1967 Mercury Cougar Classic Autoworx is pleased to offer this beautiful “A” code 1967 Mercury Cougar. This Cougar has had only 2 documented owners! The vehicle has been partially restored and is ready for weekend cruising! The sporty new 1967 Mercury Cougar met its public on September 30,1966. Though the automotive press generally gave it rave reviews, Motor Trend magazine was most taken of all, sufficiently moved to give Cougar its "Car of the Year" Award. Leading off its February 1967 story was this glowing description: "POP! ZOOM! DAZZLE! It takes a zoom lens to give a camera, even our $1,500 Nikon outfit, imagination enough to picture what we see in the new Cougar . . .". Road & Track magazine was a bit more objective: "In its standard form, the Cougar can be described as a Mustang shell with longer, more expensive-looking sheet-metal, suspension refinements that make it ride somewhat more like a Thunderbird, and certain things that one expects on certain cars, like disappearing headlights." Large pictures are listed below for your viewing and the car can be personally inspected with reasonable advanced notice. BODY/ PAINT: The paint and body on this Cougar were recently reconditioned and were done professionally in a basecoat/ clearcoat, then color sanded and buffed. The chrome and trim look great, a lot of which is new, polished or rechromed. This car is very straight and the lines match up beautifully. The vacuum operated pop up headlight doors and the sequential turn signals all work properly. There are no noticeable flaws to mention as the paint is new. Be prepared to be the center of attention at your local cruise, car show or just at the stop light in this eye popping muscle car! INTERIOR: The interior has had a lot of work done to it, almost being completely restored. The bucket seats have been re-stuffed and reupholstered, in as new condition. The carpet and package tray are also new. As you can see in the pics, the Cougar is beautiful inside and out. The car also has the original steering wheel and lower console in beautiful condition. Engine/Transmission: This is an original A-code 4v 289ci powered Cougar with a C4 automatic transmission, both recently rebuilt with less than 20 miles on them since rebuild. The Cougar has headers into new custom 2 ½” dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. New bolt on’s include Hi-Po aircleaner, Edelbrock intake manifold and Edelbrock 600cfm carburetor. New wires, hoses, belts, water pump, fuel pump, alternator, starter and much more. Should provide many years of service and enjoyment! The C4 automatic transmission is rebuilt and performs quite well without any issues. Rebuild has less than 20 miles on it. Brakes, Steering, Suspension and Structure The Cougar has stock style suspension and steering, restored as needed. The Brakes have been rebuilt. The shocks are new on all 4 corners and the front end was just aligned. The car has brand new 15”American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with new Cooper Cobra tires. The vehicle runs, drives and brakes as expected. The unibody is straight, frame rails, trunk, shock towers, floors and windows sills solid and rust free. This is a RUST FREE CA car, documented since 1978 per the title slip and all registration cards since that time. Let me state this as a disclaimer: This is not a rotisserie built, nut and bolt, frame off or body off restored show vehicle. This Cougar is mostly restored, but not completely, much of which is in very good original condition. Any ideas that this car will be unloaded and be a flawless 100 pt show car and you’ll be disappointed. It is not brand new and it’s not a $50,000+ show vehicle (priced accordingly), but it is very nice and you’ll certainly get looks and waves!!!
