Vehicle Detail
For auction is my BMW 650 Dakar. The best all around bike I have ever owned (and I've had a LOT). The bike is in excellent condition and runs perfectly. Never abused, always garaged. I just replaced the tires (Conti TKC 80) , chain (renthal gold O-ring) and sprockets about 600 miles ago. The bike is ready to go ANYWHERE right now. Options include BMW tank bag, engine protector, smoke windshield, ABS brakes. Aftermarket items include Touretech chain and brake gaurd and Jesse touring luggage. I have really enjoyed the Jesse luggage over the stock BMW cases (they were very weak in both looks and durability) and even over the Touretech aluminum luggage ( I had them on a KTM 640) which was nice, but having hinged lids is far more handy on a bike like this. The Jesse product is very durable and functional...practically bomb-proof. As for riding the Dakar, it's the most forgiving bike I have been on. The Electronic fuel injection keeps the big single running flawlessly while delivering about 70 mpg fuel consumption. The ABS brakes can save your life in a pinch allowing the rider to steer through a tight spot rather than locking up and skidding out of control. It can also be shut off for trail riding if desired. Riding and balance is typical BMW perfection. Some people don't like the TKC 80 tires calling them "twitchy". The reality is, the blame goes on the rider, not the tire, because these handle incredibly well on pavement considering the aggressiveness of the tread and will save your life on a dirt road over a tread-less road tire alternative. Why am I selling (in case you care)? Not because I want to. Times are lean and the first thing to go has to be the toys. Someday -when I can afford it- I'll get another Dakar. Hopefully one as nice as this one. For now, it's going to be somebody else s turn to enjoy this exquisite machine. Hopefully it goes to a good home, because they are getting very hard to find. NOTE To Serious Bidders : If you require more detailed photos please include a contact email address they can be sent to. :-) Starting bid is the minimum I would ever part with this bike for-regardless of financial pressure..it is a BMW and- last time I checked- nobody is giving them away.;-) Bid with confidence- the bike is a gem and only needs a rider. If it must be shipped, I am willing to help as much as I can on this end. I do not want to see this bike damaged by improper transport anymore than a successful bidder would. Rest assured, it will not leave my sight without being properly secured.
