Vehicle Detail

This vehicle is a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1, fastback coupe. Here is a little history on it -- it was purchased on the west coast in the 90's and back then was used as my everyday driver for several years. In 2000 I had a lot of restoration work done to it. This included an engine overhaul (top end rebuild), brand new custom exhaulst, complete suspension rebuild, interior restoration, brake system rebuild, and some body metal replacement. Since all the work was done (almost 10 years ago), this car has been driven very little at all. It has been sitting uncovered for several years, and unfortunately the weather has been taking a toll on the body exterior. The car starts up and runs fine, although I haven't driven it in several months. The engine & transmission are in working order. In addition, all of the everyday driving functions work...wiper & pump, turn signals & headlights, interior lights, mirrors, door handles & latches, stereo, ...ect. I guess the point I'm trying to make is...mechanically this car is in pretty good shape, what it really needs is some bodywork. The car has been started and driven around the block every couple of months over the years, but at this point I think it's best to try to find a new home for it, and hopefully find someone who may want to get this really cool car back to its full potential. My aim here is to describe this car to the best of my ability so you know exactly what you are bidding on. The car VIN and engine VIN match, and rest assured this car is a real 'Mach 1'. I didn't put the mileage in the auction details, because I'm not exactly sure what it is...I viewed to odometer turn over to 00,000 in the 90's, but I don't know if that was for the first or second time. The title is free & clear, and will be signed over at pickup. *When picking up car prepair to tow it. I have not driven it in over a year (just been starting every once and a while). =========================================================================================================================================================== ** I do know a good bit about this vehicle, and I welcome any questions you may have about it. I will try to answer any questions the best (and as accurately) as I can. For staters...here are some details about the condition of the car. (If you would like to discuss the car with me over the phone please message me through ebay and I will then send you my phone number)** Body: Overall, the body is what needs the most attention. The hood metal is in good shape though there are cracks in the paint. The front fenders are in good condition without any major dents or dings to be seen. Overall the doors are in good shape, though they do have some rust on the lower bottoms. The passenger side door has a couple spots which were once repaired (skillfully with metal patches), though it appears they are now beginning to rust a little to. The roof has no dents or dings, although it does have some surface rust in some spots (doesn't look to be too bad...no pitting). The quarter panels do have some rust at the bottom edge in front of both rear tires. The passenger side lower quarter (behind the tire) was replaced at a local body shop about 10 years ago. The driver rear lower quarter has some rust, but I do have a brand new replacement metal lower quarter sheet metal panel that will be included with car (never got a chance to have that installed). The worst of the body issues is obviously the truck deck lid at the bottom edge (last I checked a replacement panel was being manufactured which could be fairly easily welded on). Both hood hinges (and latch), door hinges, truck hinges, and door window regulators are in-line, secure, and work well. • Glass: All window glass is in good condition with no chips or cracks. • Floors & trunk floor: The two rear seat floor pans and the trunk pan were replace with new metal about 10 years ago. Also a brand new sound deadener set was installed under the carpets. • Wheatherstripping & rubber: is in good shape, most of all of it was replaced when the interior restoration was done. • Paint: Does not appear to be original. (note: this car does not have any spots with excessive body filler or bondo coverups) Mechanical: • Engine - The 351 Cleveland (H code 2V) is in good working order. The top half was rebuilt and reinstalled with a brand new gasket set (in 2000). When that work was done I went ahead and replaced the timing chain, water pump, belts, and radiator hoses. The cooling system (radiator) is in good condition and doesn't leak. • Suspension - The front and rear suspension was completely replaced about 10 years ago. New leaf springs, bushings, and shocks on rear. New front coil springs and shocks were also installed, along with a really nice anti-sway bar, and lower control arms. • Exhaust - The exhaust system is sound with no problems. I had a custom exhaust system built about 10 years ago. The engine has headers on it, attached to them is a very well crafted custom exhaust system I had built which has two dual chambered Flowmaster mufflers (the car has a pretty mean sound when running). • Transmission - The C6 automatic transmission was completely overhauled about 15 years ago. I've never ever had a transmission issue or problem with this car since I've been the owner...and still don't. • Brakes - Brake system was in perfect working order at point of all restoration work...at this point it should be checked out before extensive driving • Other details - The AC system has been removed. Interior: All seats have been reupholstered with original style 'Mach 1' upholstery with red inserts and original seat emblems. A new replacement authentic style 'Mach 1' carpet was installed (with sound deadener & original style padding underneath) that has red vinyl at front seat foot area. Includes new original style 'running pony' heavy rubber floormats. A new headliner was installed, so the material is nicely in place and not hanging down or damaged. Also includes Grant GT replacement steering wheel with removable steering wheel security system. Electrical: Vehicle doesn't have any electrical problems to speak of. Climate controls work (except AC, of course). All wiring harnesses are fine and sending signal to the appropriate places. Included Parts & Accessories: • Brand new Shop Manual set in perfect condition • Driver side replacement 1/4 panel sheet metal piece with truck dropdown metal included • Grant steering wheel removal/lock system installed • New stereo system - Panasonic radio w/cassette. Sony Xplod speaker system (matching red color speaker cones). Also includes remote control. • Locking hood hold-down latches w/key • Dashboard cover • Spare rim and tire • Wheel locks • All extra parts I have available (latter bars, original anti-sway bar, ...ect) *** THANK YOU FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION.
