Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my personal vehicle, a 2000 Pontiac Firebird V6, with 88k miles on it. The good: - It's 10 years old and only has 88k miles on it. - The interior is clean with no tears or fading. - The T-Tops are not cracked and don't leak. - My reserve on this auction is less than half of kelly blue book "fair" private party value. "Fair" is defined as ": "Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional." I think this car would rate slightly worse than "fair". Here is a link to the blue book value of the car: http://www.kbb.com/used-cars/pontiac/firebird/2000/private-party-value/pricing-report?condition=fair&id=6825&equipment=259180%7cfalse%7c259185%7cfalse%7c259254%7ctrue%7c259249%7ctrue&mileage=88679 To describe the bad, I like to nitpick. That's why I have a 100% Top Rated Powerseller account. I don't hide things, and I try to even make them sound worse than they really are. Here's what all I can find on this car. - It has a motor knock. Go to this video I made to listen to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpO4G45uE6Y I'm no mechanic, but I have a couple of friends that are wanna be mechanics and I had them check it out. One said he thought it was a cracked flywheel. He has owned one of these cars before and had a spun bearing which he said knocked much worse than this. The other guy said he was pretty sure it was multiple spun bearings and would need a motor swap. So you might get by without having to replace this motor, but I would plan for the worst. Worst case scenario, you can pick up a used motor from a junked firebird for around $700-900 is what I was able to find. If I had to replace it, I would go with a a Pontiac GTP engine that is basically the same as this one except it comes factory with a supercharger. - There is cosmetic damage on the passenger side of the vehicle. You can see in the photos, but there is damage around where you open the door, and the side mirror has been knocked off and is gone. The windshield was cracked at the same time, but I had a new one put in by SafeLight a few weeks ago for $280, so you're getting a brand new windshield. - There are dents/dings in various places throughout the car. There is also a crack on the front bumper you can see in the pics. - There is no radio. It had an adapter in place to fit a 1-din radio, and the wires are ready to be hooked up to whatever cd player you want to put in it. - The button on the console lid is missing. - The top of the dash pad is cracked above the passenger side (typical on these vehicles). - One of the headlights makes a weird noise when you lower it because the little plastic gear inside it is stripped. This happens on most all these cars, and some enthusiasts came up with a fix of having a metal gear put in the headlight assembly, or you can pick up a reproduction plastic one on ebay for $15. - One of the tail lights appears slightly darker than the other because it has a small crack in it and allowed moisture to enter the housing. That sums up the description of the car. The car is also listed locally, and I have the right to end the auction at any time if it sells locally. Why am I selling it? - I bought this car thinking I would fix it up as a project. It has been sitting in my garage and I've decided I won't soon have the time for a project, so I'll pass it on to someone else. Will I consider trades? Yes. Email me any partial or even trades for running vehicles only. All considered. Will I ship it? Sort of. I won't discourage you from having it shipped to you, but you will need to make all shipping arrangements. I will assist by helping load the vehicle when they arrive, but not by driving it to the nearest shipping terminal (most are about 45 miles from where I live). Can you drive it home? As with any used vehicle, and especially one with a motor knock, I can't guarantee it will make it back to wherever you are going whether 10 hours or 10 minutes away. However, I drove the vehicle recently about 300 miles total without it seeming to get any worse. Does it have any trouble starting? No, it starts right up first try every time. Does the A/C work? Yes, it blows ice cold air. How are the tires? Average. Not great, but not terrible. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I will be happy to show this car and allow test drives before the auction ends. This car is obviously being sold as-is where is, with no guarantee, warranty, or return policy. Again, the reserve on this car is well under half the blue book value, so there is money to be made if you want to flip it, or if you just want a project for yourself.
