SCROLL DOWN FOR MANY PHOTOS OF THIS FACTORY BIG BLOCK 1967 RANCHERO WITH FACTORY AC & LOTS OF DOCUMENTATION, NO RUST! Offered for auction to the Ebay community is a cool Base Model 1967 Ranchero with its one year body style. Before I go into all of the specifics about this car and what makes this particular 67 Ranchero so unusual let me start by saying that this is a Factory 390 Big Block Factory AC and is a Rust Free Heavily Documented California Black Plate car...never undercoated with wonderl original floor pans....very straight body......beautiful original sheet metal.... original Warranty Card, Original Owners Packet with Owners Manual, Original California Pink Slip & Original Black + Yellow California License Plates.....Sold New at Downtown Ford in Sacramento California and would spend its life in that area for the next 43 years with 2 owners. The Original Owner purchased the car in September of 1967 and then sold the car to his neighbor in 1973 and the second owner would keep this Ranchero for the next 36 years, What makes this 67 Ranchero so cool is that its a Base trim level Ranchero which shares the same style trim as the Base 1967 Fairlane 2 Door Sedan's. Both the Base 1967 Fairlane and the 1967 Ranchero share the same simple yet oh so cool, Aluminum Side Trim with the "Fairlane" spears on the front fenders which continue the length of the body ending at the rear of each quarter panel. These Base Ranchero's have no fancy trim like the Ranchero 500 or Ranchero 500 XL and are void of rocker panel and wheel opening moldings as well as the lack of moldings on the roof . These Base Model Fairlane Ranchero's also have very spartan interiors with no carpeting or bucket seats. This Ranchero currently has new reproduction carpeting installed but its Original Rubber Floor Coverings are still in place under the new carpets. This 1967 Ranchero is very unusual in that it was ordered as the Base Model Ranchero with the Optional 390 cubic inch Big Block FE engine along with the optional C6 Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission and Factory installed Air Conditioning. These options are rather unusual on the base model Ranchero as the standard engine and transmission are the little 200 cubic inch 6 Cylinder and the 3 Speed column shifted Manual Transmission and very few of the base model Ranchero's came equipped with Factory air conditioning. According to the Marti Report which will be included with the sale of this Ranchero, there were only 98 of these Base Ranchero's equipped with the 390 and the C6 Automatic Transmission and I would guess that this Ranchero is the only one of its kind with the color combination and options. There are quite a few things that really make this 1967 Ranchero stand out as a rare and unusual car including the low Production numbers on the paint and interior combination as well as the fact that this 1967 Ranchero was scheduled for Production on July 21, 1967 which would make this one of the very last 1967 Ranchero's produced. This 1967 Ranchero has an absolutely outstanding Original body with no rust issues. This car has NEVER had any rust! The body is truly what you would expect from an Original well kept California car with beautiful Original floor pans, torque boxes and frame rails. The Original rubber drain plugs on the quarter panel drop-off's are still in place and the original factory applied primer is still visible on area's of the undercarriage. They just dont get much better than this when it comes to being solid and original. There are no signs of any rust or rust repair ever and the floors are all original with no undercoating and no spray can cover-up....just super clean original floors which is a real treat when you have spent your entire life on the East Coast looking at rusty cars and rusty floors over the last 40 years. I remember my very first Ranchero, 30 years ago and even then my car needed floor pans, quarter panel and fender rust repair. NOT This Ranchero. This one has an amazing body. From what I can see, this Ranchero has all of its Original body panels with the exception of the Fairlane GT Hood which was installed a few years ago when the car received its one and only paint job in its Original Arcadian Blue. The hood is definitely a cool addition to the very cool but somewhat ordinary look of a base model Ranchero. The body is very straight with nothing more than a few little door dings and a scratch here and there but otherwise a very nice original body panel Ranchero The Original side trim and bed rail trim is in good original condition. The car pretty much speaks for itself as the pictures will show. You cant see the little imperfections in the pictures but rest assured there are no surprises and absolutely nothing to hide. The car is amazingly solid and straight! The