Vehicle Detail

I bought this truck for my kid who just got his license six months ago. The truck was bought from a long retired state trooper who drove this truck daily. At 84, his wife wouldn't let him drive anymore. He really didn't want to let it go. I drove it home and it sat for about three months as I did some rust repair on the vehicle. If you notice the top and rear of the bed and along the bottom rails (under the chrome strip) It had some scratches and rust. Also some rust through spots. I repaired the rust and rolled on Duraliner. It came out excellent! Looks great. The rest of the body is in pretty good shape. A couple of spots and minor scratches, but it looks real good. The interior is in fabulous condition! No rips or tears. There is one small stain on the drivers seat. This truck has 69,730 original miles. I was told by the Trooper that he had the engine rebuilt two years ago. The oil was clean! IMPORTANT: This truck has an oil leak coming from the back of the driver's side Valve cover. A simple gasket would do it. IMPORTANT: For some reason (and this is why I don't want my kid to have it) is that is stalls! It's as if a kill switch has been activated. It may run for an hour or longer with no problems and then it just cuts out! The last time it happened it was at night when my boy got out of work and only drove it for 15 minutes. I've had it checked out. The vacuum lines and emition controls are okay. They did find a vacuum hose that wasn't connected. I've had the Ignition Control Module replaced too. It doesn't have a computer so it would be all hit or miss with my shop. I've decided to stop throwing money at it. I think it's an electrical problem, maybe a sensor, because after it stalls it won't start for about 15 minutes. I was going to put in a new rollover swicth to see if that was the problem, but I'm done. This is a neat little truck with a bed liner and I just had the windsheild replaced because a branch came down in the last storm. It passed Massachusetts Inspection with flying colors back in July. The tires, wheels, and brakes are good. The lights out on the radio dial. This truck is an AUTOMATIC. I don't know why it won't let me change from the dropdown menu. The only choice is manual. There is NO reserve!
