Vehicle Detail
~~oo00oo~~ Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1971 (Last of the chrome bumper models) Long Wheel Base (“LWB”) saloon This is a very elegant and original presentation Long Wheel Base (“LWB”) Silver Shadow saloon finished in English white with ebony Connolly hides with burgundy piping and carpets. This burgundy is carried thru to the hand painted fine-lines on the waist-rails and hubcap trim rings. The car is personally owned by my senior RR craftsman and mechanic so it has been restored and maintained professionally. As an experienced RR mechanic, any work required has been done and performed correctly. This LWB has in recent times undergone considerable refurbishment. The new paint job is stunning and cost some $10,000 to include a replacement of the Vinyl top in genuine factory specification “white” Everflex. The paint is almost perfect without stone-chips, scratches or marks. The interior burl walnut wood is immaculate with the dash, console and 4 doors having been recently redone by craftsman, JC Wood Finishers, at some $2,000 to achieve the correct high-end finish. The leather is nice with no unsightly wear or tears and presents in very nice condition. Any “graininess” you see in the pictures is the natural creases that Connolly hide leather develops. Carpets and headliner are good with only a few of the typical small stains at the base of the “C” pillar. All features and functions are working; electric windows, electric seats etc. All four windows work well and effortlessly up and down and the rear windows are not slow and “tired” as seen on many LWBs given the heavier glass. The Air conditioning blows icy cold with a new compressor having been recently fitted. The heater and air distribution system as part of the climate control work as they should. The car also benefits from certain subtle but useful improvements that only a specialized Rolls-Royce expert owner could implement. These include an updated quartz clock from a later model Rolls-Royce which looks the same but will keep very accurate time, a period correct looking temperature gauge where the cigarette lighter was once located (which is a very useful add-on that, for some reason, Rolls-Royce neglected to include on all 69-76 sedans) and factory Rolls-Royce limousine rear head-rests. Mechanically, this Shadow is a very fine example. Maintained by an expert, the engine is smooth and quiet and the steering right. The hydraulics/brakes have all been correctly overhauled with a list of parts replaced too long to list here. Needless to say, the brakes are perfect. This LWB also drives very well, considerably quieter and smoother than you would normally expect from a Silver Shadow of this era. You can drive on even the bumpiest of roads and there are none of the loud knocks, thumps or rattles normally associated with these models. The presentation under the hood is testament of a passionate Rolls-Royce owner and care-taker. The mileage of 75,000 appears consistent with the condition of the car but is not verifiable. The car comes with its original Rolls-Royce hand-book (specific to the Long Wheel Base sedan), service booklet, and driver/owner card. Glass, stainless and body bright-work is all good. Chrome on the bumpers is in good serviceable condition. The rear “opera” window does have a small crack at the base but it has been controlled (a process which prevents the crack from spreading). It cannot be seen without very close inspection and to this end I have enclosed photographs in the attached link. As Rolls-Royces of this era adopted laminated rear glass windows, there is no risk of it shattering and it does not leak. ~~ This Silver Shadow LWB is one of those hard-to-find examples where a considerable amount of money and time has been spent out of passion and enthusiasm - considerably more than the car's actual value. This makes for a great opportunity for the purchaser to capitalize on the previous owners’ heavy investment. ~~ Many more photos can be seen at the link below. I encourage all bidders to review these in detail to best appreciate this fine example. Click HERE to see additional photos! International bidders always welcome! FILMCLIP ~~oo00oo~~ This Rolls-Royce is part of my private collection. I am not a broker or retail car dealer; I am a professional car collector of some 25 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take a lot of pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid of make an offer. You are bidding and/or making offers to buy WITHOUT conditions. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above, I reserve the right the keep the deposit and resell the vehicle by re-listing or to another bidder. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard but the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 43 years old. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-43 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country”. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars from where I bought them to my home. PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, DO NOT BID. ~~oo00oo~~ Click HERE to see 100s of additional photos! International bidders always welcome!
