I am selling my beautiful 1988 Porsche 924S to pay some medical bills. It has 144,xxx miles on it and runs great. in the past mont i have replaced: Camshaft seal,camshaft gasket(x3),cam housing seal,front crankshaft seal,o-ring,camshaft seal,camshaft bolt,intermediate shaft o-ring,cam cap gasket,intermediate shaft seal,cam housing o-ring, water pump roller kit,timing belt and timing belt tensioner roller, PS belt, new water pump,water pump gasket,water pump blanking kit,thermostat kit,lower radiator hose,coolant by-pass hose,balance shaft belt, idler roller, and balance shaft belt tensioner roller,cap and rotor, plugs. 3 months ago i put on a magnaflow high-flow exhaust with chrome tip. Clutch master and slave cyl'ers have also been replaced. TECH NOTES after repair- There is a partially siezed selector linkage. You need to tap it into 3rd from 2nd. Engine temp reads somewhat high on test drive with engine temp normal when checked with an independent gauge;Suspect a problem with dash gauge or sending unit. Total for all repairs and exhaust exceeds $2200, but the timing belt and seals is very critical in this engine, and was done by a local shop specializing in Euro cars with 27 years of experience. I have papers for these repairs. Tech also notes clutch functions properly, as does the power steering. Exterior is in great shape. No dents/fading/scratches in the paint. The rocker panel(black area under door) is not straight and has some random "bends?" to it. Does not leak water into interior. Electrical is fine. lights go up and down, directionals work,brake lights work, sunroof works. The other day the dash lights dimmed and went off.(bulbs?fuse?dimmer switch? i put a light right above the gauges so i can see at night, but i seldom go out at night. The electric switch for the rear hatch only releases 1 latch, so i just use the key. The washing fluid sometimes does not want to come out, but i just stop at a gas station. All gauges work,speedo works,oil press. works, clock works, NO A/C!! It still runs on the old refridgerants, but was allowed to run dry. Interior is nice. Has the black leather seats with the grey centers with "porsche on them" Has the customary cracks on the dash, but not too bad. Also has the customary 3" tear in the driver side seat seam. The shift boot is fine, but the clips that hold it down broke, so it should be replaced sometime. Other than that everything is verry good. It also has the "phone dial" rims, which i painted black. Can be cleaned off if you don't like them black. has the leather privacy sheet in back, but is broken. Has the original sunroof bag which is expensive and hard to find. Still has the original tool bag, but no spare tire. This car runs and shifts fine. The tires are a 8.5 out of 10. The handling on this car is superb!! There is a small power steering leak comming from somewhere. I just check it when I check the oil. There is a small oil leak from the oil pan drain plug seal washer. easy fix, and i probably will fix it this weekend. Otherwise, i see no oil on my garage floor. This 1988 was the last year for the 924,(even though this car had the porsche engine, and 944 drivetrain) Only 2200 were sold in the US in 1988. It is a piece of history, and pure driving pleasure!!
