Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile Bus 89,700 miles This bus has been a beloved member of our family for the past seven years. Now it is time to pass her along for someone else to enjoy. We bought this Westy in Southern California in 2003 and have stored it every winter since. She is a great runner, head turner, and a fun camper. With the dual battery setup and roof mounted solar panel you can listen to music, run the water pump, use the lights and 12V heater and never worry about draining your starting battery. We just returned from a 600 mile camping trip, she is tested and ready to run. The range works if a propane tank is hooked up to it, I removed the propane tank a while back for three reasons. (1) I didn’t feel safe driving around with a bomb strapped to the bottom of the bus. (2) Added ground clearance for getting back into remote camping spots. (3) Who wants to sink up their bedroom by cooking in it? Coleman stove is included for cooking in the side tent. This Bus includes the following: · Strong running 2.0L engine w/fuel injection · 4 speed manual transmission · Working sink and faucet · Ice box · Privacy curtains · Closet · Rear hatch bug screen · Camp stool · Rear dining table · Front child’s cot · Overhead light (above sink) · Swiveling passenger seat · Side tent · Starts, runs, shifts and stops as it should Upgrades within the last year: · Rebuilt transmission · New clutch · New starter · New alternator · Two new Optima batteries (Red Top 35 for starting and Yellow Top deep cycle 78 for accessories) · Added four 12V AC outlets (two up front and two in the back) · 12V heater with thermostat · RV style battery toggle so you never drain the starting battery while camping · Sunsei SE 1500 solar panel with charge controller · Five brand new Yokohama Y356 Super Van tires · Four KONI adjustable twin-tube shock absorber · Voltage gauge · Replaced all four CV joints · New scissor jack (much safer than original) · All new belts · All new fuel lines · New fuel pump · New muffler Other upgrades since I’ve owned her: · Oil pressure gauge · Oil temperature gauge · Cylinder Head temperature gauge · Tachometer · New headliner · New carpet · New water pump · Clarion MP3 compatible CD Player with 6” speakers in front door panel and 6X9” speakers in back · Replaced cushions in both the driver and passenger seats
