Prestige Classics was a well-known maker of quality replicas. In addition to the '57 Tbird, they offered replicas of the early Corvette and Porsche. 1957 was the last year of the two-seater, before the advent of the "Squarebird". The body is fiberglass and features chrome bumpers, glass windshield and door glass, plus the distinctive lift-off porthole hardtop. The T-bird is powered by a smallblock Ford (302 probably, but it could be a 289) with automatic transmission and rack-and-pinion steering. It runs out well. Almost everyone who sees it thinks it is an authentic Thunderbird. It is great fun to cruise in, especially with the top off. Every head turns as you ride by. Remember Suzanne Somers in American Graffiti? Long live the '50s! If you always wanted a 1955, 1956, or 1957 Thunderbird, but couldn't pay the cost of admission, this is an affordable way to get the next best thing. The replica is by Prestige Classics of Valencia, Pennsylvania. This vehicle has a clear North Carolina title. The vehicle is listed as a "1986 Cust", that is, custom. A certificate of origin was issued by Prestige Classics in 1982, and a custom North Carolina title was issued in 1986. I have a certified title history from the NC DMV. It has been owned by a friend of mine for the last 15 years or so, for whom I am selling it. The car does show some wear and blemishes inside and out. Although it is a beautiful cruiser, it could use some freshening up. The body has some nicks and scrapes, and underhood needs a good detailing. The interior appears to be original, and the driver's seat has a seam split. The passenger door glass has a crack, and the attaching clamps on the top need to be better secured.
