Vehicle Detail
Ok... First of all, I'm the owner of this vehicle so you're not dealing with a dealership. PLEASE ask me as many detailed questions as you wish, if possible, come look at the car!, I'm located in santa cruz, california. I will answer all questions with honesty and detail to the best of my extent. Anyhow, heres the quasi-weird situation with this car. BMW has this really bizzare policy on their vehicles where if 10 keys are lost in the span of the cars life, they wont simply make a new one if you lose the tenth and final key (which sadly I did). I did not personally lose ten keys for the record, previous owners must have accumulated the other other 8 loses (Yes, i did lose two though...) Thus after begging and pleading with BMW to find a way to just make a new key they said it was impossible. If I want to drive my car I will have to buy and install a new key ignition module, bummer. Search around the internet if this whole ten key rule thing sounds weird to you. Knowing nothing about cars, I eventually convinced a family friend who is a mechanic to help me purchase the needed part and install it. We got it in and installed it, bmw sent me new keys, but we couldnt get it to fire up. For about two months we kept trying to contact bmw/other mechanics to figure out why it wasn't working because he was confident it was installed correctly. Nothing we (well I just stood over him the whole time) tried worked. I finally caved and took it to a certified bmw technician to get a diagnosis. What I was told was simply that the new igniton module wasn't "speaking" the the engine control module. Of course they wanted more money to fix it, and by this time I had 0$ to put into the car and had inherited a new car. ALAS, that is where the car stands now, when i put the key in it will try and start but not turn over. Moving on. To make it clear, this car ran flawlessly for the 4 years I owned it, it never actually had a problem!!!! Bmw just screwed me over with its whole key policy. It's been sitting in front of my house for about 3 months, so as the pictures shows it could use a spiffy clean up, air in tires...etc. Several of the panels are removed from being worked on, driver side door panel and the panels underneath the stearing wheel and glove compartment area. Besides just needed a good clean up I'll try and list all the cosmetic issues of the vehicle (try and look at the pics too, i know my camera is not great). rear and right side have patches of paint fadeing off, mainly on the lower rear and rear side as pictured. Right front of the hood has several small dents that look as if it was hit by a shotgun for somereason, pictured. Front fog light is missing. Intererior has plent of scuffs and scapes and what not. With a lot of elbow greas the interior could get back to decent shape. Seat tear in the front, seatbealt casing missing for driver (still works fine). Trunk is pretty solid. of course mechaniclly sound (minus the whole story above of course). Dashboard lights up just fine. Aftermarket soundsystem is installed. Aftermarket rims are installed. I'm sure i'm missing some cosmetic stuff so i just want to put a disclaimer out that there are plenty of scratches and knicks on the car. I'd rather make it sound worse than it is so when you get it you think "oh, its not THAT bad". Again ask me ANYTHING, request specific pics etc.
