Vehicle Detail
1969 Ford LTD "429" Country Squire Station Wagon In all my years of collecting classic cars I've never had one with such detailed and documented history. There is a neatly organized 3-ring binder that walks through the path this Wagon has taken. Purchased new here in Portland Oregon at Francis Ford on May 18th, 1969 and resided with that original female owner until November of 2008. Bought new by a local high school teacher and tennis coach. To say that this car has been loved and cared for all of it's life would be an understatement. There is even a note that documents the date and location the mileage rolled over 99,999. The date was January 27, 1981 in front of the school. Only 53,000 miles have been logged in the last 30 years. "Sherman", as he's been called all of his life, was special ordered with the N-code Thunder Jet 429-4V engine, air-conditioning, DISC brakes, 8 track player, etc. Deluxe Marti report is also included in the file documenting the factory components. Meticulous service and maintenance since day one. Oil changed every 2000 miles with very few exceptions. All records on file. Body and paint are excellent. Interior is as close to perfection as possible and the car runs and drives wonderfully. This is an extremely rare car and finding them in this condition is nearly impossible. As a life-long car lover and 25 years collector, my passion leans towards cars from the 1960's through the early 70's. Even though Camaro's, Chevelle's, Mustangs and Mercury Cougars are my true passion, I've always had a soft spot for Wagons. This is one of my last to go and the nicest I've ever had. Simply an outstanding surviving example of a time when real Station Wagons roamed the streets. The body and paint condition is excellent. Always garage kept. A solid, rust-free car that has never seen salted roads or harsh de-icer chemicals. Even the imitation wood siding is in wonderful original shape. Bumpers and roof rack have been re-chromed and the original stainless trim and moldings are very nice. The glass is also very nice with only slight wiper marks on the windshield. All windows roll up and down smoothly. Factory ordered in Raven Black exterior with Country Squire trim package, roof rack, etc. Paint holds an impressive shine and gloss. Only a handful of minor blemishes in the form of tiny nicks and chips can be found upon very close inspection. The car shows and presents itself extremely well. Compliments and words of praise are non-stop and he deserves all of them. The upcoming photos will honestly document the cars appearance. Truly a beautiful car. The interior is as near perfection as possible. Seats, carpet, door panels, headliner, dashboard and cargo area are gorgeous. The dash pad was restored. Every knob and switch operate as intended. Even the factory "rim-blow" horn and original radio work perfectly. All lights, speedometer and gauges function correctly. Original owners manual and warranty card are in the glovebox. A quick look inside the car will convince anyone. There are no excuses to make. The 429-4V Thunder Jet V8 performs superbly. Starts easily everytime and has impressive acceleration in all ranges. The C-6 automatic transmission shifts perfectly. Large 9 inch rear-end with 2:80 gear ratio operates church quiet and the factory HD suspension still provides a very smooth and comfortable ride. In fact, this car doesn't squeak, rattle, shake, pull or vibrate. Several thousands of dollars have been spent keeping the car in top-knotch mechanical shape at all times in the past 41 years. There are a couple of single repair orders in the file (photos shown) that total nearly $2000 each for major servicing over the years. The suspension is firm and the factory power DISC brakes stop on a dime. The 15" chrome Magnum 500 wheels and BF Goodrich tires are brand new and a very tasteful upgrade while keeping originality in mind. Considering this cars maintenance history and care, it is one of the finest running and driving cars anyone will sit behind the wheel of. Capable of driving any distance without concern. Simply a joy to drive with surprising power. I will make make brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable as I've sold members from my collection over the years. I'm grateful for the kind remarks I've received. My opinions have served me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my car in person to anyone with genuine interest. My home and place of work are both very near the Portland Airport and I will gladly pick you up. There are just over 100 pictures to view and I apologize if you get dizzy scrolling through all of them. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 8PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Wednesday evening the 27th of October at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Station Wagon. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I welcome answering questions so please don't hesitate to contact me. I took every picture you're about to see with my handheld Canon digital camera. No photo has been enhanced or altered in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to real-life appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE Crossing one of Portland's many bridges the day I took these photos. Please notice the hair-line age crack in the tailight lense. The license plates are day-one originals and the only set he's ever had. The rear power window was working perfectly but is currently needing assistance to go up and down. The wood siding on the very front of the drivers fender was over polished by an ambitious detailer many years ago. Yes, the hideaway headlights function properly. Even the back-up lights come on in reverse. Left front fender: The only side trim flaw to mention. Only visible on close inspection if pointed out. The interior needs no written description. I have not tried an 8-track in the tape player. Original spare tire, jack, etc. Factory AM radio works perfectly. Documented mileage is 153,788. Power rear window switch. Extremely original and sanitary engine compartment. The air-conditioning system is 100% complete and has been serviced throughout the years. Most recent service was just a few thousand miles ago but do to sitting it's needing a charge. We don't salt our roads here in Oregon. The undersides of the car are excellent. Please see the paint flaws on the lower corner of the drivers door. These very tiny blemishes are not noticeable and have remained unchanged. Just under $2300.00 was spent on service a 1000 miles ago. Terms of Sale: 41yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my car honestly, to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. I have 100% faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order. I have free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I would drive this car anywhere but she is over 40 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. A $1000.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form or other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. Dennis is a great guy and his direct number is 503-343-4884. He is based here in Oregon and has handled my transport needs perfectly for the last 3 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97267. Coast-to-Coast enclosed transport is around $1500.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange and I've handled these types of transports. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction number, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
