Vehicle Detail
This is a matching numbers 1969 Triumph Bonneville with original paint. This bike is not one you see everyday. Most of these have been painted over the years. This one has not been touched. The motor has had a fresh top end rebuild last fall with new valves, springs, pistons, and the cylinder was powder coated. It has a Routt big bore kit on it. It has been on there for years. When I found the bike it had TT pipes and velocity stacks. Someone must have wanted to make a racer out of it in the 70's. I wanted to be able to ride it more than I worked on it. Thats the reason for the new pipes, mufflers, and air filters. The gas tank has been cleaned and lined with Kreem. I installed two new amal carbs this spring. It has a new clutch and tach cable. It also has a Pazon ignition installed and it starts on the first kick. Most of the original parts are on the bike or I have a few that I will include. I have one of the two clear hooters horns for the bike. The threads are stripped but I do have it. Most of the original lucas electrics are on bike, for better or worse. The wiring has been modified over the years due to bad connections and shorts. It is still positive ground though. The original Dunlop wheels are on the bike. The original K70 was on the rear when I found it. It has since been replaced. The chrome is fair, but could be redone if so desired. There are many things that could be done to make it much nicer if you want to go that route. Its no where near perfect but its too original for me to touch. You just dont find original paint that looks this good. It does have scratches and scuffs but is still presentable. the worst of it is on the front fender where it looks as if the horns may have gotten into it. The right side tank emblem has places around it where the screw hole was stripped out and the emblem moved. I have put some double sided tape behind it to keep it from moving. The speedo quit working about 300 miles ago. The smiths tachometer did not work and is in poor shape, but I have it. You could easily send them off and have them redone. I have put just over 1000 miles on the bike since I have owned it. The speedo read 3800 when I found it. The seat pan does bend at the rear near the handrail, but is intact. This seems to be one of the few design flaws for this year bonnie. The seat cover is original as far as I can tell. The only thing that has really had much attention, or alteration over the years is the engine. This bike runs and rides great. There is nothing like riding through the back roads on an old Triumph. I have tried to take plenty of pictures so that they could speak for themselves. Im sure there are things that I have forgotten to mention, so please ask questions if you have any. Payment due within 3 days of auctions end. Paypal is accepted with a 3% fee. On Sep-04-10 at 08:09:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Since the last pictures a Bunn Breather Kit has been added to the bike. This can easily be removed if not wanted. Also appears that the oil bag may have a small crack at the top. I rode the bike around 60 miles yesterday and noticed some oil on the bag and traced it to what I believe is a small crack at the very top. I have dropped the reserve accordingly as this is a small issue that can be resolved with a new bag or to tig weld up the old one and repaint it. Or you can ride it as is and wipe what little oil runs down on the bag off. It is not a major leak. But what triumph doesnt leak?
