Up for sale: 1981 CJ5 This is a LITTLE bit of a project jeep. Needs carb rebuilt or replaced and the wiring gone thru. It does turn over and the engine and transmission are good. The Jeep does run when gas is fed thru the raggedy old carb I6 258 engine with T150 3-speed manual transmission and Dana20 4wheel transfer case (all in good shape) This jeep has power steering and front disc brakes. 11" drum brakes in the rear. It has almost new Goodyear GSA 30 x10.5 tires on 15 in Jeep rims. Frame is in good shape with almost no rust...previous owner had undercoated the jeep. Tub has minimal rust thru (a couple of sheet metal patches behind the seats, but none in the front pans where your feet are. One rust spot in the back bed about as big as a quarter. Body mounts are good and strong, but the orginal body mount bushings could probably be replaced as they are 30 years old. No rust or damage on the windshield frame. Glass is good and the wipers work. At some point, the rocker panels were repaired with welded in panels and there is no rust there like you would find on a Jeep this age. Interior floor of jeep was painted with bedliner by previous owner..it looks good and has probably prevented a lot of rust damage. The paint job is TSC Vintage Series Massey Fergusun Red. It comes in automotive paint sprayer form or rattle can touch up. Easy to maintain your paint job when scuffed up by runaway shopping carts or those pesky branches when off-roading. This jeep has NO tops at all, but a little hunting around on ebay or craigslist would probaly yeild an economical remedy for the buyer. :) There is NO front or rear bumper...new stock front bumper from JC Whitney is $90....I"ve seen them used for as little as $25 on craigslist.....Just havent gotten around to hunting one down. Drivers side seat has a tear in it. Passengers side is good. Like I said this is a little bit of a project.... but it is not a non-running rust bucket like some of the stuff out here. A shade tree mechanic could have this done in a couple of weekends and be driving for about $300 in parts. I do have the title for this Jeep ("open" Ohio title) I selling cause I bought this jeep on a whim and dont have the time or money to fix up this one and the 1965 CJ5 I am restoring....so I am selling this on for what I have in it.....so the the reserve is low and the auction is short.
