club of Albuquerque" which appears to have been on this 1960 Ford Country Sedan Wagon for many years. The previous owner had the engine in this 1960 Ford Wagon rebuilt within the last 2 years and man does it run good. The engine is an awesome running Ford 292 "Y" Block with some Performance upgrades. The engine has less than 1500 miles on it since the rebuild and the rebuild included some mild porting and polishing to the cylinder heads with New or Rebuilt Valvetrain, New .30 Pistons, Solid Lifter Comp Cams Camshaft, Ford 4 Barrel Intake Manifold with New Edelbrock Carburetor and Ram Style Exhaust Manifolds with Full Dual Exhaust. The engine wears Chrome Valve Covers with the Thunderbird V8 Decals and a Chrome Unsilenced Air Cleaner although I have the original Valve Covers and Air Cleaner which will be included with the car if you'd like them. The Exhaust Manifolds were Bead Blasted while the engine was out for Rebuilding and they look great and are still in their natural finish with part numbers and date codes clearly readable. The Wagon is equipped with Power Brakes and Manual Steering! This 1960 Ford's "Y" Block 292 engine sounds absolutely awesome with that wonderfully distinct sound of a well tuned Solid Lifter Engine. The upgraded Comp Cams Camshaft is also quick to introduce itself at idle with a slightly choppy idle that sounds awesome through the dual ehxuast. The engine starts easily and runs very strong with no unusual noise or smoke...just a great running Y Block! The engine pulls the Wagon along just fine, whether your cruising around town or heading down the highway. The Overdrive Transmission works great with no problems and it really makes the difference with this cars 3.89 rear as the RPM's drop substantially when the Overdrive is engaged at highway speeds. Everything on this car works from the Gauges, Speedometer and Odometer, Headlights, Brake Lights, Turn Signals, Reverse Lights, Gas Gauge, Temperature Gauge, Original AM Radio, Interior Dome Light, Dash Lights, Windshield Wipers, Heater and Defroster, Parking Lights, Taillights, There is even an old school Sun Blue Line Oil Pressure Gauge mounted under the Dash which shows the car holding 80lbs.+ of Oil Pressure at idle which comes down to 45lbs or so once she's warmed up. There is also a Vintage Sun Tach Mounted under the Dash. I cant tell you whether the cigarette lighter works as I have not tried it. The engine compartment is very Original with the Factory Paint still showing nicely on the Firewall and the Original Windshield Washer Bag "See Clear" on the Passenger side. This 1960 Ford Wagon is a very good driving vehicle and is a lot of fun to cruise around town ....a serious head turner with its unusual body lines and cool fins out back This old Wagon is very Original for the most part including what I believe to be most of its Original Two-Tone Factory Paint. The Paint appears to be White in many of the photos but is actually Adriatic Green on the Body and Corinthian White on the Roof...the Door Tags shows the Paint or Color Code as "WM1" The Adriatic Green body paint is a very Pale Green and would look awesome if it were fresh although it does shine up some with a fresh waxing as can be seen in the first few photos. The Wagon is solid for a 50 year old vehicle thats never had any restoration outside of some mechanical rebuilding. The previous owner had the front floors repaired and the car has a little bubbling at the very bottom of the drivers side front fender(minor) and the rear quarter drop-offs have some rust but otherwise it appears to be a very solid original Southwest wagon. I have had several early 60's Ford Full Size Wagons over the years and these cars were prone to rust although this 60 Country Sedan is better than most unrestored originals and Im guessing that its many years out West are what kept the old Wagon fairly solid. The Lower quarter panels are solid underneath the Washboard trim and the car has a real nice solid frame as well. The Tailgate is very solid. The body has the battle scars of 50 years of use with some bumps, bruises, scrapes, dings, dents and scratches etc etc. Even with its age clearly showing, this is still a very cool wagon! The car is 100% complete with no trim missing. The Glass is all Original and fairly good except for a crack in the passenger side wing window which is an easy piece to get as its the same for all models for 1960 and 1961 or so Im told. The long rear side glass is excellent as is the original Tailgate Glass. I only mention this because I have seen several 1960 Ford Wagons with cracked side glass. This car has good glass and all windows roll up and down properly and all doors open and close just fine. The interior is all Original except for the front seat which was replaced with a nice pair of bucket seats from a newer Ford Crown Victoria. The seats are amazingly clean, confortable and fit in this car like they were made for it....they are the perfect height and are super comfortable when your cruising down the highway! Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have the original seat installed in this Wagon but unfortunately its no longer with the car but its the same as any 1960-1961 Ford Fairlane or Galaxie 2 Door or 4 Door sedan or Wagon so it is not a difficult piece to get should you want to return an original Bench seat to the front of this Wagon. The Back Seat folds Up and Down properly to allow for a larger Cargo area. The Back Seat is in pretty good shape although it could stand a good cleaning. The Seat folds down on both sides and has the Original locking mechanism in place. The Headliner is Nice which is important in these old Wagons as they can be difficult to find and expensive to replace. The Door Panels are all in pretty nice condition and can be left as is in my opinion and the Dash is clean and Original with a nice Instrument Cluster and all Original Dash Components intact. The car will need New Carpets. The Rear Cargo area is all Original and serviceable although the Vinyl coverings are showing their age....all there and not horrible but showing its age. Of course one of the cool things about the Cargo area in these old Wagons is that they are quite easy to restore with simple and inexpensive materials. You can just clean it up and leave it alone if you like as it is by no means offensive. The Spare Tire Well is really clean in this Wagon and one of the most solid Ive ever seen on an old Wagon and especially in a 1960 Ford Wagon as these cars seem to rust heavily in the spare tire well....not this one.....super solid clean original. The Tailgate is also a really solid piece on this Wagon and this is one of those things that you can almost count on replacing...not this one...super solid and clean....open with the Glass out and up and the Tailgate Door Down.....operates perfectly. The Tailgate Glass comes up and locks into position properly while the Tailgate Folds down as it should.....everything works just fine. This car runs great and is 100% driveable and roadworthy just the way it is. The car steers fine and the brakes work well. This is a car that can be used just the way she is although the old Wagon would benefit from your personal touch or even restoration if your so inclined. I was going to do a few more things to the old Wagon but several of my friends suggested that I should leave it as it is...maybe install some Smoothie Chrome Wheels and have it Pinstriped? Its certainly a car that can be confidently driven just the way she sits and looks super cool with those wild rear quarter panels and the very unique frontend.....very cool car for sure. The Wheels are 15" Steel wheels with Custom Lancer style Wheel Covers and they give the car a cool and unique Custom look. I would like to see the car with a set of Vintage Smoothies wheels or Cragar S/S wheels or even Original Ford Dog Dish Style Hubcaps would be kind of cool. The point being that there are many ways to add your personal touch to this old Wagon and make it your own without spending big money! Oh, almost forgot... The Wagon is equipped with Manual Steering and Power Brakes! It also has the Optional AM Radio, Dual Accessory Mirrors and Back-Up Lights which are still working! Im not sure but I believe the glass is factory tinted glass in this Wagon but Im not 100% sure. I will check again and make the proper revisions to the auction. This 1960 Ford Country Sedan 6 Passenger Wagon is a very good running car with the engine rebuilt and the brakes gone over last year....new steel brake lines, wheel cylinders replaced, master cylinder rebuilt....new fuel pump and fuel line, water pump replaced....new motor mounts...new brake light sending unit...expansion tank restored...generator rebuilt and more. The 292 runs beautifully and the transmission shifts fine....original Overdrive works exactly as it should with no issues. The car is a turnkey driver that cruises smoothly down the highway at 70 mph with no problem. This is a car that you can personalize and enjoy while deciding if you'd like to take it to another level. Its a strong runner and there are no mechanical issues that I am aware of although you can always count on something that will need fixing. This Wagon would be a great car to restore if thats what you wanted or as I said earlier, just personalize it and do some upgrades while you enjoy driving it....either way, this is a great running 1960 Ford Wagon with loads of character! You can be fairly sure that you'll be the only guy at your local Cruise Night gathering with a 1960 Ford Wagon should you end up as this cars new owner. You just dont see 1960 Ford Wagons and forget about anybody knowing what the car is.....nobody seems to recognize these cars but when they do, its usually a diehard Ford guy with his own 1960 Ford story to share. I will be listing 2 of my other Wagons in the next month or so. This might be a cool stablemate for your 1960 Starliner 1961 Starliner 1960 Galaxie 1962 Galaxie 1957 Del Rio 1963 Galaxie 500 XL 406 427 or whatever cool cars you have tucked away in your garage. One last thing, the interior in this Wagon is actually pretty darn original outside of the front Bench Seat being swapped out for the buckets. The interior is in decent original condition with fairly good original door panels, really nice original Dash and a nice original headliner. The Cargo area looks bad in the pictures and it does show its age but its not bad for a 50 year old Wagon. The Garnish Moldings are real nice and