Smooth is the word for sure. Smooth powerful acceleration. Smooth handling in the curves or on the highway. Comfort, styling, and versatility all in one gorgeous ride. Keep the aluminum hard top on, and enjoy a safe, quiet, warm environment during the cooler months. Or, store it in the garage and just fold up the soft top on those cooler summer evening cruises after going topless all day! Take a look at the photos and I’m sure you’ll agree with me what an exceptional car this is. What you see is the result of a wash and vacuum only. It’s obviously been allowed to spend a majority of its life garaged because the overall exterior condition is probably the nicest I’ve run across on a 70’s vintage SL in the past decade. Rust? You won’t find anything to worry about here. NO nasty corrosion from road salt on the undercarriage or the bottom of the doors, NO rust bubbles coming up from through the paint either. Climb over, under and throughout and I know you’ll stand up smiling! Our Puget Sound area is famous for rain, but our winter roads are never salted so we rarely see any body rust issues on vehicles from this region. We only have one or two days of light snow each year. Everyone panics and stays home. Besides, having travelled less than 120,000 miles it’s pretty obvious this Mercedes hasn’t seen many winter roads in its lifetime. Hop in and fire up the 4.5 liter eight-cylinder engine and it starts immediately! The automatic gearbox shifts strongly and just as it should with no slippage or other issues detected. Of course the color-matched aluminum factory Hardtop comes with the car as pictured. Having owned more than thirty SL’s over the years, I’ve developed a great appreciation for the Mercedes style, mechanical reliability and overall driving experience. CONDITION: In total, this is an exceptionally clean, well-kept, smoke-free Mercedes. I take great pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about the car as possible. Accordingly here is a list of the good and also things needing attention: All the glass is in good shape – no windshield cracks. Hop in, fire her up and this car starts instantly, even when cold. It idles, runs and drives down the road as it should – good oil pressure, strong battery and charging system, no overheating, no brake pull or alignment issues that we’ve noticed! The paint is in superior overall condition as shown. A high-quality respray appears to have been redone in the original factory antique white sometime in the past. Very decent chrome and exterior trim all around, too! The fenders, rear quarters and doors are all solid. The factory Benz chrome wheels are straight and true with the Toyo Premium Touring radials at least 80% all-around. Take another good look at the interior photos. The upholstery pictures give a very accurate condition view and please notice the quite rare rear seat cushions and belts. Often you’ll find worn springs and disintegrating seat-lining material on Mercedes of this era. This is definitely NOT the case here! Both the driver and passenger can sit comfortably for hours. Very nice trim and clean factory carpets, too. No UV-induced splits or cracks on the original dash caused by the sun. The electric window lifts work fine, though I don’t find the A/C is pumping. The dash gauges and exterior lights are bright and true. Sometime back the factory Becker AM-FM was replaced with a nice removeable faceplate Sony stereo. You’ll find the spare is in the trunk. I want you to BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a very nice car, however, please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or you are required to spend a small amount on an unforeseen problem! No used vehicle is ever perfect. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that is my main goal! I’m happy to assist by transporting your purchase to the nearest DAS terminal located in Lakewood, WA for an additional $100. DAS normally charges about $200.00 to pick up at our door. Make sure you inquire with your shipper about insurance coverage on the vehicles they transport. The vehicle can be stored free of charge at our location for up to two weeks after full payment has been made. We are open for vehicle pickup during the week and Saturday The Buyer will be responsible for the licensing requirements in their state of residence. If you live here in Washington State we’ll need to collect the 9.8% sales tax, title preparation, transfer and registration fees. If you’re from outside our state we charge only a $50 document fee and you’ll pay any applicable taxes where you live.
