1994 Alfa Romeo 164LS Twin Cam 5 Speed Manual Transmission. Featuring Alfa's famous 3 liter V6 engine with 4 cam shafts (two per bank). Always maintained, the oil has been changed every 4,000 miles. The engine has never been overheated and uses no oil. The performance is smooth and responsive. The timing belt and right motor mount were changed in 2008. The clutch was changed at 60,000 miles due to a lousy throw out bearing, and it is smooth and does not slip. The 5 speed transmission has no syncro problems and works nicely. The climate control has no issues with the stepper motors and works well (even the digital display works as it should). The A/C compressor was replaced this year. The cooling system has never given any problems. Everything works and works as it should. There are no warning lights on. The exhaust does not leak, and the tires are OK. There are no cracks in the glass. Included are 4 never mounted phone dial style alloy wheels with machined front surfaces, that are fresh from the factory rebuilders. The owners books and original window sticker are included. The interior is like new with no issues in the leather, no dash cracks, and with no headliner problems. But, here's the rub. This has been our family winter car since 1996. Never used in the summer, it has sported snow tires and has given excellent service each winter. While our neighbors are rolling over their Suvs, sliding through stop signs, and getting 12 mpg, this Alfa has been comfortable, always under control, and always gives that Alfa driving experience while saving gas. It is, however, rusting under the car. There is rust on the outside by the right rear fender well by the gas lid, otherwise the exterior is very nice (see the photo). There has been a hole in the trunk floor that has been sealed (see the photo). The jacking points are getting quite crunchy and may not support the car. The seams under the rocker panels on both sides are opening up. There are several spots in the floor boards that are getting holes. The fuel lines and brake lines were replace several years ago along with the rear axle beam, so they are still good. The photos show the rust underneath of the car. If it was not for the rust under the car, we would keep this for another 14 or more years.
