Vehicle Detail
For sale, 1968 Dodge Charger. This is NOT an R/T, the previous owner badged it that way but would make a nice RT clone. This car was an original 318 car but now has a healthy 440 between the fenders and is mated to a console shifted 727. Everything is there and working except the clock has a mind of it's own. The hideaway headlights have trouble too, but I have the parts to fix them. It is the vacuum switch but I procured the expensive parts from Year One. I have been unable to work on this car because I am in the middle of finishing my 74 340 Challenger, but it would not be very difficult to make this a really nice car. There is a rust spot from crappy body prep on the hood and the deck lid will need some attention too. As with all these cars, the trunk floor will need some attention from the leaky trunk seal passing water into the trunk and rusting a small part of the trunk floor. I have priced the parts and with some welding, this can be fixed for less than 300 bucks. This car was originally purchased in Tucson, and from what I have been able to research, has spent it's whole life here in the desert. I have climbed under the car AND THERE IS ZERO RUST underneath. The interior needs freshening but all the parts are available through many sources. I DO NOT WANT TO TRADE/BARTER or insult you for trying to lowball me. This is one of americas best examples of a muscle car and in may experts opinions, was probably one of the most influential and beautiful muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. I have the build sheet and the factory operators manual but the fender tag was lost when the previous owner worked on it. Govier's web site says with the title, build sheet and pictures of the VIN pad on the dash, a new one can be made. The cars runs and drive very good, just needs some tlc. I'm selling it to finish my Challenger. If it does not sell (Craigslist or Ebay) it's going to be restored. You can call or e-mail me for more pictures. Spammers will be shot and or beaten. If you are not a US citizen, you had better have a good story. Aussies and Kiwi's are always welcome. Remember, this car is 42 years old and just like people, we don't look or feel like we used to so don't expect a perfect car. If this car was restored, it would bring 35-50K depending how far you go with it. NON Numbers Matching 440 (built about 3 years ago, does not smoke) Holly 750/Edelbrock intake Headers 727 Auto console Clock Tach (not a tic-tok) Sure Grip Weld Wheels/new tires Rusty trunk floor but not bad, you can patch, no need to replace Optima battery original interior, needs freshening, door panels too There are a couple of small leaks from sitting in the previous owners driveway and not being driven, I drive mine!!!! NO TRADES UNLESS IT"S A CHERRY ROAD RUNNER (68-70) or Challenger For sale locally so I may remove from EBAY at my descretion I will send you more pictures if asked, but i'm gettin old and if you make me crawl under it, you owe me a beer.On Nov-28-10 at 16:30:23 PST, seller added the following information: For sale, 1968 Dodge Charger.
