1979 DODGE DIPLOMAT WOODY WAGON 29,630 ORIGINAL MILES, ALL ORIGINAL AND WITH ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION, ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL ORIGINAL CAR, NO RESERVE NO RESERVE NO RESERVE!!!!! SCROLL DOWN FOR 75 PHOTOS INCLUDING ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION, INTERIOR PICTURES, ENGINE, EXTERIOR, ETC ETC. THANK YOU! Up for auction at NO RESERVE is a wonderful original 1979 Dodge Diplomat 6 Passenger Woody Station Wagon with 29,630 Original Miles, Original Factory V8 car and Nicely Optioned. This exceptionally Original Dodge Wagon looks great in its Original Factory Color and very Unique Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint with very nice Original Woodgrain and an absolutely Stunning original Tan interior! This Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Woody Wagon is also very well Documented with most all of its Original Paperwork which include the Original Window Sticker, Original Dealer Pre-Delivery Inspection Sheet, Original Advance Dealer Shipping Notice, Original Build Sheet, Original Full Owners Packet including the Original Owners Manual and Original Chrysler Sound System or Stereo Manual, Original 1979 Dodge Sales Literature , Original 1979 Diplomat specific Dealer Literature, Original New Vehicle Preparation and Road Test Sheet from Wilke Motors dated July 22, 1979 and much more. The Original Owners of this Dodge were an older couple who kept the beautiful Woody Wagon super nice over the years which surely shows by its very nice unrestored condition. There are very few of these cars around today and even fewer that have under 30,000 original miles with most of the Original Documents that came with the car when it was sold new! The Original Owners kept just about everything that came with their new Dodge Wagon back in 1979 including the Window Sticker. How many of us kept the original window stickers when we purchased new cars back in 1979 or any other year for that matter? I am always amazed to see cars of this Vintage with such wonderful original paperwork or service records. I think it says a lot about the original owners and is a good indication of how and why a car this old managed to stay this nice after all these years. QUESTIONS: TONY 215-499-2693 SCROLL DOWN FOR 75 PHOTOS OF THE WAGON This 1979 Dodge Diplomat Woody Wagon still shows very nice as you can see from the photos. Its a nice clean Original car with a really nice original color combination along with very attractive paint, clean original woodgrain , nice original chrome and trim and a stunning original interior. Its not without Patina and its flaws but it might be difficult to find a cleaner or more original Dodge Wagon from this era, as there were not only very few produced but most of these cars were driven into the ground. Powered by its Original bullet-proof 318 V8 engine, this Dodge Wagon with just 29,630 miles is barely broken in as these 318 powered vehicles are well known for running forever with the most basic maintenance. The 318 engine in this Dodge Wagon starts easily with just a few pumps of the gas pedal and a turm of the key which instanting starts the car and goes right to the choke's high speed idle which works as intended. The engine does not smoke, no taps, no unusual noises whatsoever. The engine sounds great and runs every bit as good as it sounds with plenty of power for nice smooth comfortable cruising down the highway or anywhere else for that matter. The engine compartment shows very nice with just about everything under the hood looking very original right down to the original factory installed decals on the engine valve covers and the decals on the radiator support and cowl area. The only things that appear to have been changed under the hood would be a couple of hoses and the battery, otherwise it appears to be nearly 100% original. Im sure there are a very things that have been changed or replaced over the years but there is very little that stands out as replacement equipment outside of the battery and a couple of hoses. Its amazing how clean and original the engine compartment is this car is and I dont think it would have been much better under the hood when it was new. Keep in mind that I have not done so much as even clean this engine compartment...just very clean under the hood from the firewall to the radiator support and everything in between. The original paint in the engine compartment still looks great as does the original blue engine paint which has never been touched. The factory original air cleaner is nice and clean as is the Original Radiator Shroud, Factory Installed Plastic Battery Box looks good and the Original Air Conditioning Compressor looks very clean and its hard to believe it was installed 32 years ago as its still has the original stamped lettering and factory part label in excellent condition. Its just nice to see an engine compartment that was obviously well cared for and even more importantly shows a car that was obviously never a problem to its owner with almost all of the factory original components still in place. By the way, this car still has both of its Original Factory "Fender Tags" in place as well as a "Third" assembly line Tag which is attached to the drivers side inner fender right between the two full size fender tags. This third tag is in unusual tag that is one thin metal with several codes on it which correspond with the full size tags. The 2 Fender Tags were used during assembly along with the build sheets and they show and decode most everything from the Wagons Body style to its Original engine, transmission , paint color, interior trim codes and many of the option codes as well as the scheduled production date etc etc. The Original Paint Code shows as "SG8" which decodes as "Teal Green Sunfire Metallic" paint. The Fender Tags and Build Sheet show this car to be exactly as delivered new except for the change in the Radio from the Original AM Radio to the Optional AM-FM Radio. The AM Radio code is also shown on the Build Sheet as Code "R11" or Music Master AM Radio. This car was produced in October of 1978 according to the original Drivers door mounted vin decal as well as the Original Build Sheet. The Documentation and Fender Tags show everything that you'd ever want to know about this cars originality. This car is a good example of how they were built in 1979. Its an amazingly original car with wonderful original documentation, nearly mint original interior and an exterior that surely looks nice to turn many heads. If your looking for a good original car that can be enjoyed and without breaking the bank, well my friends then look no further. This is a great old Dodge Wagon that is not only very original but as dependable as they get. You can drive this one anywhere with confidence! This car started life in Chrysler's St Loius Missouri Assembly Plant and was sold new in St Charles Missouri at WILKE Dodge-Chrysler. The car was sold new to an older couple who kept the car for many years before it eventually went to their son. Im not sure of the specifics but at some point last year the son of the Original Owner sold the Wagon to a Classic Wagon enthusiast who said he was attracted to the car because of it reminded him of the Chrysler Town and Country Wagon. Well he is absolutely right about that. The Dodge Diplomat Woody Wagon is the sister car to the Chrysler Town and Country Wagon from the same year and this