I apologize for the late posting on the pictures. The weather and new vehicles coming in have prevented me from doing it earlier. I will try to get even more pictures in the next day. As for the rust, the heavily rusted areas are the rear rocker panel mostly the driver side. Some rust is on the lower front driver side door. Also where the rocker meets the wheel well on the front there is rust there as well. Everything else seems pretty solid. The trunk area is very solid especially where the spare wheel resides and the rectangular area next to it, it is usually rusted but these are in great shape. In so many words the rust has mostly accumulated on the rocker panels and some on the driver side door. Here is a very rare Mercedes 107 chassis roadster. This is the very first year Mercedes came out with to substitute the 113 chassis. There are not that many of these around and it is a rare model since the first ones were actually hand built and they had a very rare 4 speed automatic transmission which changed the following year to a 3 speed automatic transmission. This SL was imported from Germany into the US in 1972 although it is a 1971 model. Besides the rare tranny it also features a mint black dash which is something extremely rare to encounter even in newer 107 models. Also the cluster which shows the original mileage is in German language not English. The metal chrome shifter plate reads 4,3,2 instead of D,S,L. The European bumpers are straight and in very good condition. Square European front headlights. The soft top is old and worn although the frame is there. The engine easily turns over and I was told by the last owner that the car was running til He had an electrical trouble. Although this SL could be a runner it is in need of someone who would love to restore it. To top it all the title is clear and the tags are current. I even think that the registration has been paid til 2013. There is a fair amount of rust on the lower rear fenders in the inside part I also saw rust in the inner part of the fron wheel well. Since I despise rust myself with passion I will try to get as many detailed pictures as possible of the affected parts. If the winner needs a little more time I would grant that although If not picked up by the time requested I'd have to charge $25 per week storage fee the following week after the 10 days grace period. This is primarily to encourage the buyer to have the car picked up as soon as possible or I would end up with my entire lot packed with vehicles. I understand it sounds a bit harsh though I hope it makes a point.
