Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my beautiful 1981 Jeep CJ7 Laredo in original immaculate condition with 99,286 original miles. It has been a life-long Arizona vehicle until a couple months back when I purchased and had it shipped to Kansas where it has been stored in my garage since. It is a 2 registered owner Jeep. A prominent Tucson, AZ attorney bought it new and owned it until about 1 1/2 years ago and sold it to a friend that has known it since new. It is completely rust-free with all original paint, decals and drivetrain. The undercarriage has not been detailed and is very nice original and rust-free also. This Laredo has always been extremely well maintained and runs and drives like new. It is optioned with the Laredo package, tilt wheel, power steering, power brakes, tach and clock. The dealer add-ons include inner-fenders and firewall treated with cosmoline (Yellow/orange stuff pictured on inner-fenders and firewall (Not Rust)) to prevent rust and engine block heater. The original owner must have planned to take it to the mountains or something. It is Olympic White with Nutmeg interior. This Laredo is in amazing original condition and the winning bidder should be very pleased with it. Original Jeeps this nice, especially a 1981 CJ7 Laredo do not come available for sale very often. Winter is coming soon and I would like to get my daily driver in the garage. I have the clear open title to this Jeep with no liens in my possession. Body: The paint is very nice and all original including exterior and interior. There is a ding about the size of dime in the lower front lip of the passenger front fender that is about impossible to see in the pictures. There is also a ding in the chrome grill overlay and headlight bezel. A MINT original chrome grill overlay will be included but I did not want to alter anything original and change it. No other dings that I can find. It is amazing to find a 1981 vehicle, especially a Jeep, with this nice of original paint and decals. The carpet has rubbed some paint off the front interior floors which is pictured but do not have any rust or been repainted and look very nice. The decals are all original and in nice condition with some fading. This beauty has always been garaged for the decals and paint to be still so nice. The decal below the gas cap is faded due to spilled gas. The tailgate has no damage either which is very rare. Drivetrain: The Jeep has the original 258 6 cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. It runs and drives as new. The engine runs very strong, extremely quiet, smooth and keeps very good oil pressure. All emissions equipment in still present and functioning properly. The valve cover has been upgraded to aluminum one since the plastic ones always leak. It does not smoke and does not burn oil. It leaks about a half dozen drops of oil a month, which is amazing for a vehicle this vintage. The transmission shifts smooth, tight and does not make any noise. The clutch works great also and does not slip. The power brakes work great. The power steering works great. The exhaust with catalytic converter is extremely quiet and doesn't leak. Quiet is great when you are cruising with the top down and having a conversation with your passengers. Interior and Top: The interior is near perfect with exception of spot on the dashpad where the original owners wife pulled off one of those hula girls and removed some of the vinyl. Another indication this Jeep has always been garage kept, especially in the blistering Arizona heat. I bought an inclimeter (Tilt Gauge) that will cover the damaged dashpad spot or use any dash mounted accessory to cover it. The seats and carpet are like new with no damage. The floorboards are completely rust-free with all original paint. All gauges and accessories work properly with exception of the clock. The dash has not been cut for aftermarket speakers or non-factory size radio. The top is an NOS Nutmeg Factory Whitco "Jeep Special Equipment" top with all NOS hardware also. It has been installed for about two weeks. Whitco has been out of business for a long time and NOS Nutmeg tops are near impossible to find and very expensive when you do. The spare tire cover is a Bestop one. A Nutmeg Bestop bikini top is also included. Tires and Wheels: The like new 31 X 10.50 tires are mounted on the original chrome wagon wheels. The tires are like new and you will not find a nicer set of original chrome wheels. The spare wheel is chrome also. The original jack is even still mounted under the hood on the inner-fender.
