Vehicle Detail
This is one of the rarest of the 4th generation (1993-2002) F-bodies (Firebird/Camaro) produced. At the end of 1996, SLP (Street Legal Performance, GM's partner for the Pontiac Firehawk and Chevy Camaro SS) bought 200 of the LT4 engines used in the limited edition 1996 Corvette Grand Sport and Collector's Edition Corvettes. The plan was to make 100 each of a special edition LT4 Firehawk and LT4 Camaro SS. They made 109 of the LT4 Camaro SS, but only ended up making 29 of the LT4 Firehawk. To make these cars, they balanced and blueprinted the engines to assure exact tolerances, and then added every SLP option that was available from SLP for that year. This brought the total price for the LT4 option package to over $17,000, which added to the base Formula brought the total new price to over $40,000. This is #27 of 29 of the LT4 Firehawks, with 86,000 miles on it now. It is an absolute blast to drive, rated from SLP with 330HP, this example has right at 400HP due to a tuned ECM and long tube headers. The car has been garaged it's entire life, but there are the typical scuffs/scrapes that would be associated with a 13 year old car. If you've ever been interested in a "modern musclecar" you must see this one, as that is exactly what it is. Condition: There are really only two minor issues with the car: 1) The dash pad is cracked (see picture). This is not unusual with these cars, and a new dash pad from GM in only about $200. 2) There are a couple of scratches on the passenger side from some debris when I got caught in a thunderstorm. They are about 3-6 inches long, and may be able to be buffed out by a paint shop. There are no mechanical issues with the car, and I would not hesitate to drive the car across country (as a matter of fact I just finished a 500 mile trip a few weeks ago). I have all the original records for the car (order sheet, sale forms, dealer forms, etc), as well as an original dealer video on the car, and a Pontiac Enthusiast magazine with an article on the LT4 Firehawks. I also have the original customer Firehawk car cover that was included with the car.
