1972 Dodge Dart Swinger Classic Autoworx is proud to offer this beautiful entry level Muscle Car, the 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger. This car is fresh with less than 1000 miles since being completed! The owner has decided to part with this beauty to finish another project, so here is your chance! This an excellent opportunity to pick up this great little Dart Swinger at a very realistic price. Lifelong California car (evidence by the blue CA plate on the car in the pics as well as the build sheet), this car is in fantastic condition and ready to go as a daily, weekend or cruise night driver!!! THIS CAR INCLUDES AN ORIGINAL BUILD SHEET FOUND DURING THE RESTORATION!!! INDICATES ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA CAR! PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO VIEW THE LARGE PHOTOS THAT HAVE BEEN LISTED HERE FOR YOUR CONVIENENCE, THEY CLEARLY SHOW THE VEHICLE BETTER THAN I COULD DESCRIBE IN THIS LISTING. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK BEFORE BIDDING. In 1971, The Dart Custom 2-door hardtop coupe became the Dart Swinger, and the standard Swinger became the Swinger Special. The Dodge Dart Swinger for 1972 included a revised grille without the central divider of the 1970 and 1971 items, new surface-mounted side marker lights rather than the previous flush-mount units, a new instrument cluster featuring a large rectangular speedometer and several small round gauges; the AM/FM radio option returned. On the performance end of things, the Dart name had been competing in the NHRA Funny Car class since the mid 60’s. However in 1967, the Dart competed for the first time in the Sports Car Club of America’s Sedan Class with notable success. It remained a terror on the streets for many years with the 318, 340 and 360 engine options. In 1976, the Dodge Dart line was discontinued. Over its 13-year production run, the Dart earned a reputation as a sturdy, dependable car. "The Dart was one of the most successful compact cars ever introduced in the American automobile marketplace," according to R.D. McLaughlin, then vice president of Chrysler's Automotive sales division, "It enjoys a strong owner loyalty and is a car that has established a reputation for reliability and value…these are [some] reasons why we wil continue to market the Dart while introducing the new compact Aspen." Ultimately, the A-body Dart was replaced by the F-Body Dodge Aspen beginning in late spring of 1976— a replacement Chrysler President Lee Iacocca would later lament due to the Aspen's many early quality problems. BODY/ PAINT: The paint on the car is new, less than 2 months old showing no nicks or scratches. The car was painted HEMI ORANGE and the black vinyl stripe kit was added (removable if you wish). The restoration started with a rust free California based Dart Swinger and features all original sheetmetal. Most or the chrome and bright work has either been re-chromed or polished to a bright luster. The glass is in good shape and a new vinyl top was put on the car when it was painted. This car looks great and has a nice overall shine to it, sure to please just about anyone! Be prepared to be the center of attention at your local cruise, car show or just at the stop light in this HEMI Orange Dart Swinger! INTERIOR: The interior has had a lot of work done to it, almost being completely restored. The seats have been restored front and rear, in as new condition. The carpet is new, as are the door panels. The dash has a new dash cap and the headliner is in nice shape. The dash lights and gauges all work properly, aside from the fuel gauge which is currently inoperative. The turn signals work, as do the flashers and dome light. The original AM radio works as well. The Dart has also had a very nice aftermarket Grant GT steering wheel added. Engine/Transmission: The engine is a healthy and rebuilt 318ci V8, mostly stock internals. Performance additions such as a 4v intake manifold and Edelbrock 4v carburetor have been made, as well as a custom Flowmaster dual exhaust. Other add on’s include: Open element Mopar Orange aircleaner, new waterpump, radiator, fuel pump, alternator, starter and battery, as well as normal items such as plugs, wires…etc. The car runs great, no smoke or odd noises. Should provide many years of service and enjoyment! The 904 automatic transmission has also been rebuilt and operates flawlessly. Both engine and transmission are fresh with less than a 1000 miles on them. Brakes, Steering, Suspension and Underbody The car has stock style suspension, completely rebuilt as well as new steering components. New shocks front and rear. The Dart has power steering and Power Disc Brakes. The brakes work well and the car stops straight with a new master cylinder, new brakes and calipers. The wheel choice is by design, with the black stock steel wheels giving an aggressive, no nonsense look to the car. The underbody of the car appears clean and mostly dry and free of rust, including the trunk pan. Everything appears to be straight and in good shape. Let me state this as a disclaimer: This is not a rotisserie built, nut and bolt, frame off or body off restored show car. This car is mostly restored, but not completely. Any ideas that this car will be unloaded and be immaculate and flawless, you’ll likely be disappointed. It is not brand new. We encourage you to come view the car in person BEFORE BIDDING. If you choose not to, then you are acknowledging that you accept the car in it’s current state with your winning bid/ Buy It Now purchase. This is a binding contract. The vehicle is sold AS IS. Its beautiful, fun and could happily be enjoyed as is. The car looks good and is a functional driver and it comes with a clean/ clear title. BID TO WIN!!!
