Vehicle Detail

Within the Classic Car arena, the term "Survivor" is thrown around a little too freely and often incorrectly. To most collectors, myself included, a true survivor car is defined by the quality and condition of it's original components. This Nova should be used to set the standard. With the exception of standard maintenance items, the car is 100% original. I currently have 3 real survivors in my collection and this Nova is a proud member of my un-altered collectables. She was purchased new at Larry Barnes Chevrolet on July 24th, 1972 in Boise Idaho. Total purchase price was $2891.90 at that time. I have the original cancelled checks from the Bank of Idaho that were written for deposit and balance in-full 6 days later. The first oil change was performed at the dealership in September at 575 miles. The next oil service was also done at the dealership with only 913 miles on the odometer. That's the type of care the car has always received. James and Flora owned the car for many, many years and drove it sparingly. It was then passed on to a nephew that continued the care and type of use the car had become accustomed to. This is a genuine, garage kept, original car in outstanding condition. I have a 3-ring binder of documents for the car. Original purchase order, owners manual, metal Protect-O-Plate and the New Vehicle Inspection form are all like new. All of these items appear as if they've never been touched. The upcoming photos speak for themselves and will convince any non-believer that the 35,000 miles are indeed actual. Even if I said nothing more, you'd be able to form a clear impression of the car all by yourself. To those that prefer a more detailed description, here it is: The Gulf Green exterior paint was applied at the factory and has remained original. Being from the Northwest where we do not use salt or harsh de-icers, the car is rust-free. Undersides and trunk are also 100% solid. Sighting down the sides is impressive. All panels are extremely straight with no waviness or washboard effect. No collisions or body damage of any kind has ever occured and I find no evidence to the contrary. There are no touched-up or paint blended areas. The original paint is a little thin on the trunk and minor chips and nicks are all there is to mention. The paint holds a nice shine and the car presents itself very well. The chrome bumpers, stainless trim, moldings and glass are beautiful. There is no pitting or tarnish on the chrome items. The doors open and close as new. They can only be original once. Vintage cars with this mileage, ownership history, documentation and condition have become nearly extinct. Wether your term of choice is "time capsule" or "survivor", this car deserves to be defined as such. The interior requires no written description. It is completely day-one original and as close to perfection as you'll ever find. Even the optional cloth inserts on the seats appear to have almost never been sat on. All colors are bright, the vinyl is still soft and the factory rubber floor covering is excellent. The dashboard area is gorgeous. The gauge cluster is crystal clear and the dash-pad is mint. The original AM radio tunes in stations perfectly and plays like it was 1972. One of the finest original interiors I've ever seen. All equipment functions properly. Lights, gauges, wipers, heater and even the horn operate as intended. There are no excuses to make. Mechanically the car is, of course, a sweetheart. The 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder performs wonderfully. The powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission shifts perfectly and she drives just as a 35,000 mile car should. Steering and suspension are tight and sound. The brakes stop on a dime. The tires have been upgraded to radial style for safety and drivabilty. Even after sitting ignored in my garage for extended periods, she starts and idles immediately! Capable of driving any distance without concern. There is nothing else to say. I will make brief comments under a handful of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable as I've sold members from my collection over the years. I'm grateful for the kind remarks and compliments I've received. My opinions have served me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing the car in person to anyone with genuine interest. There are many photos to view and I apologize if you get dizzy going through them. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 8PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 21st of December at 7PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located towards the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Nova. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see 1 week before this auction started. No photo has been enhanced or altered in any way. This is my car and every photo is true to her real-life appearance. Thanks very much for your time and Merry Christmas, DAVE Driving across the Fremont Bridge here in Portland the day I took these photos. Please notice the small scratch in the door. It is minor but as I said, no touch-up's have occured. Please notice the small blem just above the left tailight and the mark on the rear panel between the license plate and right tailight. I will be keeping the vintage license plates for another member of my collection. The car comes with current collector vehicle plates. I have 2 sets of hubcaps. These in the photos are 1968-1970 caps. The original 1972 caps are very similar but are more of a "moon" style with the Chevy logo in the center. Both sets are nearly perfect. The new owner can choose the set they want. The interior needs no written description. It is simply all original and in amazing condition. One of a kind. Rear window shelf is mint. The entire dashboard is near showroom. The ONLY flaw to mention is a single crack on the steering wheel. This paper hang-card that shows how to use the shoulder belt on the passenger visor is just one of many little things that supports the life this car has had. Have you ever seen one in-place? This mileage reading reflects the TOTAL miles travelled in 38 years. One of the most impressive original trunk areas anyone will find. Even the trunk weather seal is original. I pressure washed the undersides in order to show how nice they are. A light dealership applied undercoating was performed when new. The undercarriage is 100% solid and unmolested. All of this documentaion is neatly organized and preserved within plastic in this 3-ring binder. I'm sure you're tired of me by now and, again, I appreciate you taking the time to read everything I provided. This car will be missed and she's certainly irreplaceable. Terms of Sale: 38yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly, to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have 100% faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge, everything is in excellent working order. I have free and clear Washington title in my possession. I would drive this car anywhere but she is 38 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Dennis is a great guy and his direct number is 503-343-4884. He is based here in Oregon and has handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is under $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and I will help with these types of transports as well. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