Diplomat Wagon has got to be the Top of the Line 1979 Dodge Wagon for this model year. This is a very classy Wagon and just loaded up with great standard equipment as well as many cool options from the optional 318 V8 engine and Automatic Transmission, Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes, Power Door Locks , Air Conditioning, Cruise Control. Full Tinted Glass, Original Chrysler AM-FM Radio Professionally modified for use with your IPOD with the Jack Built into the Radio Face, Intermittent Windshield Wipers, Dual Remote Chrome Exterior Door Mounted Rearview Mirrors, Luggage Rack, Fender Mounted Turn Signal Indicators, Woodgrain Package, Color Keyed Seat Belts, Front and Rear Bumper Guards, Front and Rear Protective Rubber Bumper Strips, Premium Wheel Covers, Rear Air Deflector(Wagon Roof Mount) and Optional FR78-15 Radial White Side Wall Tires as standard issue were Blackwall Tires! As you can see this is a very well optioned Wagon and a very pretty car as the pictures will show. This car runs, drives, shifts, steers, stops and does just about everything right! Its a wonderful running 29,630 Original Mile car with the ever reliable 318 engine and it drives beautifully. The transmission shifts perfectly with no issues. The Steering feels very good...nice and tight without the usual wandering up the road that you find in many of these older vehicles. This one just drives super nice without all of the squeaks, rattles, vibrations and other annoying noises or issues often associated with older vehicles. This car really drives very nice! While driving the car down the road tonight just to grab something from the store, I found myself amazed at how nicely the Dash lit up and how crystal clear the gauges are. This is one of those nice low mile cars that you can truly appreciate after owning some that have seen better days, if you know what I mean. This car has always been well kept and cared for which is not only evident by its condition but driving this car is what really makes you a believer. By the way, absolutely every single thing on this car works right down to every light, gauge, heater/defroster and even the air conditioning although it will need to be charged. Everything works on the air conditioning but it just does not get cold and I have absolutely no doubt that a simple shot of good old R12 freon would get the Factory Air Blowing Cold again. The Parking Lights, Taillights, Turn Signals(in Dash, exterior and Fender Mounted), Dash Lights, License Plate Light, Brake Lights, Interior Dome Light both Front and Rear, Intermittent Windshield Wipers, Power Door Locks, Cruise Control, Speedometer, Trip Odometer, Odometer, Gas Gauge, Low Fuel Warning Light, Annoying Key Buzzer, Horn, Water Temp Gauge, Glove Box Light, Cigarette Lighter although its never been used nor has the ashtray and the car has NEVER BEEN SMOKED IN!!! The High Beams and Low Beams work as they should, the old school way by stepping on the High Beam Switch located on the Floor which you simply depress with the toe of your shoe....all Settings on the Heater/Defroster work as they should from the Vents, Defrost, Heat and all Speeds of the Blower Motor work as they should. The Rear Cargo area has 2 Storage Compartments which lock and unlock to store away anything you might want out of sight and these Storage area's are like new. The Doors all Lock and Unlock Properly by either useing the Key or by simply pulling up or pushing down on the Power Door Locks which operate from the Locks at the top of the doors. The windows all roll up and down effortlessly and the Doors open and shut nicely with a decisive thud or click. Mechanically this Wagon is Excellent and doesnt need a thing to be used regularly right now! The previous owner installed a New Starter, New Catalytic Converter and had his mechanic going over everything to insure that all was in good operating condition along with having the Fluids changed or topped off where needed. This car was driven quite a bit this past summer and enjoyed immensely by its previous owner and I would confidently say that you could fly in and drive this baby home! It was my intention to drive this Dodge Wagon everyday and its absolutely up to the chore but I have decided that I just didnt want to put this 32 year old Dodge through one of our good old Northeast Winters which seem to get worse every year. I have decided to pass the Dodge along to somebody who will continue to care for the old Wagon as its been cared for over the last 32 years. If somebody wanted to use this as their daily driver then this car would certainly do the job. The Interior is about as Nice as you will ever find on any 1979 Vintage vehicle let alone a Station Wagon which by their usual use are subjected to hauling everything from children, dogs, groceries, building materials and just about anything you can imagine . This Wagon was obviously never used for any type of work as the Cargo area is about as Nice as you'll ever find in a Wagon this old. The Cargo area still looks amazing with no ware, damage or stains in the rear carpeted cargo section. The Seats in this Wagon are nothing short of beautiful with no tears, rips, worn areas, no split seams, no damage whatsoever. The Seats are super nice and extrmely comfortable. The seats are still nice and firm and are easy to access from all four doors. It doesnt appear as though this Wagon was used to transport more than 1 or 2 people at any given time as the back seat shows virtually no wear. I doubt very much that there were passengers transported in this Dodge Woody Wagon more than a handfull of times over the last 32. The Dash and Dash Pad are as good as it gets with no wear, no cracks, no splits, no stains, no damage of any type and that goes for the Dash Pad and the Steel section of the Dash as well as the Gauge Cluster, Heater Bezel, Glovebox area and everything on top and in between. Its just Outstanding! The Door Panels, Carpets, Headliner, Cargo area, Plastic Interior Trim are all very nice with no rips, cracks to anything that you might commonly find damaged in a Vintage car or any type let alone a Station Wagon. The Seat Belts are all in excellent working order and I forgot to mention earlier, there is a seat belt warning light to remind the driver to buckle-up and that works as it should. The Interior gets very high marks on this car as a whole with the only thing at all worth mentioning is that there is a heel mark on the Plastic or Rubber section of the Carpet on the drivers side front where the driver would rest his or her heel while driving this car. This is in the Rubber or Plastic section that is the small square area on the drivers side front carpet that is specifically designed to protect the carpet from this type of wear. This is a very small area which is probably 2"x2" and it may very well clean up a little but I just left it alone because it is so insignificant! The interior would get a 9 out of a possible 10 in my book! The exterior of the car looks very nice as you can see in the pictures and the Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint looks to be the original Factory applied paint. The paint still looks very nice with a great shine and the metallic in the paint shows very well in the natural sunlight with a great glittery shine.....just a very pretty color that works really well with the Woodgrain sides. I believe the paint and woodgrain to be original as I see no indication of any tape