Interior is a combination of original and reproduction with the front seat cover and the carpets being new reproductions and the door panels, headliner and dash being original. The Bench Seat looks Nice with a New Correct Blue Vinyl Seat Cover and the Carpets are also new and look great! The Headliner is very Nice and Clean with Good color and no rips or tears. The Door Panels are original and would benefit from being dyed to brighten up some discoloration from the sun or replace them as they are inexpensive and available in reproduction. The Dash Pad could use a restoration as it shows the wear of an Original 43 year old California car with several cracks. Overall the interior looks good for a 43 year old vehicle. The Original Steering wheel is still in place with the Original 67 Only Horn Pad and the Original Instrument Cluster is all there with an Original AM Radio that was installed at the Dealer when the car was new. The Headlights work as do the Turn Signals, Brake Lights, Taillights, License Plate Lights, Parking Lights and the Interior Dome Lights. The Gas Gauge works as does the Temperature Gauge. The Radio is not working nor are the Dash Lights but I have never checked them and it could be something as simple as a fuse or bulbs. The engine is the Original 390 cubic inch FE Big Block which appears to be very Original except for the addition of a correct 4 Barrel Intake Manifold, Correct 4 Barrel Carburetor and correct Air Cleaner with the correct elbow that goes to the exhaust Manifold on the Passenger side. The engine runs well and is said to have been rebuilt. The engine was recently and tuned and the 4 Barrel Carburetor was replaced with an NOS (C8) Carburetor. The engine sounds great and makes no noises, no smoke and makes plenty of Power. The engine has a great sound through the New Full Dual Exhaust with Flow Master Mufflers and New Chrome Exhaust Tips. I recently installed an Original Set of Chrome "Power By Ford" Valve Covers to spruce up the engine compartment and while I had the valve covers off I could see that the engine is very clean inside which leads me to believe exactly what I was told about the engine being rebuilt. The Transmission shifts great and was rebuilt several years back. There are no problems with either the engine or the transmission. I actually have notes from the cars longtime owner that state that the engine and the transmission were rebuilt along with the dates and the mileage at the time of the rebuilds. I also have some receipts although Im not sure whats there but I would be happy to go over all receipts with anybody who is interested. The service records and all receipts will go with the car. The engine compartment overall is very original including the Original Air Conditioning which appears to be fairly complete but is not functioning at this time. Im not sure what it will need but half the battle is having the Original parts. The Radiator Support is Original with the cars Vin Number stamped into the front of the Core support. The car has the Heavy Duty Radiator which I assume to be standard with the Big 390 and Factory Air Conditioning. There is abslutely no rust in the engine compartment and the Original Cowl, Inner Fender Aprons, Firewall, Battery Box and Front Frame Rails are all super nice and clean. The car is equipped with Power Steering which seems to work well with no unusual noises or problems. The car steers fine and goes down the road nicely and I just went over the brakes which stop the car quite well. I recently installed a set of Vintage Firestone Super Sport Wide Oval G70-14 Redline Bias-Ply Tires on an Original set of Ford Optional Styled Steel Wheels or the Factory Mag wheels which were available on either the Fairlane or Ranchero and they look awesome on this car. The car was Originally equipped with the Painted Steel wheels and Hubcaps and I have the Originals along with Radial Tires. The car drove better with the Radial Tires but didnt have the look that it has with the Redlines. I would be happy to swap out the Redlines and or the Original steel wheels with the Radial Tires if you prefer...just let me know. This Ranchero's Original Side Trim is in very Nice Original condition and this stuff is nearly impossible to find. The Grill has a couple of imperfections as do the taillight bezels but they are just fine for a driver. The Bumpers are Original and are straight with a shine as shown in the pictures although they are starting to show their age. The bed is in good shape with no rust and is in overall very good condition when you consider than these Ranchero's were used like any Pick Up Truck might be used. The bed is far better than most Ranchero's that I have seen over the years and most importantly, there is no rust, The body on this Ranchero is really extrodinary when you