Vehicle Detail

We are selling this 1954 IHC R162 crew cab cabover. This is a very rare unit! We have seen a number of cabover IHC's over the years, but this is the first crew cab we have seen. We have owned several convential crew cabs, but is the only COE or crew cab we have EVER seen or owned made by IHC of the 50's era. IHC calls it the "Curb side cab" as it only has one rear door, and its of course on the curb side. First the good points. It is about 95% rust/cancer free. I can see some rust on bottom of rear door, but not very bad. A small patch of rust on cowl above right front fender. Floors look very solid. You can also see some dents in front fenders, but nothing very serious. The engine cover is laying in back seat area, you can see it in pictures. Also we have clear title to vehicle. Its a ND title. Now for the bad news. The frame is bent. If you look close in pics you may see that for yourself, right behind cab. We dont want to fool anyone on the particulars of truck. This truck was used by a telephone company for years, and it had a boom on it, which we took off, as it made truck to heavy to haul. Over use of boom is what likely bent the frame. But, if it would be your thing to restore this truck, another frame is fairly easy to find. We can find here, as we know of several in salvage yards, with conven tional cabs on them. We have already determined frame is same on conventional trucks, with differences only in wheel bases. It has a newer V/8 engine. So you see we are not passing this off as a original truck. However, as this is a VERY rare body style it is worth restoration if this is your type of truck. The 6 cylinder engines for these are around. But we are actually hopeing to appeal to you street rodders out there, as this would make a excellent street rod truck to haul your street rod car, or antique tractor to shows. There is plenty of clearance between the frame and bottom of cab for most any V/8 or 6 cylinder engine of modern design. We have carefully looked over the underside of cab, and the way its built, and can tell you that putting on most any modern truck chassis is not to diffucult. A IHC or International or anyother modern low pro 1 ton or 1 1/2 ton chassis would be a great fit. Imagine a Cummins or International diesel powering this. But remember. Bidder buyer to detirmine use for themselves. Please dont bid unless you intend to complete the transaction. Since it is advertised locally, its subject to local sale, and we re serve the right to close or stop sale on Ebay at any time without notice. We can store for up to 6months free. We do have what we think is a very fair reserve. This truck is being listed for us by a friend, so questions should be asked knowing he has to get answers from us. We can email phone number if you want to talk about this truck. ONCE MORE, where can you find another truck like this one??
