Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1951 Chevy Coupe. It's not a show car for sure, but has excellent floors, trunk, solid body, and frame. I'm selling because I just bought a '56 Chevy (like my 1st car in '64). I've added a fresh 327 Corvette engine (1967 300HP) with '68 040 heads (new stainless valves, roller tip rockers), Edelbrock Performer intake, Edelbrock carb with electric choke, new HEI disty and wires, 327-350HP cam and lifters (L79). The car is converted to 12V, and has new wiring front-to-back, with a mini-fuse panel mounted behind the access cover on the firewall. You can get at the fuses from inside or outside of the car. Also added new battery and 12V alternator, and a new aluminum radiator (runs COOL). I used Chassis Engineering motor and trans mounts. I cut the trans mount and made it easily removable. The interior is decent with new rugs. Seats and headliner are nicely done by previous owner. The steering column is a '59 Impala, with a Grant-like wheel added temporarily. A decent '59 wheel is in the trunk (see photos). It has a fresh Saginaw 4 speed with 3.11 1st gear, perfect with the 3.08 '55 Chevy rear for cruising around town or zipping down the highway. I've added traction bars to the rear, and re-angled them to bring the snubbers up. The shifter is Hurst bolt-on handle type, with an old school handle with vintage 30's Piels bakelite beer tap knob. I've added under-floor power brakes with Corvette-style dual master cylinder, and all new brake lines. The exhaust system is fresh from motor to bumper, with turbo style mufflers. I've also added new radial tires all around on used Rally Wheels (cream color) with police caps. The rear has new air shocks, and the filler is on the bumper tray near the rear license plate. All the hard work is done, and what remains is as follows: 1. New fuzzies needed for the door windows and fresh weatherstrip for doors and trunk; 2. Fix the dings and dents (cherry out the body and stainless) and paint; 3. Add the '59 Impala wheel (needed to make the turn signals cancel). 4. Add tunes (rear speaker wires in front right kick panel). You can certainly have fun with this as-is and fix things as you go. Car is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I want a $1000 deposit at time of sale, and the remainder in certified bank check funds (or cash). Buyer is responsible for transporting the vehicle after sale. This is a custom car, nearly 60 years old, and as such a warranty is neither expressed nor implied. If you buy it, it's yours. I've been as truthful as I can be. Feel free to ask questions! On Oct-11-10 at 09:48:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Also needed, if desired, is a handbrake and cables. Not possible to use the original due to rear axle change and room required for V8 exhaust. On Oct-11-10 at 14:16:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Typo in the answered question below, should read " '53 - '62 Corvettes."