consider how rust prone they were and how badly most were abused. This Ranchero's wonderful Body and its excellent running 390 are in themselves a Rarity then add the Factory Air Conditioning, unusual color combination and Original Documentation and it makes for one Rare Ranchero. You just dont see 1967 Ranchero's very often let alone a rust free Original Base Model thats equipped with the Original 390 and Factory Air Conditioning. This Ranchero has its Original Door Mounted Warranty Tag or Door Tag as they are often called and it has never been off of the car. The car also has the Matching Vin Number stamped into the Radiator Core Support. This car also comes with its Original Owners Manual showing that the car was sold at Downtown Motors Inc in Sacramento California on September 23, 1967 to Robert John Kentopp. Mr Kentopp purchased the car from the original owner sometime in 1972 and if you look closely at the Owners Manual, you can see where Mr Kentopp erased the Original Owners name in the Owners Manual and wrote his own name on the Owners line. The car also comes with its Original 1967 Fairlane Owners Packet which includes the Owners Manual, Drivers Manual "A Guide For Good Drivers" which also Folds Open to show a large sign which says " NEED GAS or SEND HELP".....This Manual also shows the New owner how to handle driving his or her New Ford in many different conditions whether it be driving up a mountain or driving down the Turnpike and whether it be on a nice day or driving in the Snow... also includes many Safety Tips. etc etc. The Drivers Packet also includes a Litter Bag to be hung from the Dash of your New Ford and there is also a large Cardboard Envelope that is used to keep all of your New Ford's Manuals and Paperwork in order. The Original Warranty Card is also included with the Paperwork which shows the Ranchero's Vin Number as well as all of the Codes that match the Information on the Drivers Side Door Tag. These were used for Warranty Work when you would take your New Ford back to the Dealer. They would simply check your name and vin number with their service records which were likely hand written on a card of some sort as these were pre-computer days. Also included with the car are many receipts for Service work done to the Ranchero over the years as well as the Marti Report which shows the Breakdown of all of the Door Tag Codes, Optional Equipment, Date of Production, Vin decoding and Production Numbers. Last but not least is the old California Pink Slip(Title) and the old California "Use Tax" receipt which is dated December of 1974 and both the Pink Slip and the Use Tax Receipt are still in the old Post Marked Envelopes which were sent to Mr Kentopp from the California DMV. Another cool Original thing about this car is that it still has the Original Black and Yellow California License Plates which were issued to the Original Owner when this Ranchero was purchased New in September of 1967. If you look closely at the Original Pink Slip and the Registration Receipt then you will see that the "Lisence Number is Q62920" which are the Original License Plate Numbers which are still on the car to this very day! The car also has the Original Chrome Plated License Plate Frames from DOWNTOWN FORD SACRAMENTO !!!!! How cool is that? I just love original documentation and this 1967 Ranchero has plenty of it. The Original Door Warranty Tag Reads and Decodes as follows: Vin # 7K47H227480 7= 1967 Model Year K= Kansas City Assembly Plant 47= Base Ranchero H= 390 2V SPECIAL ENGINE 227480= Sequential Ford Build Number for Kansas City Assembly Plant Body: 66A = Ranchero Color: F = Arcadian Blue Paint Trim: 2B = Blue Vinyl Bench Seat Interior Date: 21U = Scheduled Build Date of July 21, 1967 DSO: 72 = San Jose California Ordering District Axle: 8 = 2.75 Conventional 9" Rear Transmission: U = C-6 Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic Automatic This low production Base Model 1967 390 Powered Ranchero is about as solid and rust free as you will ever find. This of course comes from having spent its life in sunny California. Apparently the original owner ordered this oddball Ranchero on June 28, 1967 and the Ranchero was actually built on July 20, 1967 and then sold new on September 16, 1967. Why does somebody order a New vehicle at the very end of the Model run with the New Body Style scheduled to come out just a few months later? I can only guess that the Original Owner may have ordered this car knowing that there would be a body style change for the 1968 Model year and wanted one of the very cool 1967 Ranchero's before the end of their production run. Then again maybe he just decided to order a New Big Block Powered Base Model Ranchero simply because he wanted one and the fact that the New Models were scheduled to come out just