the wheelhouse covers are decent once they are cleaned up. There is some shrinkage on the rear floor coverings but still better than most 50 year old wagons. The car is 100% complete and everything or just about everything works properly from all of the lights to the heater, wipers, etc etc.... just a good indication of how this car was cared for in my opinion. Do you love the look, shape and design of the rear Tailgate Glass? What a cool design!! I love the body lines on these cars from the rear fins which work their way into the tailgate to the shape of the back window and the trim on the top of the fenders to the Taillight Design and the Back Bumpers....these cars have serious character. These 60 Fords are just way cool... Thanks again!!! SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PICTURES!!!!! As you can see the old Wagon does clean up with a good waxing although the dings, scratches and scrapes seem to blend into the pictures. These first couple of pictures were taken when the car was in Arizona! The Adriatic Green Body Paint and Corinthian White Roof Make for an Attractive Combination! Those Amazing 1960 Ford Rear Quarters... Fins for sure and nothing else like them! The first pictures were taken while the Wagon was still in Arizona but it has been in Pennsylvania since May . I am pressed for space and need to make some room so I will be offerings several of my old Wagons on ebay. Clean Original Instrument Cluster with Nice Original Speedometer and original Trim. Everything in this 60 Ford Wagon works as it should. The Original Dash is in Good shape and the Original AM Radio still works! Good Original Frontend with Cool 1960 Grill and very Cool Parking Lights and Fender Mounted Bulls Eye Ornaments. Check out the vintage "Old Car Club Of Albuquerque" Licence Plate thats on the Front Bumper. It appears to have been there for many years! The Glass goes Up and Locks in place and the Tailgate Folds Down Properly although I didnt get a good photo with the Tailgate Down. The Headliner is in really Good shape and is not hanging nor does it have any serious damage. The Back seat Locks in the Up Position and Folds Down to make the Cargo area considerably larger. The Hinge area for the Rear Glass is Excellent with no rust issues. The Rear Cargo Vinyl Covering is showing its age although it doesnt look bad when its cleaned up. This picture shows it when it was dusty and needing to be cleaned. Take a look at all of the Garnish Moldings around the Glass inside the car...very good original. Original Warranty or Patent Plate shows 71F Body Code for the Country Sedan 6 Passenger Wagon 2 Tone Paint "WM1" Adriatic Green & Corinthian White, Trim Code "44" Beige Interior, Date Code "11H" August 11, 1959 Scheduled Build Date, Code "2" Overdrive Transmission , Code "2" 3.89 Axle 1960 Ford Country Sedan 9 Passenger Wagon shown in Original 1960 Brochure! 1960 Country Sedan Wagon 6 Passenger in Meadowvale Green with Corinthian White Roof! 1960 Country Sedan Wagon in Yosemite Yellow and a Montecarlo Red Ranch Wagon! On Dec-10-10 at 20:16:48 PST, seller added the following information: Thanks for the questions, emails, bids and for your phone calls. Ive enjoyed talking with you diehard 1960 Ford guys!!! Its amazing just how many 60 Ford guys are out there! You guys have been an absolute pleasure to talk to and your enthusiasm is so contageous that it makes me want to pull the auction and keep the car!!!! I just wanted to add further information about this Ford Country Sedan Wagon as Im not sure I covered as much of the car as I would have liked. The car runs very well as Ive said several times. This 1960 Ford Wagon has amazing character and character is something that individual cars have...this one has just that....character and this baby is screaming COOL!!! Imagine this old Wagon with a fresh coat of its Original Adriatic Green/Corinthian White Roof.....Maybe just leave it alone if you dig that old original look. I certainly think its cool but unusual enough to be worthy or a freshening or resto...whatever you like. It sure runs awesome and is a blast to drive with that great running 292. The previous owner is a hardcore Ford guy who is heavily into High Performance Ford's and he owns some serious Hot Rods from Street cars with insane Horsepower to Drag cars....this guy is in his 70's and loves to go fast! The story on the engine is kind of interesting. The previous owner is very friendly with the owner of the local engine shop. The owner of the shop has built quite a fewFord High Performance engines for this Wagons previous owner. This Diehard Ford guy got a call from his engine shop telling him that they had a Hot little 292 engine that a customer had built and then didnt have the funds to pay for. The 292 was built using some of the old school tricks that the builder picked up while building many a hot rod Y Block over the years. Anyway.....engine is built and on the engine stand when the Wagons owner gets the call about this little 292 and he purchases the engine for this Wagon and pulls the original 292 and installs the Freshly Built HIPO 292...He thought about installing a Tripower but it ran so darn good that he left it as it was built with the 4 barrel, Comp Cams solid