lines, repairs or anything that would imply that this Wagon has ever had any type of paint or body work in the past. The Woodgrain looks absolutely wonderful and really stands out against the Teal Sunfire Metallic paint. The Woodgrain has a very nice look and the original Pinstriping over the Woodgrain looks pretty nice as well although there are some areas that show some wear. The Body is very straight and quite solid overall with a few very minor door dings but no serious damage of any kind. The body is very Solid overall with no major issues or serious problems. There are no signs of any accident damage or previous repairs. The car is straight and has good original body panel fit or I should say, as good as it gets by 1979 standards. The Original Bumpers fit well and all Doors & Tailgate Open and Close properly. There are no signs of any serious rust or previous rust repair on this car although there is a little rust around the rear wheel wells and a little surface spot at the bottom of the front door but none of these are of serious concern in my opinion. The rear wheel wells have a couple of spots that would be the only real issue in my opinion and they are relatively minor. These Dodge Wagons are by design very unusual in that the wheel opening moldings are mounted about 2" above the wheel openings so this would make it very easy to have these spots blown in if you chose to do so and since the moldings are above the wheel openings, it would be nearly impossible to see should you decide to address at some point. The Factory Original Moldings and Trim are all in place with nothing missing and with everything in reasonably good shape and absolutely above average. The Original and often missing Front Hood or Header Ornament is in place and in good original condition. The Original Grills, Headlamp Bezels, Taillights and Bezels, Roof Rack etc etc are all in very good original condition. There is nothing broken and nothing with serious damage anywhere on the exterior or interior of this Wagon. The undercarriage, floors, frame rails and the Spare Tire Well are all as solid as a rock. There are no rust issues anywhere under the hood....clean engine compartment with very nice original paint. This 1979 Dodge Diplomat 6 Passenger Woody Wagon is by far too nice to get into doing any major repairs nor will it require any. I would never and I do mean NEVER, repaint this car as its looks far too good and original to do so but I might consider having the area around the lower rear wheel wells looked at and possibly blended by a paint professional. These spots could be done and would be nearly impossible to see as they would be below the rear wheel opening with its unusually high mounted moldings. I would go so far as to call this a Survivor car as it appears to be wearing its Original Factory applied paint, Original Woodgrain, Nice Original Trim, Stunning Original Interior and it is a low mile car with most of its Original Documentation. This would be a great Wagon to enjoy whether you plan on driving or showing it. Either way, its a great Original car with a Wonderful color combination and all of the things that make for a nice collector car. You get all of this is an a Package that is very affordable and practical. This Wagon is a Wonderful Original car is clean throughout and mechanically trouble free & in need of nothing to be used as it is. This Wagon will give you many years of driving pleasure or showing pleasure if thats what your into. KEEP READING AND SCROLL DOWN FOR 75 PHOTOS OF THIS WAGON. THANKS FOR LOOKING I have attended many all Chrysler Shows over the years from the Mopar Nationals in Columbus Ohio and the All Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle Pennsylvania and there are always a nice display of Survivor cars at these shows. These Survivor cars are amazing and Original Unrestored cars are always more appealing to me than restored cars. This 1979 Dodge Diplomat 6 Passenger Woody Wagon is a 32 year old car with a Beautiful Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint and Beautiful Original Woodgrain combined with the Stunning Original Interior that is as close to new as they get. Take this Wonderful Original Combination and add the Low 29,630 Miles along with all of the Original Documentation including the Original Window Sticker and you surely have an Unusual Survivor that will get the attention and appreciation of most any car guy! Im not saying this is a show car but I am saying that this 32 year old Wagon would be right at home at your local Cruise Night gatherings or local car club events. I do believe this Wagon would be a good candidate to show as a survivor should you decide to take care of those areas around the rear wheel wells which would be an easy job. Many of the cars that are shown in Survivor class have had some part of the car repainted or have had some type of repair work done. I would think that this Dodge Wagon would be greatly appreciated for its originality and overall condition. Is it the type of car that I would choose as my show car? Probably not but its a great Original Wagon and for the guy that wants a clean and truly unique heavily documented car and doesnt want to spend a lot of money, well this just might be the car! This is a car that can be confidently driven anywhere without worry! If you appreciate nice Original cars that have not been driven or abused by a young kid and has always been well cared for then this just might be the car for you. As I mentioned earlier, this Dodge Wagon is a great Driver that has never been messed with and it has to be one of the lower mile examples of a Wagon that is very seldom seen. I honestly cant remember the last one of these that Ive seen. Chances are it was back in the early 80's. Although I dont know what production figures are on these cars, I can say for sure that it has to be fairly low. These cars were built at a time in Chrysler Corporation history when they were truly suffering and were on the brink of disaster and if it had not been for the Dodge and Plymouth Mini Vans which were to come along just a few years later then there is a good chance that Chrysler would not have made it through the 80's. Point being, this has got to be a fairly low production vehicle simply by the fact that Chrysler was not selling many cars at this time....lets face it, 1979 was not the greatest year for Chrysler although there were some very cool cars still being Produced by Chrysler in 79. Now that Ive rambled on extensively about this car and about Chrysler's late 70's struggles along with my opinions about Survivor cars, let me get back to finishing up my auction for this very cool Wagon. To wrap it up, this is a very Original 1979 Dodge Diplomat 6 Passenger Woody Station Wagon with 29,630 Original Miles with what I believe to be its Original Factory applied Teal Sunfire Metallic Paint, Original Woodgrain Sides, Beautiful Original Interior that is as close to perfect as they get....all Original Documentation from Original Window Sticker, Original Dealer Pre-Delivery Inspection Sheet, Original Advance Dealer Shipping Notice, Original Build Sheet, Original Full Owners Packet including the Original Owners Manual and Original Chrysler Sound System or Stereo Manual, Original 1979 Dodge Sales Literature , Original 1979 Diplomat specific Dealer Literature, Original New Vehicle Preparation and Road Test Sheet from Wilke Motors dated July 22, 1979 and much more. This Vehicle