Vehicle Detail
Let me just start this listing by suggesting that if you do not have the space for this car, you may no want to consider her. This is a very special Cadillac, which previously belonged to a good friend of mine and his family since its original purchase. This Cadillac was first acquired in 1971, by the father of my good friend Hugh, at the request of his mother, who spotted the car, and carried on about it untill it was driven home to her that very same evening. As the story was told to me, the car spent its entire life within the family, which consisted of Hughe's parents, and his SEVEN brothers. I could go on forever, as we did together the day I purchased her, but you probably get the drift by now. This is a single family owned car that I would love nothing more than to keep;however, this is one real, real, big cruiser, and it is eating the greater portion of my garage. I can not say enough about the overall mechanical condition of this car, as I just drove her 200 miles to a car show in Atlantic City last week, on the parkway, seventy miles per hour, ac blowing cold, and a feeling akin to what I would imagine floating on a cloud being. The motor and trans are solid, big time. The brakes and stopping power are solid, big time. The steering and manuverability, for such a large car are amazing. I see no reason for any mechanical changes in her drivetrain and suspension whatsoever. The paint on this car is reasonable for her age, she has been sprayed once, in what I was told was her original color. The trunk has a few surface areas that could use touch up, and the front has a few marks, none of which stand out in any odd fashion. If I had to sum it up, I would call it a great 'driver' quality paint, with the potential for a pretty cheap touch up, that would render her near perfect. I should have had her for sale at the car show last week, but this was a decision made today, as it will be snowing here in 60-90 days, and I need my garage space for my plow. The interior is in good condition, the driver side door panel needs repair, this can be done cheap with online acquired parts. The back seat has some fading from the sun hitting it, but it is cloth, and hardly an issue. Any hobbyist could pull, and dye the seat covers with success. I would leave it alone, the car is lovely just as she sits. The under carriage is clean, and rust free. The car is clean, and rust free. If there is any rust anywhere that I have not spotted, it is new to me, and would be a great surprise. Look at my feedback, it is perfect for good reason. I have lifted the side skirts with no problems, and even there, the car is clean. Along with this vehicle being in wonderful order, she is sporting four brand new tires, and a beautiful Meguires three part wax that took me more than 40 hours at the start of summer. With the acception of a few minor needs, this car is truly a pleasure in every way. Her history is solid, her owners have been solid, she has spent the past 16 years primarily garaged and driven as a Sunday queen. The passenger side power window could use a new switch, as it sometimes takes a couple of flicks to raise the window, but always functions from the driver side. I welcome inspection, and will photograph any additional portions of the vehicle by request. I am setting a very fair reserve on this vehicle hoping that she ends up in the hands of someone that will cherish her in the same way that we all have, since she was new. All questions will be answered promptly, good luck, and god speed! On Sep-26-10 at 12:32:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Just a quick note: Several bidders are asking about the driving order of this car ie; "Can I drive it here, can I drive it there, will I need to ship it here or there?". Let me clarify; this is not a rusty 71 Cadillac, sitting in my mothers back yard awaiting the "miracle auction" on ebay. I am a small collector, this car is privately owned, garaged, and has been well cared for through out its life. This car can be shown, as is. This car can be driven, as is. I would drive this car home, on the interstate, 1200 miles, to Florida, with no reservation whatsoever. Again, read my feedback, I do not buy, or sell garbage. This is a legitimate, unmolested, survivor. Maybe my listings are too friendly, I do not know, if you are serious about the car, and have any reservation at all, fly in and take her for a spin. At my reserve, someone is going to get a real nice car, hopefully the one they have always dreamed of. I am fair for good reason, this service allows me to enjoy my cars, and sell them to a world wide crowd when it is time to move on. I love the hobby, and plan to be involved for as long as I am healthy. That is it, no surprises, bid with confidence, we represent correct. On Sep-26-10 at 18:30:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Another couple of things: If you are the winning bidder, I can, and will accommodate your shipping company in any way necessary, in order to make certain that this transaction flies as smoothly as possible. I will list my cell number here, so that if you would rather speak with me, have several questions, or just plain dislike computers, you have a way to put the pieces together without much need in typing (570-872-7805). My name is Richard, and I am adding answers to frequently asked questions in an effort to stream line the process. If I sound a bit partial to my car, its because I am. Those of you who are car guys get it. This cadillac is one of those cars that causes guys of its era to light up when I bring it around. I am 40 years old, but my neighbor is 59, and he literally spent several days hanging out in my garage this summer, just to be with the car. I have another friend in his late forties that went for a ride with me, and couldn't wipe the smile from his face, or stop telling the stories of when he had his Coup De Ville. When I showed her in Atlantic City, guys were on her before I was in my parking spot. When we returned from lunch, it was the same. The car has grown on me, and I have a whole new respect, and understanding of what it is to own, and roll around in a classic Cadillac. As my reserve has been met, and all cards are on the table, let me just say that at this price, you will never, in your life, own a classic car this sweet; point blank, and period. Enjoy gentlemen, and ladies. R On Sep-29-10 at 06:51:16 PDT, seller added the following information: A final note, for the final day. Some bidders have suggested that photos have the ability to mis-represent a car at times. I have been asked if the car is true to her photos several times, and I do understand. So, in order to clarify; all photos of this car were shot with a Nikon D-60 10 megapixel digital SLR. There have been no digital enhancements whereas the pictures are concerned, what you see is what I shot, two weeks ago, in a church parking lot, approximately two miles from my home. I spoke with a most pleasurable gentleman last night who obviously knew what he was looking at, an avid Cadillac collector, who simply said, "I know exactly what this car is, she is a well maintained vehicle that I can actually drive, and enjoy. If I wanted a 30,000 mile $20,000.00 car to trailer around, I would be looking else where." I would have to say that his interpretation of my Cadillac was right on the money. This is a real nice, super straight Cadillac, that you can drive, and enjoy, without making yourself a mental mess over a car that is of the same value as the down payment on a home. I wish you all well in your bidding, and look forward to our final transaction.
