Prestige Classics was a well-known maker of quality replicas. In addition to the '57 Tbird, they also offered replicas of the early Corvette. The body is fiberglass and features chrome metal bumpers, glass windshield and door glass, and the distinctive lift-off porthole hardtop. It is powered by a small-block Ford (302, I believe, but it could be a 289) with automatic transmission and rack-and-pinion steering. It runs out well. Almost everyone who sees it thinks it is an authentic T-bird. It is great fun to cruise in, especially with the top off. Every head turns as you glide by. The vehicle is listed as a "1986 Cust", that is, custom. A certificate of origin was issued by Prestige Classics in 1982, and a custom title was issued in 1986. It has been owned by a friend of mine for the last 15 years or so, for whom I am selling it. The car does show some blemishes and wear items. The driver's seat seam has a split; the interior appears to be the original. The body has a few minor scrapes and dings, and under the hood needs a good detailing. The passenger door glass has a crack, and the attaching clamps for the top need to be better secured. Although the engine runs great, there is some lifter clatter on one cylinder.