was purchased new by a couple who kept the car for many years before it went to their son. The son had it for some time before he sold it to a Wagon Enthusiast/Collector who bought the car sometime last year and used it quite often this past Summer. He told me he truly enjoyed driving the old Dodge Wagon this Summer and that the car never let him down...always started and ran beautifully. The car really does run and drive like new and needs absolutely nothing to be enjoyed now. The car is Highly Optioned with the 318 V8 engine and Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Air Conditioning, Tinted Glass, AM-FM Radio that was Professionally modified to be used with your IPOD...has the IPOD Jack in the Face of the Working AM-FM Radio...other options include Dual Chrome Remote Control Door Mounted Rearview Mirrors, Power Door Locks, Cruise Control, Luggage Rack, Fender Mounted Turn Signal Indicators, Woodgrain Package, Color Keyed Seat Belts, Front and Rear Bumper Guards, Front and Rear Protective Rubber Bumper Strips, Premium Wheel Covers, Rear Air Deflector(Wagon Roof Mount) and Optional FR78-15 Radial White Side Wall Tires as standard issue were Blackwall Tires and Dodge Mud Flaps at all Four Corners! Absolutely everything on this car works except the Air Conditioning will need to be charged. The Air Conditioning Components are not only all in place but the Compressor engages and Blows Air but its not Cold enough so I truly believe a simple shot of R12 Refrigerant should do the job. Absolutely everything else works flawlessly! The Paint looks to be Original and has a very Nice appearance. The Woodgrain looks great! The Interior, well it doesnt get much better that the interior in this car...absolutely as good as it gets! The car runs and drives like new and can be confidently driven anywhere! This is a 32 year old car so its not perfect but its a good solid Wagon and quite an unusual Model as you rarely see the 1979 Dodge Diplomat Wagons let alone a Woody Model. This car will be sold at NO RESERVE, NO RESERVE NO RESERVE NO RESERVE so somebody will get to own this very cool old Dodge Wagon at a very fair price! This is a nice passenger side photo of the 1979 Dodge Diplomat Woody Wagon wearing its Original Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint and just look at the condition of the Woodgrain....Outstanding original! The Original Hubcaps are all nice and the 15" Radial Whitewall Tires are Like New. This is the cars 2nd set of Tires in the last 32 years! Notice the optional Passenger side Chrome Remote Door Mounted Mirror and the Optional Rubber Body Side Molding which was intended to keep the car from suffering any unnecessary door dings from careless drivers who may have parked alongside of you while you were in the local grocery store. I was never a big fan of these side moldings but they served their purpose as there are very few dings on this Wagon. This Wagon has a great Original look and there is absolutely no doubt as to its mileage being correct at 29,630.....the car looks great from the outside and the interior is literally like new! Take a look down the passenger side of this Wagon...absolutely dead straight and the condition of the original Woodgrain is amazing! The Original Paint looks very nice and the front Bumper, Parking Light, Cornering Light Lenses and Original Headlight Bezels look great....a very pretty Wagon with Great Lines! Another good look at the Original Paint only this time on the Roof...looks great and the Factory Roof Rack looks super nice with the Woodgrain Insert looking as though it was installed last week instead of some 32 years ago. All of the Window Surround Moldings and Optional Front Door Glass Visors look great! Just a quick look into the passenger side shows just how clean and original this Dodge Wagon is and just how well its been cared for over the last 32 years. The Carpets, Seats, Dash, Door Panels, Kick Panels, Steering Wheel, Sill Plates are all Like New! What a comfortable interior and the interior color works beautifully with the Teal Sunfire Metallic Paint. The Rear Cargo area with the back seat in the up position shows nicely with no signs of any real use over the years. Dont get me wrong, its not new but its about as close as your going to get to finding a Like New 1979 Dodge Diplomat Wagon Interior and especially the Cargo area which would usually see everything from the groceries to the Children to the family dog. Many Wagons were put to use in many ways and were seriously abused....Not this Wagon! Notice the Photos below which show the Cargo area from looking back from the front seat.....still no signs of any abuse hidden anywhere in the front or back of this wonderfully kept original wagon! Look at the Beautiful Dash Pad with its Original Graining in the Vinyl still quite prominent even after 32 years. The Steel section of the Dash which starts at the Windshield and goes to the Dash Pad still shows like new with not so much as a scratch in the upper paint. Many of these older Dodge's would leak and you would see evidence of these leaks with surface rust in the corners at the windshield..NOT in this Wagon!!! The Seats look as Nice as possible....like new with no splits, no tears, nothing worn or damaged. The Original Woodgrain on the Glovebox Door is very Nice as is the Matching Woodgrain finish on the Door Panels, Instrument Cluster which Dodge called " Glossy Brazilian Woodtone ".... call it what you like, it looks gorgeous on this 29,630 Mile Dodge Wagon. Drivers side front door panel Drivers Side Rear Door Panel! Passenger Side Front Door Panel. Passenger Side Rear Door Panel. Nice View from the Rear Cargo Area Carpets all the Way to the Front! CLEAN! Spare Tire Under the Rear Cargo area Floor with Original Jack & Full Size Spare Tire, Original Paint! Original Bumper Jack Complete with all Accessories, Original Jacking Instructions and just look at the Original Paint under the Cargo Floor and the RUSTFREE Spare Tire Well! BEAUTIFUL Original Headliner is something you Never see in Wagon's of this era and especially on the Chrysler Products. I own another 1979 Dodge Wagon with low miles and its a very special Wagon that was with its Original Owner from late 1978-2002 and that Headliner has some issues. The Headliner is this Dodge Diplomat is like new....does not get any better! Nice Shot of the Drivers Side Fender/Door, Nice Woodgrain, Original Premium Wheel Cover, NICE! Full Front Shot, Beautiful Original Front Sheet Metal, Nice Panel Fit, Nice Chrome, Lights all work! 29.630 Mile, Original Instrument Cluster, Nice Steering Wheel, Mint Dash Pad, Beautiful Original Dash! True Miles at Time of these Photos, 29,615 now 29,630 and likely a few more before auctions end. Optional AM-FM Radio, Professionally Modified for use with IPOD, simply Plug into the Jack Hole Between the Volume and Tone lettering on the Lower Left Side. Works Great, Just Plug in Your IPOD!!! This 1979 Diplomat Wagon was Originally equipped with the AM Radio which in itself was optional but the Original AM Radio was removed by its previous owner after he located a Correct Factory AM-FM Radio which was sent out to a Radio Conversion Co. in California who installed an IPOD Jack into the front of the AM-FM Radio and the Radio works great on AM and FM! Whats even cooler is that it works great with your IPOD by simply plugging your IPOD into the jack which is located between the Volume and Tone script on the left