This 1983 Mercedes Benz 500 SEC is truly a rare find. This is an actual AMG, not just bolt-ons body panels. It has the original "special" differential and aluminum trunk, hood and other body parts. These parts are impeccable. As you can see from the numerous pictures, the vehicle was very well maintained cosmetically, and no expense was spared in its mechanical maintenance over the years. It's just one too many projects for now. The original owners manual, tool kit, and the original spare is also in excellent condition. The exterior chrome and stainless are very nice. The car ran and drove strong and the transmission shifts smooth. This car was my daily driver for about six years before the engine quit. The car's undercarriage is also very clean and exhaust is in good shape. The car is fully loaded with power options such as moonroof, and the seat belt presenters work perfectly. The A/C blew strong and ice cold when it was running. This car is a very fine example of the one of the most beautiful Mercedes Benz pillar less coupes ever produced !!! The car is located in Oklanoma City, OK. The odometer says 110,000 miles but quit about five years ago. I estimate 170,000 miles. The engine……I don’t know. It doesn't run and seems locked up. It had jumped timing once before, may have again. I had just had new hydraulic lifters installed and it was being turned over when there was a couple of "clangs", then it locked up. It didn't happen while running. Everyone I talked to says it's probably bent valves and no major internal lower engine damage. The air pump on the engine had been removed but I have it and it goes with the car. I have an extra guage cluster I used to replace the fuel guage. I will send it too. Keep in mind that the car is 28 years old and it has a few imperfections, but there is NO rust or corrosion anywhere except the chrome wheels. The leather is cracked a little on the passenger seat due to sun damage, but not bad, but its there. There are a couple of bad seams on the driver's seat. Dash has a cap on it but looks great. The headliner has a couple of water stains. The wood trim is barely faded. Other than these issues, the interior is in good shape and working. The carpet is exceptional inside and in the trunk. The windows have been professionally tinted. The ac/heater worked great, but I can't demonstrate because of the engine. It has been converted over to 134A. All the windows, seats, seat belt extenders work. The original Becker w/cassette works flawlessly. It has new speakers all around. The body is flawless, no dents or dings. The chrome wheels in the photos need re-chromed. I've installed 14 inch wheels and tires that are in excellent shape. See pictures of both. The buyer can have either, but not both. I'll include an extra alloy wheel to be used as a spare, if the buyer wants. IF YOU ARE NOT FINANCIALLY READY, DO NOT BID.
