Vehicle Detail
It always seems to happen, like Al Pacino's line in "The Godfather" just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in. Well I can relate to that with old vintage motocross bikes, people keep calling me up with something and well I just cannot resist. Honestly is a sickness, I really only want to have and keep the bikes I race, 1974 Honda CR250M, 1977 Yamaha YZ250D and 1981 YZ250H, but my garage and storage shed keeps sprouting more bikes. Let's see, what all do I still have or have aquired of late: 1978 Honda CR125M Elsinore, 1974 Honda XR75, 1974 Honda CR250M Elsinore, I also have a bunch of extra parts for this 1978 CR125M (bottom end, cases, clutch, carbs few other bits), Can-Am MX-6B 250 (almost all restored), Kawasaki KX420, Suzuki 1976 RM250A (2), 1977 RM370B (2), 1977 RM250B, 1978 RM250C, 1983 RM465, 1984 RM250, Maico's, 1977 AW up pipe AW 250, 1978 GS 250 that is currently a MX bike (super cool, has magnesium hubs), 1980 M1 250, 1980 M1 440 (loads of spare engine parts not to mention the 3 huge boxes of Maico OEM parts I just got from a former Maico dealer, need to sort all the parts out, all sorts of bits), then there's the Husqvarna 1969 Sportsman 360 and the 1978 390 automatic AMX (yes, the automatic transmission model, really funky). So this being a long weekend check my other listings as I have to either spend time with the family or put stuff up on eBay for auction, guess which I will be doing? :-) And then there's this bike, I am pretty sure it's a one or at the most two owner bike, tires on it appear to be stock, maybe one change, bike runs well, has excellent compression, shift fine and well is all there. I was going to strip it down to the frame, have everything bead blasted, gone through and well made like new, however my restoration buddy is under time limitations thus if someone wants it like it is now great, if no sale I will have him take his time and make it a 10 bike over the next year. Comes as you see it, thus, as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. I CAN get a title to it if you 100% have to have one, it's a real pain in the keester, 4-6 hours of standing in line at the motor vehicle departement, listening to them drone on and on about something this or that, finally once they check things out that it's not a listed stolen thing they issue me the title. Back prior to 1980 dirt bikes never had titles anyway. So if you HAVE to have a title I will take a day out of my life and get you one, it will cost you an extra $100 however, I think that's a fair trade for a day from work. Shipping, within the lower 48 (USA) I have had exceptional luck with an eBay company, uShip, for example I had 3 bikes and a ton of spares shipped from Baltimore (MD) to me in Phoenix for $300! Then a 1974 KX125 that went from me to Dallas was $150. See the truckers are smart guys. I have talked to a number of them and they do this, say you are a trucker that is moving a load of whatever from Los Angeles to Atlanta, you have a bit of room for say "stuff" well dirt bikes take up little room and they weight say 200 pounds, nothing for a trucker. You sign up for uShip, go on line and see what's listed for shipping along your route, I mean you are heading that way anyway right? So you find a cycle in Phoenix that's going to Atlanta and the guy wants $150 or $200 to take it there, heck you are going that way anyway and you have the room why not? So let's say you find 3 or 4 of these types of deals, well that's an extra $600 plus or so in cash that you can do whatever with. Very clever. I have found the secret to uShip is you do up the listing and just wait, the bids that are reasonable will come as time goes by the first set of bids are usually outragously high in prices. Another example of a great uShip deal, I had a Billy Lane custom chopper (they did a 5 series show on making the bike) so it went from here to one of the Florida Key's islands for $365 and that bike was BIG, long and heavy. I just waited for the prices to come down and they did, the trucker was going from LA to the Keys anyway and had room. Overseas, sure, I have done this many times, easy, I get a CRF250R metal crate, put the bike in there, secure it down and off it goes, easy sneazy. Questions? No worries, give me a ring my cell is 480-861-7218 (Arizona is weird in that we are one of only 2 states that never changes our clocks, right now we are on Mountian Time) anyway you are free to ring me, if I don't answer please leave a detailed message and I promise to get back to you, I am probably on a land line (I own a national commercial collection agency so spend 10 hours a day on the phone). You can email directly at Steele@receivables-management.com and I will try to find some time to post a YouTube clip of the bike, go to YouTube and search steeleacampbell and you will see it there. Okay, I think I have covered it all, thanks mates.
