Vehicle Detail
This car is completely original and comes with the original operator instruction booklet and original title from early 1963. It was a Virginia car when it was new and is still in the Common Wealth of Virginia, where harsh chemicals are commonly used to de-ice roads in the winter. Therefore, it does have obvious signs of body cancer and needs metal work for those considering full restoration. Having said that, the car is in very good condition. The door hinges are all strong & doors open & shut very nice. The trunk has no cancer. In my opinion, this car is well on it's way to a very good restoration. It has a new sending unit in the gas tank and all the electrical seems to be in good working order. All of the glass is in very good condition. The RS tail light lens has been replaced to make it legal to drive, but is not original. The radiator hoses and fan belt are new, as is the battery also. All of the filters (air, oil and inline gas) have just been replaced. It will come with an extra inline gas filter because even though the tank was cleaned out quite well before going back in with the new sending unit, it would have taken more than I was able to give to be cleaned thoroughly. It also comes with the head, valve cover and both manifolds from the original engine. It is now sporting an engine 14 years newer than the car itself. There are 2 or 3 areas that would require minor body work in addition to the cancered out places. The frame is in need of serious work ahead of the passenger side floorboard due to rust. That is the main issue in need of attention. I did not get around to checking the brakes, but the car was last being driven legally in 1989; so the brakes more than likely need repairs. I can say the shoes on the RS rear don't show a whole lot of wear, though. This is a push-button automatic and may have a loose connection somewhere in the safety features because the engine would not turn over when turning the key. It has a new ignition switch and the engine turned over fine when shorting across the solenoid. I needed to get it listed now though in order to get the car sold in time for my departure from the area. This is the engine that has been installed http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300454104659&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT So rest assured if you view the pictures on flicker above that the engine you see there is NOT the one you get with the car.
