Vehicle Detail
We all have a vision and we all have individual tastes that make us unique. At 43 years old I'm still not a fan of rap music or saggy pants but that's just my opinion. Personal preferences aside, I don't think anyone will argue with the fact that this car is simply outstanding from every angle. Buick did 90% of the work when they designed the 1963-1965 first generation Riviera's. The remaining 10% is what sets this car apart from the rest of the pack. From the color combination, to the wheel and tire package choice and the way the car looks just sitting still are just a few reasons this car commands attention. As a lifetime lover and 25 year collector/hobbyist, I have appreciation for almost all vintage autos. My passion is mainly focused on General Motors cars from the 1960's through the early 70's but I occasionally venture outside of that area of interest so my garage is also home to some Fords and Mopars. A true car guy doesn't discriminate. This Riviera is by far one of the prettiest and most attention grabbing cars in my collection. I pursued owning this car for almost 2 years before officially making her mine. Body and paint are stunning. Chrome and brightwork are beautiful. The interior is near perfection and mechanically she's a sweetheart. If I said no more, the photos would finish the story. For those that prefer the longer version, here it is: Body and paint are high quality. Getting down on your knees and sighting down the sides is impressive. The long body panels are amazingly straight. No waves or washboard effect. The body panel gaps, fit and alignment are excellent. The Maroon paint has the texture of a babies bottom and holds an exceptionally high shine and gloss. My exploration of the car has discovered no rust issues or previous damage of any kind. Bumpers have been tripple chromed. All stainless trim, moldings and glass are also excellent. The windshield has a couple superficial scratches but certainly not worthy of replacement. The car shows and presents itself extremely well. Compliments are overwhelming ever time I open my garage and even more so when I take her out. She more than deserves all of them. Truly a gorgeous car. The interior is almost entirely original and near perfection. Seats, carpet, door panels and headliner are excellent. Even the seat padding is still firm and comfortable. The center console with factory floor shift is in wonderful condition as well. The dashboard area is in beautiful shape. Lights, gauges, speedometer, wipers and heater all function correctly. The horn and factory Buick AM/FM radio are currently not working. One look inside the door at the interior is all the convincing anyone will need. There are no excuses to make. The 425 cubic inch Nail-head V8 with 465 foot pounds of torque is powering the car superbly. It starts easily everytime and runs smoothly. Overall performance and acceleration are impressive. 1964 was the first year Buick offered the Turbo-400 automatic transmission and it shifts perfectly. The suspension has been lowered slightly (for appearance) and the car still rides nicely. The power steering turns with one finger and the power brakes stop on a dime. After sitting, there is evidence on my garage floor of typical minor fluid leaks but nothing out of the ordinary or requiring repair. She's extremely reliable and a joy to drive. The 18 inch Torque Thrust wheels and tires are nearly new. I have polished them 3 times since last spring so they have an almost chrome finish. I have only one small complaint regarding drivability. Occasionally, the left front tire will rub on the fender edge. This is causing no damage at this time but can be a little irritating. Easy to rectify with a narrower front tire or raising the suspension just a hair (neither of which would change the appearance) but it hasn't become a big concern. Bottom line: The car runs and drives beautifully and can be trusted any distance without worry. Also, the mechainc that maintains my classic cars is a Buick expert and I will have him perform a general service before she leaves. I'll continue this description by making brief comments under some of the upcoming pictures. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable as I've rotated through and sold members of my collection over the years. I feel fortunate for the kind remarks I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please remember that these are my personal observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my car in person. My home and place of work are both near the Portland Airport and I will gladly pick you up. There are 75 photos to view and they show the car accurately. Feel free to click on the "ask seller a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great also. My phone number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 8PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 19th of October at 7:30PM Pacific. I do, however, reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located towards the bottom of this screen. I'm a kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Riviera's auction. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I personally took every picture you're about to see. No photo has been enhanced, photo-shopped or altered in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her real-life appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE Driving the day these photos were taken. First impressions are always the same. Yes, she's that pretty. Grille, brightwork and bumper are gorgeous. Clear reflections are visible on every panel. Reflections this clear are normally only found on black finishes. Her color is a darker Maroon when out of direct sunlight. No stories to tell. The photos of the interior speak for themselves. Door panels are one example of the nice original interior components. Chrome interior trim is all excellent. The trunk area is exceptionally nice. One of the nicest engine compartments you'll find. Attention to detail is apparent. Undersides are original and solid. Terms of Sale: 46yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly, to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge everything is in fine working order per my description above. I have free and clear Oregon title in my possession and registered to me. I drive this car without concern but she is 46 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form or other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Dennis is a great guy and his direct number is 503-343-4884. He is based here in Oregon and has handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. I have experience in those types of transports as well. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction number, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
