This little Ranchero runs and drives like a dream !! If you can make it to Sacramento in the next five days please come look at and drive it. It has a high performance 302 CID V8 motor in it that is running very well and has a little bit of a rumble with its dual Flowmaster exhaust system with headers and 2 ½-inch pipes . The engine is backed by a smooth five speed manual transmission and a Ford 8 inch rear end which also functions well. If you wanted to trick-out a performance car you would do everything this little truck has had done to it. The suspension is trick with Mustang II front suspension, rack and pinion power steering, and front disc brakes. The black interior is original, and includes the original trim, gauges, and AM radio. The headliner and dome light are new. This Rig is ready to go and everything works except the horn and speedometer (no cable). The fuel and temperature gauges both work but read low. The vehicle has GREAT looks and AWESOME power and with the fifth gear it gets 20+ miles per gallon on the freeway! These vehicles have an appreciative group of owners any of which would be pleased to own this one. Many reproduction parts are available from Falconparts.com. The ORIGINAL chrome and stainless on this car is in fair condition. It has fair chrome bumpers and a nice original grill. The nice Firestone performance radial tires and old school slot mags finish off that Hot Rod look. This vehicle is in great mechanical condition and it runs and drives well. I looked underneath and also included photos below. This is a nice - SOLID - DRY - California Car (built in San Jose, CA) vehicle that has an awesome - ONE OF A KIND - custom look and ride ! This is a great car for those who like the style of old cars but the driveability of newer cars. If it has been a while since you drove an old car, you have forgotten how valuable power steering and tight weatherstripping is, and how much faster people drive down the freeway now. Your old car would be screaming down the road to keep up with today’s cars. Buy this one, and you will not need to remember: it has rack and pinion power steering. It’s easy to steer, and turns from left to right much quicker than originally, and without any slop. No “sailing” necessary, like you must do with most old cars. Many “restored” old cars overlooked the need to replace weatherstripping, since they typically are only driven in good weather. This one has all new weatherstripping. You close the door and it is closed tight – no window rattles, no water on your leg when it starts to rain. You GLIDE down the freeway at 70 mph thanks to a 5-speed overdrive stickshift transmission. Since the engine is only turning 2,000 rpm at 70 mph, you get 22 miles per gallon. Sure, you could buy a Toyota mini truck and get a few more miles from a gallon of gas, but you have almost 2 times the engine in this mini truck: you have all the power you need. Acceleration is a fun part of driving again. The Details: It is a California-born Ranchero Deluxe. Built in the Ford Plant in San Jose (back in the day when CA had jobs), first sold at Fullerton Ford in Orange County, CA. It was light blue on the outside and black on the inside with a bench seat. It was born with a 260 V-8 and a 4-spd on the floor. It has been upgraded/restored as follows: The front suspension was replaced with a Mustang II suspension kit, similar to that made by Heidt's hot rod shop. Accordingly, it has NO SHOCK TOWERS. You could easily fit a big block in this 2,900-lb car. It also has rack and pinion power steering (and no, it does not use that crap 1980's ford power steering pump). The steering is tight with no slop at all. It is really easy to steer, and steers quickly. All of the front suspension bushings and shocks are new. It has all new rubber (tires and windows) and window felts. The headliner, dome light, dome light bezel, heater core, heater ducts and seals, and glove box liner are also new. It has a 1993 5.0L engine with a 5-speed manual OVERDRIVE transmission. It has a It has a Ford Motorsport E-303 roller lifter camshaft (220 duration at 0.050" and lift of 0.498"). The carburetor is a 650 CFM Holley Double-Pumper. The 3.25:1 open differential is original. It has headers and dual 2.5" exhaust with Flowmaster 40-series mufflers. It rumbles at slow speeds, is quiet at highway speeds, and roars when you punch the throttle. All of the chrome that came with the car is on the car, except for the F-O-R-D letters, Ranchero decals on the front fenders, and the 260 V-8 logo. It has been regularly maintained and driven. I am selling it because I needed something with 4-seats, so I bought a '64 Falcon. This vehicle can be had for quite a bit less than what it is worth all for the need of a quick sale. We prefer a bank to bank wire transfer of funds as payment but we will also accept a bank cashiers check (US only). You need to ship or pickup the car. It is ready to drive across the USA if necessary (although chains will not fit on the back tires, fender clearance issue). Some have asked if I thought they could fly to CA and drive the car back to the eastern or southern USA. I am confident you can drive this car anywhere there isn't snow. I think I mentioned above that chains will probably not fit on the car because I have 9-1/4" tires on the back (7-3/4" in the front, you might be able to switch front to back if you had to). Aside from snow, I foresee no problems. I can also hold the car for a while so you can arrange your flight to CA. I drove it from Sacramento to San Diego and back to pick up a piano (~1,200 mile round trip) with no problems at all. That is when I realized it gets such good highway fuel economy. It is pretty comfortable, too. These old car seats with their springs are much more comfortable than the new car seats. Also, I drive it to work now almost every day. The only time it has ever left me stranded was when dirt got in the fuel and past the fuel filter. I have since replaced the gas tank filler hose, coated and lined the fuel tank, and installed a big canister-type filter from Summit Racing. I have not had any dirt problems since then (4+ years). You can also see additional pictures and a video of the car running at: http://keithandlucy.blogspot.com/ You will have to scroll down a little bit to get past all the pics of my kids. If you like the fact that this has a '93 Mustang 5.0 engine in it, but wish it had the fuel injection still, you can have the fuel injection! I have everything except for the original computer. This car has 2 fuse boxes: the original fuse "box" (and all 5 fuses, or whatever it has), and a separate fuse box with its own power feed and switched/non-switched circuits. I was originally planning on injecting this car, but then our fuel injected car had issues I couldn't figure out (but the mechanic could for $600) and then our van had fuel injection problems, too ($1,100), so I decided carburetors were okay in my book. I believe the 2nd fuse box only has one load on it now (electric fuel pump). One other circuit is for the former electric choke (now disconnected [fuse removed] b/c the holley double pumper has a manual choke). The remaining eight (8) circuits are available for any lights, fuel injection, radio stuff, electric seats, or whatever your heart desires (that a 10 AWG wire can carry). Be careful to not let it get away and please enjoy the auction! This is a great little Ranchero which needs a new owner...is it YOU ?