side of the Radio. This works great! Im not much into IPOD's but I plugged my daughters IPOD in and fortunately she has a lot of COOL Music locded into her IPOD which made driving the old Wagon all the more fun! Thanks Steve! The Tailgate looks great with the Taillights both on the Tailgate and Wrapping around the Quarter Panels. The Original Molding that goes around the Tailgate Glass is very Nice overall as this usually shrinks up and deteriorates badly. Its quite nice on this Dodge Wagon and its many years of being garaged surely shows. The Woodgrain is very Nice and all Taillight and Reverse Lights Lenses are Nice. The Rear Bumper is very nice and the Original Black Rubber Protective Strip across the Bumper is very nice. The Original Chrome WILKE Dealer emblem is still in place and looks great on the lower section of the Tailgate. Those were the Days! Engine compartment shows all Original decals from the Radiator Support to the Cowl....engine still has its original decals on the drivers side Valve Cover, Original Plastic Chrysler Battery Box still there...amazing as these things would usually deteriorate after a few years and were tossed. Just a very clean original engine bay. Everything from the Alternator, Air Cleaner, Coolant Overflow Bottle, Windshield Washer Reservour, Air Conditioning Compressor, Radiator Cooling Shroud, all show well and have their Original Chrysler Parts Tag, Decal or Ink Stamped Part Number. This is as clean under the Hood as my 4 year old Truck! Notice the excellent Original condition of the engine compartment with nearly all components bring 100% Original outside of a few hoses, a belt and the Battery. This engine Compartment is amazing with all of its original Teal Sunfire Metallic Paint showing like new and even pieces like the Original Hood Insulation Pad, Original Chrome Hood Ornament with the Bright Red Center still mounted on the Header Panel which retains its very nice original paint. With just 29,630 miles, this very Original Diplomat Wagon shows quite well. 1979 Diplomat 2 Door Coupe in Teal Green Sunfire Metallic! 1979 Diplomat is nicely equipped from the factory with standard features and state of the art Safety features! 1979 Diplomat Woody Wagon in Light Cashmere Paint. Not nearly as attractive as the Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint which in my opinion is the nicest color available for the 1979 Dodge Diplomat Woody Wagon! ADVANCE DEALER SHIPPING NOTICE! SENT TO DEALER BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF THE NEW DIPLOMAT WAGON AND DATED SEPTEMBER 15, 1978. PIECES LIKE THIS RARELY MAKE IT TO THE HANDS OF THE NEW CAR PURCHASER. ANOTHER GREAT PIECE OF ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS EXTREMELY ORIGINAL AND HEAVILY DOCUMENTED 29,630 MILE 1979 DODGE DIPLOMAT 6 PASSENGER WOODY WAGON! Original WINDOW STICKER for this 1979 Dodge Diplomat Wagon showing its Colors, Options, Selling Dealer, Assembly Plant, EPA FUEL ECONOMY RATING and a Grand Total of $8133.75 ! 1979 Dodge Diplomat Wagon Build Sheet from Chrysler's St Louis Missouri Assembly Plant. This Build Sheet and several others Build Sheets which were idential were used by the Chrysler Assembly Line Workers to show them exactly how this Diplomat Wagon was to be built. Every Code on this Sheet represents either a part, paint color, option, wheels, tires, belts, hoses, etc etc... it was the schematic for the exact build of this specific 1979 Dodge Diplomat Wagon which was likely the only one of its kind built in this exact configuation whether it be a difference in colors, options, wheel covers, stereo, etc etc. Every Chrysler vehicle was built according to their individual Build Sheet and sometimes these Build Sheets were simply discarded, trashed and more often that not, at least one Build Sheet was placed inside the vehicle. This Sheet was removed from the rear cargo area and is in excellent condition. This is the NEW VEHICLE PREPARATION INSPECTION AND ROAD TEST SHEET which were used on every Chrysler Built vehicle of the era. These were assigned to every New Vehicle and of the Selling Dealer, in this case WILKE MOTORS in St Charles Missouri and the Dealer would send an Employee out to go over every Inspection Point from the engine compartment to the exterior, interior, check all electrical components, check out all steering and suspension to make sure the car drove, stopped and steered as it should. They would also make sure that any equipment shipped with the vehicle to be installed at the Dealership were in fact installed such as Floor Mats, Roof Racks, Antenna's, Special Wheel Covers or Optional Hubcaps, Trailer Hitches or Optional Tow Packages and they even "Touched Up Minor Paint Chips and Scratches". Can you imagine going to pick up your New SPECIAL ORDERED $40,000 vehicle from your local Dealer only to find that some minor chips and scratches had been touched up with a simple Dealer Paint Touch Up Pen or Kit? You would be very upset to say the least but this is the way that things were done back then. New Car Quality Control was not nearly what we see today. It was not unusual for New Cars to arrive with runs in the Paint or very Poor fitting sheet metal. This is all we knew back in the day and we didnt really care as long as it was not something horrific. The Good Ole 60's & 70's, I miss them so, LOL!Well as you can see this 1970 Dodge Diplomat Woody Wagon in Factory Teal Green Sunfire Metallic went through its New Vehicle Preparation and Inspection without a problem and was passed by Wilke Dodge! The Taillight Lenses look beautiful and light up nice and bright while the original woodgrain looks absolutely wonderful. With the Tailgate open up you can see the factory RED Reflectors on the bottom of the Tailgate which make this visible in the evenings and are another of Dodge's small innovative safety features. As you can see, all is nice and clean. The Beautiful Original Front Bench Seat with the Fold Down Center Armrest look like New while the original Plush carpeting still looks beautiful as well. The Original Dash Pad is Flawless and still shows its nice original grained finish. Original Door Jambs show beautiful Original Teal Sunfire Metallic Paint with nice original Door Lock assemblies and as you look further back you see the Beautiful Factory Woodgrain on the Passenger side Back door which still looks stunning compared to 95% + of Wagons of this era....just wonderful original Woodgrain throughout this Teal Metallic Diplomat Wagon! Original Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint on the Tailgate looks beautiful as does the Original Woodgrain Panel that goes the width of the Tailgate. Take a good look at the Woodgrain....absolutely wonderful. There are a few nicks, scratches and dings on the Wagon but this car looks very nice and it might be difficult to find one with lower mileage in a Stunning Original Color Combination while heavily documented. This Wagon has it all as far as collectibility goes and all in a Wagon that can be driven anywhere with confidence! The Original UNLEADED GASOLINE ONLY Decal shows as nicely today as it did some 32 years ago and just look as the color in that factory applied woodgrain! Passenger Side Front Fender. Notice Beautiful Original Woodgrain, Nice Original Moldings, Original Diplomat Fender Emblem, Nice Original Premium Hubcap and Like New General Radial White Wall Tire. Notice the Wheel Opening Moldings which mount above the Bottom of the Fender