HELLO EVERYONE, I HAVE A VERY NICE 1979 FORD F250 XLT RANGER EXTENDED CAB 4X4 CAMPER SPECIAL THAT IS A VERY DEPENDABLE FAMILY TRUCK. I BOUGHT THIS ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO WHEN I LIVED IN WASHINGTON STATE WHERE THEY DO NOT USE SALT. I AM A VERY PICKY MECHANICAL ENGINEER, AND I HATE USING NICE VEHICLES IN WISCONSIN IN THE WINTER BECAUSE OF THE SALT. SINCE I MOVED TO WISCONSIN I HAVE MAYBE USED IT A COUPLE TIMES IN WINTER, SO IT REALLY HAS SEEN ALMOST NO SALT IN IT'S LIFETIME AND IT SHOWS. IT IS THE DESIRABLE HEAVY DUTY CAMPER SPECIAL WITH FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS AND A LEGENDARY DANA 60 FRONT AXLE WITH LOCKOUTS (THE BEST THERE IS). THE CAMPER SPECIAL ALSO WAS EQUIPPED WITH WIRING IN THE SIDE OF THE BOX FOR YOUR CAMPER OR TRAILER. THIS MODEL XLT ALSO HAS THE TWO TONE PAINT, EXTRA CHROME TRIM, FULL CARPETING WHICH IS VERY NICE, AND DUAL FUEL TANKS FOR LONG TRIPS. THIS 79 HAD THE 400 ENGINE WITH 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND 2 HI, 4 HI, NEUTRAL, AND 4 LO TRANSFER CASE. THE INTERIOR HAS THE SPLIT FRONT BENCH SEAT AND THE NICE REAR BENCH SEAT INSTEAD OF THE TWO FACING JUMP SEATS. THE FRONT BENCH IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND WAS COVERED WHEN I BOUGHT IT. UNDER THE COVER, IT HAS YOUR NORMAL FRAYS ON THE DRIVER SIDE BUT NO DAMAGE TO THE FOAM OR CONTOUR OF THE SEAT. I LOVE SITTING IN THE SEAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE ROOM TO MOVE AROUND AND CHANGE POSITIONS. IN TOTAL, THE TRUCK HAS SEAT BELTS FOR SIX PEOPLE. THIS WAS OUR FAMILY TRUCK THAT HAS BEEN WITH US FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS. I KEPT IT IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND ALWAYS CHANGED OIL ABOUT EVERY 3,000 MILES. A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD A BRAND NEW CLUTCH INSTALLED AND AT THE SAME TIME HAD THE ENGINE GONE THROUGH WITH NEW BEARINGS, HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP, SEALS, AND TIMING GEARS AND CHAIN. AT THE SAME TIME I HAD NEW MUFFLERS PUT ON AND THE FRONT END GONE THROUGH WITH NEW UNIVERSALS WITH GREASE FITTINGS. THERE PROBABLY IS NOT 5,000 MILES ON ALL THIS WORK. A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD IT PAINTED AND IT STILL SHINES UP NICE AS YOU CAN SEE. I HATE TO LET IT GO, SINCE IT PROBABLY HAS BEEN THE BEST TRUCK I HAVE EVER OWNED, BUT WE ARE HAVING OUR FIFTH BABY AND IT IS JUST NOT PRACTICAL FOR US ANYMORE.