lifter camshaft, .30 over....new parts top to bottom.....nothing radical but a darn strong running 292 for sure. The Wagon is an Original 292 Y Block car as per the Vin number and not a converted six cylinder like many of the 60 Wagons,,,not that there is anything wrong with conversions....just wanted to make it clear that this is an original 292 car with the factory Overdrive Transmission and the factory 3.89 gears. The car runs well and drives just fine. This Wagon is wearing most of its original paint but is thin in places...nonetheless a very cool looking wagon and very Original for the most part. By the way, the factory color Adriatic Green with the Corinthian White Roof is a way cool color combination and even if your not a fan of this color, rest assured if you see this color on a car when its newly painted you would surely appreciate this cool period color...this color screams late 50's,,,,early 60's and I love it! The car is very original...not perfect as its got its share of patina, bumps, bruises, etc etc... interior is all original except for the front seat which was swapped out for the buckets and the door panels are very Cool in their Original Gold, Tan and Parchment Tri-Color.......back seat needs a cleaning but in good shape.....headliner is nice. The car drives well up the highway and I had it on a 204 mile roundtrip on a very Hot day over the Summer. The Wagon drives great at 70 mph and was ran great while cruising down the PA Turnpike......it was about the only time I'd taken the car any distance but it was fine and performed well...no problems...no overheating.....steers fine although it drives like a 1960 era vehicle and not a new car. I have several other Wagons so I didnt get to use the 60 as much as I would have liked but whenever I did get to drive this baby, it was trouble free and always started easily, runs strong and was fun to drive. The car is 50 years old which is certainly part of its charm in my opinion. This 1960 Ford is running at No Reserve and will be a good car for somebody who wants to enjoy driving a vintage wagon or tinkering with it and making it their own. Part of the fun is doing little things to make this old Wagon your own!!! Personalize it with either wheels, interior mods, Pinstriping or whatever your into....... As I mentioned earlier, the front floor pans were repaired and were done in an amateur manner so you can certainly do a nicer job if you'd like or just install the new carpets and drive the car. The rear Floor Pans and Cargo area look fine. The Dash and Gauges are all is working order as are all of the Lights, Wipers, Radio, Heater.......a cool 50 year old Wagon that you wont have to rewire!!! The engine compartment shows many of the new pieces installed and the engine is fresh...brakes were gone over..... transmission shifts fine, Overdrive is excellent and easy to operate...a real piece of cake for the guys who are not familiar with the Overdrive...just pull the knob and its engaged and makes a huge difference bringing the rpm's down to a comfortable range for highway driving or leave the Overdrive off when cruising around town and make this little 292 powered Wagon scoot with its 3.89 gears. If you look at the first 4 photos, you'll notice that the paint looks nice and shiney.....these photos were taken while the car was still at its prior owners home in Arizona and as you can see the old Wagon cleans up and shines with a good detailing but these pictures also let the cars imperfections blend away into the paint. When you look at the many larger photos that were taken near by home, you can see that the old Wagons paint is thinning and its imperfections show themselves much clearer. This old Wagon has incredible personality and is outright fun.....looks cool and even though it would benefit from some freshening, its still a really cool old Wagon that runs great and turns heads because of its unusual nature....lets face it..... when is the last time you saw a 60 Ford Wagon cruising down the road? Its been awhile, huh? These old Wagons are about as hot as it gets and a Wagon with Fins is always a big hit whether they are aged originals or restored. People just dig these Finned Wagons. Please feel free to call me or email me for more pictures of with any questions. I would like to see this Wagon go to a good home with somebody who loves 60 Fords or to somebody who wants a vintage Wagon to have some fun with or freshen it up, restore, drive, whatever...just enjoy... Thanks again... tony 215-499-2693 email tonyhemi63@aol.com Good Luck and let me know if I can help with questions, concerns or whatever! On Dec-11-10 at 17:33:19 PST, seller added the following information: I just wanted to add a few more things to address some of the questions that I have received. This is an Original Unrestored 1960 Ford Country Sedan 6 Passenger Wagon. If you think this is a mint unrestored show car then you should consider looking elsewhere as this is just a cool original car that runs and drives good. These 1960 Wagons are very tough to find in any condition let alone nice survivor condition so keep in mind that this one is a driver that could be restored or taken to the next level or driven while you improve it.....the skys the limit!!! Just