unlike many vehicles which mount flush with the Lower Fender to the Wheel Well. Very Nice Original Car! Below: Drivers Side Front Fender Shows Nice Original Teal Sunfire Metallic Paint and Beautiful Original Woodgrain along with factory Pinstriping. Original Moldings are Nice, Original Diplomat enblem shows nicely. Original Premium Wheel Cover and General White Wall Radial Tire. Notice the Nice Grain and Color in the Woodgrain Sides...looks wonderful! Below: Drivers Side Rear Wheel Opening and Quarter Panel which shows nice Original Woodgrain, Original Gas Cap with Woodgrain, Original UNLEADED GASOLINE ONLY Decal... Shows Rear Door Edge Guards, Original Pinstriping shows a small spot thats worn but no big deal and barely noticeable. The Original Dodge Mud flap still in place. There is a little door ding on this quarter panel that cant be seen in this photo but again, its barely noticeable. All Original Moldings show nice and the Original Premium Wheel Cover in place with the matching General Radial Whitewall Tires. Notice the wheel opening moldings are mounted above the lower edge of the quarter panels as was the design on these 1979 Dodge Diplomat Wagons! Below: Passenger Side as Straight as an Arrow with Beautiful Woodgrain, Original Taillight Lenses are Nice, Original Dodge Mud Flap shows well. Notice the Pinstripe under the Taillight does not meet the Taligate Pinstripe on the Tailgate as well as it should. Again, Chrysler Quality Control at its finest, LOL LOL... hey its Original guys and thats the way they were built. The Picture does not do the Rear Bumper justice as the Chrome is Really Nice...Notice the Bumper Guard and Black Protective Strip that runs the Width of the Bumper. This is a very Straight, Solid, Clean Original car! Below: Passenger side from Front to Back showing this Straight, Clean Dodge Woody Wagon with Paint, Gorgeous Original Woodgrain and very Nice Front Parking Lights and Cornering Light Lenses, Original Dodge Mud Flap can be seen if you look closely...Notice Original Remote Control Passenger Door Mounted Mirror with Mirror Adjustment Handle Mounted under the Dash. This is just a nice clean car...not perfect but a very Nice Excellent running Dodge Wagon that will take you anywhere! Below: Taken just before the Sun went down...Notice the Cool Air Deflector Mounted Above the Tailgate, another Cool Option for any Vintage Wagon and a Nice addition to this Dodge! Woodgrain looks great on the Tailgate and the Taillights all Light Nice and Bright! Notice how clean the Rear Bumper Chrome looks in this photo. Another interesting thing about this Beautiful Color, Teal Green Sunfire Metallic or Code "SG8"....it looks Super Bright with lots of the Metallic Flake showing in Natural Sunlight and the Color gets a Deeper shade of Blue/Green Turquoise as the Sun goes down or in the shade....either way, the Nicest Color available for the 1979 Dodge Wagon in my opinion! Below: The Chrome Ornament that Mounts on the Front Header Panel or in front of the Hood. The Original Red Painted Center still shows nicely as does the Original Chrome. Notice the reflection of the Chrome in the Paint which looks like an imperfection in the paint...rest assured its just a reflection and you can also see the reflection of the Trees and the Street Light in the Hood Paint. The Red in this Ornament was used on all of the Diplomat Emblems usually on the "D" in Diplomat! LOOK AT THIS COLOR, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! On Oct-25-10 at 19:15:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Im going to list this for a couple of guys who expressed sincere interest in the Wagon but wanted to know more specifics about the condition of the car. This is not an unusual request although I had one guy ask me to list anything that was not "perfect". I have yet to see any car that was perfect and especially a car that was built 32 years ago but I will do my best to mention anything that I've noticed on this car that is less than perfect. I will list everything that I can think of here and as I receive more questions, I will do my best to answer them and add anything that I feel pertinent to the auction. Mechanically I cant think of one thing that is a problem with this Wagon. Ir runs and drives perfectly and everything works as it should except the Air Conditioning is not blowing cold. The AC Components are all super clean and the Compressor engages and the Blower works on all settings so I believe a simple fresh charge of freon will have it blowing Cold again. Keep in mind that this car shows just 29,630 miles and is 32 years old so it is likely to need a charge as I dont think the AC was ever touched. There are No other mechanical issues of any kind that I am aware of and I strive to give as much information as possible. The car starts easily and the engine runs beautifully...nice and smooth with plenty of power and it drives nicely whether your going down the highway at 65 mph or cruising around town in traffic...no problems either way with this excellent driving car that steers great and tracks well and will stops you on a dime with excellent factory power disc brakes. I know that some of the Chrysler and Ford Wagons that were built up through the 70's were factory optioned with the Heavy Duty Suspension and the larger Brakes but I am not sure if Chrysler was still doing this on the Diplomat Wagons in 1979. I guess it doesnt much matter as the car stops perfectly without pulling to either side on heavy breaking......just stops very well for a car from this era. This Wagon runs, shifts, drives, stops and steers as good as any 1979 Dodge car in my opinion...no smoke, no unusual noises, transmission shifts perfectly with no slipping or problems. The body is very straight and solid overall. There are a few little door dings but certainly nothing offensive in my opinion. There are a few minor scratches but again nothing thats major or ugly. The Wagon is very straight with no signs of any accident damage and the body panels line up nicely by 1979 standards... all of the doors open and close perfectly and the same goes for the Tailgate. The body is straight and overall, very solid with the only rust issues being a couple of extremely minor surface spots on the lower front door and a little rust around the lower rear wheel wells that is located below the moldings and would be an easy fix or you could leave it alone. This is an extremely Solid Old Wagon! The Floors, Undercarriage, Frame Rails, Inner Fenders and Tailgate are all excellent original and look like a 29,630 mile car should. I have a few pictures of the bottom of the Tailgate which I will add to the auction . The Interior is as close to new as I have seen on any vehicle that was 30+ years old. The Seats are as Nice as they get and look much as they did in 1979 with no serious wear on the Seat Covers, No rips or tears and not even any loose seams...nice Headrest. The seats still have Nice Firm Springs and the Seat Padding is still Nice and Comfortable. The Front and Rear Seats are in Excellent Original condition with no problems whatsoever! The Rear Seat folds Up and Down easily for a Larger Cargo area or for Seating for 6 and not only are the Seats Nice and Clean but the Color Coded Seat Belts are all in good working order. The Door Panels all show nicely with the Original Pull Straps in Good shape and the Original Lower Door Panel Carpeting in Nice shape as well. The Paint in the Door Jambs look