You are bidding on a 1956 Chrysler Imperial 2dr Southampton. This is a very rare vehicle with only 2094 produced. Per the sales brochure- "It was created expressly for the comparatively few who could afford to buy any car i the world, regardless of price." I can't tell you how many currently exist but i can say that Jay Leno personally owns two of these fine automobiles. This vehicle was part of a local auto aficionados prized collection and has been stored in a barn for the last 25 years. Again this car has not seen the road for 25 years. Everything on the vehicle worked at the time it was parked including the air conditioning. The Imperial's history has been traced back to the day it was unloaded at the local Chrysler dealership. At the time of delivery it was the most expensive vehicle at the dealership priced at $6,341.65. All history and literatue items including sales brochure will be included with the purchase of the car. The exterior colors are Rosewood Tan and Sand Dune beige. Interior: White and rosewood. The imperial starts, runs, and drives well. It will need the gas tank flushed and is currently running off a bottle of gas under the hood. Condition: The pictures of this vehicle are only a few week old Engine: 354 Hemi (runs very well, no noises, or smoke) Transmission 2 speed powerflite Mileage 100,000+ Interior: The interior is in good condition for the age of the car. The leather seats were redone around 1973 using NOS leather and fabric. The carpet is worn and the headliner will need to be replaced. The steering wheel will need to be refurbished. Exterior: The exterior is in need of restoration. The paint is worn as can be seen in pictures. Other areas needing attention are the tires, rockers, chrome, drivers door latch, brake lines, and leaf springs. The drivers leaf spring is currently broken which is common with these heavy Imperials. The springs are readily available online. Recently replaced items: All new brake wheel cylinders, tune up consisting of points, distributor cap, spark plug wires, and spark plugs. The starter was recently rebuilt as well. I have tried to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible and encourage anyone interested to personally inspect or have a third party inspection completed.