a few months away had nothing to do with it... who knows? Either way Im glad that the Original Owner ordered up this very unusual Ranchero! The original owner purchased this Ranchero New from Downtown Ford and drove the car for a few years before selling it to its second owner who would keep the Ranchero for the next 37 years. The Ranchero still has its Original Black and Yellow California License Plates that were issued to the car when it was sold new back in September of 1967. This is quite a Rare car with only 98 of these 1967 Ranchero's produced with the 390 Special Engine as marked on the Marti Report and only 142 Ranchero's were produced in 1967 that were painted in this very cool Arcadian Blue with a Blue Bench Seat Interior. There are so many things that make this 1967 Ranchero interesting and unique! The thing about this car that really impresses me is the overall Original condition of the car with its strong running 390 and absolutely wonderful rustfree Original body. Sure there have been a few modest changes to the car over the years but these subtle changes are things that were done in good taste and they add to the good looks of this Ranchero. You gotta love the cool Fairlane GT Hood with the 390 Inserts and the great looking Styled Steel Wheels with Redline Tires! All in all this is a very solid Original 1967 Ranchero that makes for one great looking cruiser! This is what I would call an attractive driver that has plenty of room for improvement like most 43 year old cars. The one thing I know it could use are new door weather stripping and a pair of new window channel fuzzies. Keep in mind that this car has never been restored but rather maintained by its longtime owner who always did whatever was necessary to keep his Ranchero in good running condition. The body on this Ranchero is very good and you would be hard pressed to find a more solid original example anywhere. The Interior as I said earlier is a combination of Original and correct Reproduction pieces. The Seat was recovered with a correct Reproduction Seat Cover and the Carpets are Reproductions from ACC and look very nice. The Headliner is very nice and the Door Panels are Original and could use a stand to be dyed but are overall good driver quality. The Paint on the car was done a few years ago and is a attractive driver quality with a couple of minor door dings and some minor scratches. This Ranchero is a very unique Big Block Powered Base Model and is well documented. The engine and transmission were both rebuilt and both operate as they should. The Engine starts easily and sounds great through the full dual exhaust and the transmission shifts perfectly with no slipping, noises or problems. Overall I would say this is a very Rare Ranchero with an exceptionally solid Original body that was owned and maintained by 2 adult owners for most of the last 43 years. This Ranchero was used as primary transportation by its second owner of 36 years and was always given the proper care and was never abused. This is a great Truck for somebody looking for a 1967 Ranchero and if your looking for one then you know just how difficult it is to find a good one. These 67's will show up on ebay from time to time and they are usually 289 powered and on the occasion that a factory 390 powered 67 Ranchero is offered it is either a 500 or a 500XL Model..... Oh, did I mention that they are usually either butchered up ,badly rusted or poorly repaired or a combination of the above? Well that seems to be the case on many of the 67 Ranchero's that Ive seen on ebay. They are either badly rusted or have had many body panels replaced or repaired or they have had the original paint colors changed during some shoddy restoration. This is a very good original car with some minor changes from new and they are for the better in my opinion....just a great Ranchero and most importantly, never a rusty vehicle. This is a Rare Ranchero....make no mistake, you will look long and hard to find another one thats not only a Base Model with a 390 but a Base Model thats 390 Powered with Air Conditioning and Rust Free, well thats not likely to happen again anytime soon. Keep in mind that this is just an Original 1967 Ranchero thats been repainted once and its had some correct Ford parts added including a GT Hood, Styled Steel Wheels with Redline Tires, Correct Ford 4 Barrel Intake(C6) with the correct carburetor. This is not a restored vehicle.....just a good original Ranchero that spent its life in California and has an outstanding Original body. Like any Original vehicle thats 43 years old, there is always room for improvement. Its a great driving turnkey car that can be used just the way it is. Its ready to be driven and enjoyed now.... drive this Ranchero to your local cruise night event or car club gathering. The 