very Nice and all Original Door Locks, Strikers and Door Sill Plates are clean and in excellent Original condition. The Tan Dash Pad and Original Tan Painted section of the Dash look like New! Its amazing when you take a good look at the Dash on this car as you will usually see some normal scratches in the Painted section from normal day to day use but this Dash Looks super clean and the section which leads from the Dash Pad to the Windshield is usually stained or shows some staining or corrosion but this one is really exceptional. The Dash Pad not only shows wonderful Original color but its still soft and the Grain in the Vinyl still stands out quite strong and looks great! The Instrument Cluster looks great with a Nice Clean Instrument Cluster Housing and Clean Crisp Gauge Lenses.....the outer trim on the Instrument Cluster looks really nice. The Heater/Air Conditioning Bezels look super clean as does the Original Chrysler AM-FM Radio with the built in IPOD Jack which not only looks great but plays well also. The Original Heater Vents in the Dash look new and all are not only clean but still adjust without so much as one broken piece of plastic which as we are know if a rarity. Why do adjustable Heater.Aur Conditioning Vents always seem to break? Well none on this Dash are damaged and all look new. The Original Ashtray looks like new and has NEVER been smoked in!!! The Headliner is like new and the Best Vintage Wagon headliner that Ive ever seen! The Carpets still shows super nice with the only thing that shows any wear being the Rubber Heel Pad that is sewn into the drivers side front carpet which shows a heel mark from the original owner. The Glass is all of the original glass and all of the Glass looks great and all windows rolling up and down nicely with the only thing that I noticed are two tiny little chips in the front glass that can happen to any car from simply being driven. These are tiny and you have to look very hard to see them...they have likely been there for years. The Tires are Excellent. The Belts and Hoses are all very good. The car needs absolutely nothing to be used now. Im sure that are some things that I might have overlooked but rest assured it was nothing that major and as I said earlier, as I get more questions or give a complete panel by panel inspection by phone to one of those who are interested in the car then I will surely report anything that I might have missed on the car. This is an Excellent Original car and with just 29,630 Original Miles it should be good to go for many years. The Color Combination is just Stunning and the Original Interior is Gorgeous. The Original Woodgrain looks super nice and is far better than the woodgrain that Ive seen on some of the mid to late 90's Roadmaster Wagons or the Impala or Caprice Woodgrain Wagons....you just done see 32 year old Wagons with Woodgrain as Nice as this 1970 Dodge Wagon. The Documentation is a very nice addition to this car and its history is known from day one. So there you have it guys....no mechanical issues....the mechanical and body issues covered.....dont know what else to tell you. Call me if your serious. I will be happy to answer questions concerning this cool old Teal Sunfure Metallic Dodge 6 Passenger Woody Station Wagon with the great looking Woodgrain sides and like new interior. If your in the area and would like to come and see this Wagon and take it out for a ride then just feel free to call me and make an appointment. I will do my best to find time in my schedule to show you this Teal Sunfire Wagon..... tony 215-499-2693 Thanks again! Above: Bottom of the Tailgate when it the Up and Open Position....NO RUST on this Tailgate although you can see the Woodgrain where it wraps around the corner of the Tailgate. Notice the Red Reflectors which are mounted on the lower Panel of the Tailgate which are there to keep a vehicle from running into the Dodge should you be sitting with the Tailgate open and No Lights on...pretty cool Safety precautionary measure. Check out the Interior Panels in Tan...Like New! Above: Drivers side Rear, Cargo Floor Lifted to expose Original Complete Jack along with Full Size Spare Tire, Original Jacking Instructions are still glued to the Floor of the Rustfree Spare Tire Well...Look at the Original Storage Compartment mounted in the Side and check the Nice Original Paint in the Spare Tire Well... Clean and very Original 29,630 Miles as of this Day! Above" Passenger Side of the Cargo Floor Lifted to Reveal Full Size Spare Tire and Original Teal Sunfire Metallic Paint still looks great after 32 years in the rustfree Spare Tire Well. Locking Storage Compartment in the Passenger Side is perfect for your Tools, or anything you'd like to keep hidden away while you leave the car unattended. On Oct-27-10 at 19:18:00 PDT, seller added the following information: The Body on this 1979 Dodge Diplomat is very nice overall. It has a good straight body and a solid undercarriage and is an all around very original car thats never been messed with. The paint looks quite nice and appears to be the original factory applied paint although I cant be absolutely sure. There are no indications of any previous paint work or any body or damage repair....no signs of any accidents or any repair work for that matter. It appears to be a very honest original Wagon. The Paint color is a gorgeous shade of a dark Turquoise although its called " Teal Green Sunfire Metallic". The Woodgrain is amazing even with its minor imperfections and flaws....you just dont see Woodgrain thats held up so well after 32 years and especially on a Chrysler Product of this era. You simply dont see Chrysler built Woody Wagons from this time in history as Wagon sales were likely at an all time low and shortly there after, we had the advent of the Mini Van by Chrysler. Who would have thought that those silly little MiniVans would have become such a hit? Go Figure!! I still remember the first time I saw a Mini-Van and then a Mini-Van with Woodgrain sides, I nearly died laughing but I guess the boys at Chrysler were laughing in the end.... Go Figure, the Death of the Family Woody Station Wagon led to the birth of the Chrysler Town & Country MiniVan...what a sad sad day for all of us Station Wagon enthusiast!!!! As I said earlier, I see no signs of any body damage or repair and I believe this Wagon to be wearing its Original Factory applied Teal Green Sunfire Metallic Paint and it still looks very nice outside of some very minor paint imperfections...its 32 years old! It is still a very clean and super attractive original Wagon. The overall condition of the body would be very good original and nice and straight. There are a few minor dings but thats about all. There are no major or serious dents and there are no pieces of exterior trim thats either broken or missing. Most of the original trim and moldings on this car are in very good shape although Im sure there are a few things that are not perfect....again it is 32 years old and a very good Original Wagon but not brand new. I dont want to make the corrosion around the rear wheel well area sound worse than they are but at the same time I want you to understand they there is some corrosion. This is by no means a rusty car which the photos clearly show. Its a good slid car but there is some corrosion around the rear wheel well areas which goes down to the rocker on the right side and these areas are minor and would be a very easy fix as they are