Up for auction is a 1969 Datsun Roadster SPL311-25989 according to the VIN plate. I purchased this car as a project along with two other Roadsters, but I simply don’t have the time to devote to all three cars, so I’m keeping the one to fix up and the other as a parts car, but this one can be yours. This car had been restored in 1982 by the previous owner. By the VIN number, this car is a 1969 1600, but everything on it says it is a 2000. It has the square side markers, U20 engine with SU carbs, black sun visors, the double row fuse box, and a 5 speed transmission. To me, the car has all the features of a 2000, the only feature saying otherwise is the VIN plate. The VIN plate is not original as it was stolen off the car at some point, so the VIN number will have to be checked on the chassis. If someone can tell me exactly where to find the VIN number on the chassis, I'll be happy to add it to the listing. First off, the paintjob needs attention as I’ve tried to show with all the pictures. There’s rust in some places and the front floorboards will need to be replaced. The brakes, clutch system, and fuel system will need to be cleaned of course. The side-markers, taillights, turns signals, and flashers do not work, but are probably just dry joints. The car needs a new soft top, but the frame is included. The driver’s seat is the worst part of the interior. The ignition currently on the car does not have a key, but I can gladly supply the ignition and key off my parts car so that’s not a problem. I only don’t have a key to the gas cap. The interior vinyl on the car is in pretty decent shape – door panels are in great shape. The passenger seat is still quite fair, but it has a few splits in the vinyl. The windshield has NO cracks at all – and the other windows are also in excellent condition. The soft top frame is included with the car and is in great shape. The engine – it turns and when I put the plug wires from my 2000 on the car, it fired up for a second. When trying to start it, I used an auxiliary tank as not to interfere with the current fuel system that will need cleaning. The headlights work, the taillights are good (just need to replace the lower left taillight bulb), and the radio is loud and clear. The reserve is reasonable.