390 runs well and the Ranchero looks nice as you can see in the pictures. Thanks again for looking and good luck with this very cool and fairly Rare 1967 Ranchero 390 with AC... Thanks, Tony 215-499-2693 Drivers side Lower 1/4 Panel still crisp original sheet metal with no rust or repairs..original black rubber plug found on the lower 1/4 still in place on both sides. Just wiping these area's off revealed factory primer in various places On Dec-03-10 at 11:47:34 PST, seller added the following information: This 1967 Ranchero has an exceptionally solid body and the Optional "H" Code 390 Special Engine with the C-6 Transmission which makes this 1 of 98 produced. The Body is Exceptionally Solid and the Engine Runs Well....Transmission Shifts great. The Ranchero is well Documented with its Original Warranty Card, Original Owners Manual, Original Black + Yellow California License Plates and the California Pink Slip.....very cool stuff for any Ranchero let alone a Base Model with the 390. The Paint is Driver quality and not without its flaws and there are some minor dings here and there but overall an extremely solid Original Ford Ranchero 390. Your not likely to see another like it with its unusual Arcadian Blue Paint and Blue interior, 390, C-6 and Factory AC along with lots of Original Documentation...its a rare one for sure. Thanks again. On Dec-03-10 at 15:48:54 PST, seller added the following information: The body on this 1967 Ranchero is straight as you can see in the photos which show the sides of the car from Back to Front! There are a few door dings on the exterior and some scratches. The paint is driver quality and looks fine for a weekend cruiser but has its share of flaws, scratches.....looks great going up the road and is a very cool car. There is no rust on this car to speak of.....maybe some surface corrosion from bare metal exposure or some surface stuff from paint chips in the bed but absolutely nothing to be concerned with. Its amazingly solid and gives you a deep appreciation for Original West Coast cars!!! The quarter panels, rockers, wheel house, floors, Torque Boxes and Frame Rails are as good as it gets. The undercarriage is very solid and clean for an original unrestored 43 year old Ranchero. The Bed has the little dings and dents that are found inside the bed of most old Pick Up Trucks although this one doesnt have the rust found in the beds of most old Pick Up Trucks. The Bed is as solid as a rock and has good Original Upper Bed Rail Trim. The engine runs well and sounds great through the Full Dual Exhaust and the Transmission shifts perfectly with no slipping or noises. The Ford 4 Barrel intake manifold is marked C6AE-9425-G. I have been asked if it was a numbers matching car. This is obviously an Original 390 car according to its vin number and original Ford Documentation and the engine appears to be original but I cant say for sure that this is the engine that this Ranchero left the Kansas City Assembly Plant with in July of 1967. There are notes from the cars longtime owner which have the date and mileage at the time of the engine and transmission rebuilds along with all types of work done to the car over the years along with quite a few receipts. I guess the bottom line is that this is a super solid Original California Ranchero with a nice straight body and the 390 engine runs quite well with plenty of power. Its a good driver that would benefit from some freshening in places or would make an easy restoration. I like the old Ranchero and would have liked to have installed a Tonneau Cover while freshening the Interior with a New Dash Cap which can be purchased for under $100 and then I wanted to dye the door panels.....detail the interior a little more as well as detailing the engine compartment and I even thought about installing a set of Fairlane GT style stripes. Its amazing what can be done to give this 1967 Ranchero a completely different and Fresh look without spending much money. Well I guess Ive rambled on enough...... this 1967 Ranchero is an exceptionally Solid Original car with the Optional 390 Engine and C-6 Automatic Transmission which make this Ranchero 1 of 98 Built with this drivetrain combination. The Engine runs well, transmissions works perfectly and the car steers and stops well. Its an attractive looking Classic Ranchero and an unrestored car but certainly much better than most Unrestored Original 1967 Ranchero's and surely rarer than most with its wonderful documentation, low production numbers, cool color combination and factory AC.... all in all, a very cool car. Thanks again for your emails, questions, phone calls, bids and for taking the time to have a look at my auction. Have a great weekend and if you have a classic car then get out and drive it.... time is moving on!!! Tony 215-499-2693
