Vehicle Detail

This truck rides and drives fantastic. The cab is tight and every thing works including the factory tach. Hard to believe it has 318000 miles, but with the proper proper maintenance this truck receives, mileage is not a real factor. This is a daily driver and the mileage will be even higher by the time the auction is over. I have owned 6 of these first generation Dodge Cummings and this is the best of the best. Hate to sell but need the money. The pictures were taken before I bought the new tires. This is a Montana truck and the only rust is where the paint has chipped. There is no rust in the body or the frame. The power mirrors, power windows and radio work great. The driver side power door lock does not work, you have to use the key or the manual button. The cruise control works just fine without problems. Even the 4x4 indicator lights up on the dash. The AC blows cold and the heater blows hot. The interior is good with some light stains on the carpet. The seat does show a bit of wear but no holes or rips. The headliner is tight with no sag and the dash does not have any cracks. The tachometer is a factory extra that is seldom seen on these trucks. It works and is illuminated for night driving. The paint is good althogh there are a few rock chips here and there. The front and rear bumpers were replaced with custom units that do more to protect the vehicle. The truck was all white but the bottom section was painted to match the gray bumper. The motor is pretty much stock and runs strong, does not use oil or smoke. The valves were recently adjusted and the truck has been well maintained. Hit the throttle hard and it will blow black. The first of these Dodge Cummings had the weak 5-speed Getrag transmission and were notorious for failing. You can rebuild a Getrag but it is just a matter of time before it fails again. This truck has the updated, heavy-duty NV4500 transmission that is currently used by both GM and Dodge, (a $4,000.00 upgrade). The former owner had a special filter installed on the transmission to ensure that the synthetic fluid in the tranny stays clean. I will include a replacement filter. I live and work in Montana and it is winter so I can honestly tell you that the 4x4 is used regularly and works the way it should. You have to manually turn the front hubs in and out but then use the floor shift to go from 2 wheel drive to 4 high or 4 low. This truck gets a consistent 23-24 miles per gallon on the road when running 75 MPH with the cruise. The mileage may seem high but these engines run forever. A rebuild kit for this engine is only $675.00 and that includes new pistons, liners, bearings and gaskets. There is a flip-up gooseneck ball in the bed and if this bothers you I have a new take-off bed from a 93 Dodge that I will sell for $300.00 to the buyer if they want it. This truck does not have any problems. The truck is sold with new tires. I would not have a problem or second thought to hooking my car trailer and pulling a load to Texas and back. The weather turned nasty so I did not get all the pictures I wanted and may be able to add more later. If you have questions give me a call at 336-302-4842. On Nov-23-10 at 03:24:26 PST, seller added the following information: This truck was involved in a minor fender bender accident as reported on 10/11/2001. The accident report lists no damage to this truck according to CARFAX. On Nov-23-10 at 03:36:24 PST, seller added the following information: I added two pictures to show where the paint is is blistered or showing signs of rust. As I said before, the only rust is only where the paint has chipped off or cracked as n the bed. On Nov-24-10 at 14:34:17 PST, seller added the following information: I might be able to help transport this truck. I have family in North Carolina, Texas and Oregon. Being down for the winter I might consider driving this for you and visiting family. Of course you would have to pay the expenses for the transport. No promises and you would have to talk to me before buying the truck or else transport on your own. Just a thought that might reduce your costs. On Nov-24-10 at 16:34:49 PST, seller added the following information: ok, I have had calls with people asking about the truck and why I want to sell it. I bought a 92 Dodge Cummings, 5 spd with 152,000 miles and bucket seats. I don't need both and this one has to go.