a a little note... earlier this year I saw a very nice low mile Original Paint Survivor 1961 Country Sedan Wagon for sale and that car was priced at $31,000...... these old Ford Wagons will bring a premium for Nice Original Unrestored Survivors. Keep this in mind as you bid on this Wagon! My Wagon will be Sold at NO RESERVE and the High Bidder will be the next Owner of this 60 Ford Wagon!!!! I have received many emails and phone calls asking about the condition of the body and I thought I had made it fairly clear in the auction but just in case you might have missed something, well here we go again. The body is unrestored and appears to wear most of its Original Paint which is called Adriatic Green and Corinthian White. The paint is thinning and with most of its life spent in the Southwest, its been exposed to plenty of sun(New Mexico and Arizona) which will wreak havoc on old paint as well as interiors. While the paint is old and tired, it will take a shine if waxed but it doesnt last very long unless you stay on top of it.....its probably best to consider some restoration if not a complete restoration unless you dig the patina then just enjoy it as it is. The exterior of the car does not show any rust that I am aware of outside of some surface stuff from scratches ....I dont think there is any corrosion on the exterior of the car! There is however a small bubble at the bottom on the drivers side front fender and there is probably some other very minor stuff that I might be missing here but absolutely nothing on the cars exterior that would bother or worry me. The underside has some rust but not the type of rust that we see here in Pennsylvania on cars that originated here,,,,,,,,cars from PA can get pretty crusty and scaley but thats not the case here. There is some rust on what I called the lower drop-offs which are the inner skin that meets the quarter panel. This is very common on these cars. The Lower quarter panels look good and solid overall and the Original Washboard trim looks to be pretty decent and definitely good enough for a driver or great for restoration. The front floor pans were repaired in an amateur fashion and could be gone over if your so inclined or you could simply install your new carpeting and leave it alone. Its not a professional repair but its secure. There is some rust around the passenger side mount in the middle of the car but an easy repair. Most importantly, The Frame is nice and solid!!! The Trim on the car is all there with absolutely nothing missing although its the original trim and not perfect with some bumps, scrapes, etc etc. The 292 Engine is Rebuilt and Runs great!!!!! The engine runs very good and the transmission shifts fine. The exhaust manifolds were bead blasted and installed with new hardware when they were put back on the engine after the rebuild. The exhaust manifolds are nice. As you can see, I didnt go to any trouble to try to make the old Wagon look pretty for the pictures. I just took the pictures as it was on that particular day so what you see is what you get. The interior is definitely servicable although its an original 50 year old interior. The front seats are newer Buckets and although they are not the originals, they look nice and extremely comfortable. The Door Panels are Tri-Colored and although they do show some age, they are fine for a driver. The same goes for the Back Seat. The Headliner is in good Original condition. I believe all electrical components operate properly including the Headlights, Parking Lights, Turn Signals work although one side cancels manually, Brake Lights work, Original AM Radio works, Windshield Wipers work, Dash Lights work, Gauges work, Speedometer work, Odometer works, Overdrive Works. The Glass is good on the Wagon except for the passenger side wing window and a wiper scratch on the drivers side of the front glass....all side glass and the Tailgate Glass is nice. The Tailgate is in nice shape overall and works fine. The Doors open and close just fine and the windows all roll Up and Down as they should. The car has Power Brakes and Manual Steering. The car drives very good for a 50 year old Wagon and cruises nicely at Highway speed. Im not sure what else I can tell you guys. The car needs carpeting but its otherwise a driver that can be restored or used as it is...whatever your into. I think its a pretty cool old Wagon and absolutely love the Fins out back. These cars are few and far between these days and the last 2 that I saw for sale on ebay were complete basket case rust buckets that needed absolutely everything and were not running. This one will take you wherever you need to go. Its a lot of fun to drive and even with its wear or patina if thats what you'd like to call it, well it still turns heads and gets thumbs up! This would be a cool wagon to add some cool Vintage Mags and have a Pinstriper do his thing on the car... dont have to go crazy on this car if you dont want.... just do what you like and if that happens to be restoring the car then so be it. I kind of like the cool look it has now. Thanks again and feel free to email me or call me with any questions. I appreciate all of your emails, phone calls and especially your bids. The High Bidder is the New Owner!!!
