Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car since 1997 when I bought it used from a dealer with 39,000 certified miles on it. It needs to have the transmission replaced. If the bid is at least $1,000, I will replace it as part of the deal. Reconditioned transmissions may be had for about $250 plus installation. Otherwise, the car is in good mechanical condition and runs well. Brakes are good. Tire wear is fair. There is some minor creasing on the front right fender but the paint is not damaged. (I brushed up against a tree in my driveway.) The front bumper pad is missing. A replacement may be had for about $50. This does not affect the car's driveability or act as a safety concern. The bumpers are plastic. There are surface scratches on the rear bumper. There is also a slight crease in the upper area of the front left door just forward of the mirror. The piece of rubber molding on the front left door is unglued at the leading edge. Otherwise, the body is in good condition. The interior is in good condition with no flaws in the seats. Seats are cloth. There is a third seat in the rear. It has power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission with a stickshift style shifter, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows and doorlocks. Everything works. I had a CD player in the car and have taken it out but will supply the original AM/FM tape deck by Ford which came with the car. The wheels are aluminum. Technically, the car had a salvage title when I acquired it from a dealer who had repaired it. Apparently, the damage was on the front area and rear, possibly simultaneously, and thus the car had been declared totaled.at some point early in its life; hence the salvage title. But I have never, on close inspection, found any evidence of the damage and have never had any problems with the car as a result. It handles very well. I was assured that the damage was superficial, skin-type damage. I have no reason to doubt that. The undercarriage of the car is in pristine condition. I would not have bought it originally otherwise. I have driven the car 63,000 miles without any problems mechanically other than the transmission going out. It has been regularly maintained and the motor is sound. The car was last registered in California but is no longer registered. It is physically located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at present. The Kelly Blue Book value for this car listed with a private owner/seller for the area in which it is located, with its present mileage and equipment, and as being in "fair condition", without reference to the transmission issue, is $2,175.00. The "good condition" price is $2,735. Good luck bidding.