located down low and below the wheel opening moldings which mount well above the wheel lips on these cars. This would be a relatively easy and inexpensive repair to have done and with the wheel opening moldings installed, you would be hard pressed to see any repair or blend was ever done. This is just some crusty corrosion and not a quarter panel or wheel well that rusted away....Im probably making it sound worse than it is. I assure you its not a big deal but its there. The car certainly is worthy of this rather simple job as the rest of the car is not only beautiful but as solid as a rock. I will be including an NOS drivers side rear wheel opening molding to replace the less than perfect original. I dont think you'll be disappointed with this Wagon if you have realistic expectations and by that I mean, just expect a very nice clean and overall very solid original car that would benefit from having these areas professionally addressed. Its not perfect but it is certainly one of the better 1979 Dodge Wagons left with low mileage, wonderful documentation and a nearly flawless original interior....just a great old car that could be driven anywhere. This wonderful Vintage Woody Wagon runs and drives just as nice and smooth as it should with 29,630 miles and it goes down the Highway beautifully at 65mph with no vibrations, no wandering, no pulling when you brake hard...just a very good driving car. Its one of the few cars of this era that Ive seen that all of the electrical components are in good working order. The Interior could not get much better. The Radio plays on both AM and FM and your IPOD will work perfectly when you plug it into the front of the factory AM-FM Radio.....pretty cool stuff I must say even though Im not much of an IPOD guy..... Ive used my Daughters IPOD and plugged into this Radio and its a pretty cool concept to have all of your own personal Music downloaded into this skinny little thing thats not much bigger than cigarette lighter! I guess Im just an old guy thats a little behind the times and could defintely use a few lessons in basic modern personal music technology from my youngest daughter. What ever happened to walking around with your little old Sunoco Transistor radio with an ear plug? Thats what I used for a personal Radio when I was a kid. The Local Sunoco Gas Station would give you one for 99 cents with a full tank of gas. It looked just like a Mini Sunoco Gas Pump in Yellow and Blue and I traveled everywhere with that little Sunoco 260 Gas Pump Transistorized radio for 2 Summers. Man I was one happy kid back in the 60's. I guess Im a little outdated like my old Radio! Please keep those questions coming and let me know if there is anything that you'd like me to add. Thank youOn Oct-28-10 at 15:55:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Well guys I wanted to be sure that I was giving as much accurate information as possible and so I asked a friend who has been in the auto body business to take a look at the Wagon and so I drove it by and he checked it out. He thought that there may have been some paint work done at some time but that it would have been done many years ago. I asked him about the body and he thought it was typical of what was being built back then. He then laughed and referenced the poor quality standards of the American auto manufacturers back then. After that he did say that he thought the old wagon was nice and straight and the corrosion that I mentioned around the wheel houses would be a straightforward repair and blend. I took some pictures of each side at the rear wheel wells so you have a better idea as to what Im talking about. The drivers side is better than the passenger side. The drivers side is some corrosion around the wheel house in a couple of spots that would be easy enough to have repaired and blended and the passenger side has a little more corrosion but again it would be an easy repair and because of all of this being very low, it would blend easily. This is a 32 year old Wagon guys and its not perfect but keep in mind that its still a 29,630 mile car with an absolutely stunning original interior and the Documentation just doesnt get any better. You can certainly drive this old Wagon anywhere. Its a very clean car and lets face it, what do you really buy these days as far as collector cars go without spending a ton of money? There just isnt much out there. If you decide to bid on this Wagon then understand that you might want to have these arears around the wheel houses repaired and blended but there is nothing else you would have to do to this car in my opinion, Take a look at the pictures. They are not great but you can get an idea as to what Im talking about. Thanks again and good luck to all bidders. By the way, for the guy that asked me why I was selling this Wagon. I bought a 1979 Dodge Aspen Sport Wagon with the Factory Bucket Seats, Floor Console, Front and Rear Wheel Flares, Front Spoiler and these are quite rare. Ive wanted one of the Sport Wagons for the last 15 years+ and have had difficulty finding one that was nice enough or solid enough....hell they are almost impossible to find in any condition but I finally bought one and without the space to keep all of my wagons, well some things have to go. Thanks again and Im sure whomever ends up as the new owner of this Wagon will surely enjoy the old Woody. Its just a good old car! Passenger side Rear Wheel and Wheel Opening. You can see that it is structurally sound with some corrosion in front of the wheel with some crusty stuff below the end of the stainless rocker molding and some corrosion at the rear wheel lip behind the Mud Flap. Nothing tragic but I want everybody to see as much as possible. Passenger side down low to show you a little corrosion in the rear corner of the rocker down below the molding. This is not a big deal and again if you choose to have the arear repaired and blended with paint then you wouldnt even notice that anything was ever done. If you look down towards the front door you will see a couple of tiny surface spots that I mentioned in the auction. These you have to get on your hands and knees to see and they are not anything serious but I wanted to show what I could. Notice the rear lower corner of the back door edge guard and you'll notice that its a little tired. These are plastic door edge guards with a chrome like finish. You can see how nice and clean the original rocker molding is and how nice the woodgrain looks This is the Drivers side Rear Wheel Opening and in the front corner there is some corrosion which is below the wheel opening molding and would be an easy spot to have repaired and blended if you chose to do so. I also have an NOS Rear Wheel Opening Molding to go with the car. Take a good look at how solid the wheel lip is around the entire perimeter of the wheel house. The Rear Door has the Door edge guards which as I mentioned earlier are the cheap plastic pieces and this one shows a little deterioration but its a simple inexpensive door edge guard. Drivers side Rear Wheel House ...shows good and solid it is overall.....sure there is a little corrosion but towards the front but nothing that cant be straightened out with a little blending. Please let me know if you need more pictures. Thanks againOn Oct-28-10 at 18:55:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Hey guys I wanted to make this real simple. I would like to find somebody who will enjoy this Dodge Woody Wagon for
