2004 Acura MDX TOURING & NAVIGATION Powerful Engine with Great MPG for SUV New it cost $44,409; Only 68,301 Miles Reserve set at $4,000 less than Kelley Blue Book Value My MDX is an awesome vehicle, that I will surely miss. It’s in great condition. Acura’s last for several hundred thousand miles, and as with all my things, I’ve taken lots of care of it so my MDX lasts even longer. According to Carfax, they lowered the score of this vehicle for two reasons- an accident and the low mileage. Well, the insurance claim was the result of a dent in the rear passenger door that occured while parked at the supermarket. It was the center of the door, about shopping cart height. Minor, and rather than having it filled, I opted for a replacement door, OEM Acura and installed by the area's top shop. As for the low mileage, Carfax's numer of 26k is not correct! Apparently, not all shops report to carfax (either that or Carfax has bad data); that is beyond my control. Each year I've gotten a NY State inspection, oil changes every 3k miles at the same shop, and I've brought it in to the Acura dealership. I do have receipts and I have listed the actual mileage in this auction. Be assured, this is a great vehicle, and I've greatly enjoyed every minute of it since purchasing it in 2005 (would I have kept it so long otherwise!) The only reason I'm selling it is due to my position was downsized, and I'm still out of work. I bought this in 2005 with 20,000 miles on it. It was in immaculate condition, they hadn't even taken the carpeted floormats out of the packaging, and were still using the rubber mats. It was the wife's car, and the husband was a Service Manager at an Acura dealership, so it was well maintained. She decided to buy a sports car; a year later she called to say she missed it, and wanted to know if I would be interested in selling it back to them, lol. They were non-smokers, and no pets, and the same for myself. When I bought this, I knew of the transmission issues with the previous generation MDX (2003 and earlier), so I installed an Auxiliary Transmission Cooler (as well as I’ve always changed the transmission fluid well ahead of schedule, every 10k miles). I also installed a Power Steering Cooler. BTW, it was eventually proven that Acura did resolve the transmission issue with the new generation 2004 model, and it has not been an issue for owners. Mileage is good for an SUV. I generally get between 18 – 19 mpg. Occasionally I’ll get a really good tank of gas and get around 23-24 mpg, with the best yet of 25.6 mpg over a 2 hour trip. Overall, expect 18-19 mpg. The tires I have mounted reduce mileage on average 1-2 mpg (greater rolling resistance), so a tire swap is potential increase if you aren’t looking for the ultimate in traction. It’s a large SUV with a design that provides a sporty and sleek look, nimble handling. Front inside width is greater than a Suburban of the same year. This MDX comes with all the electronics- a single CD player built into the AM/FM/Cassette Stereo, a 6-CD Changer under the Driver’s Seat, a DVD drive in the dash, and a Computer CD Drive under the passenger seat for the Navigation System. A very reliable car! Body Overall in great shape, bright and shinny paint. There are not dents or scratches. This has been driven, and like any vehicle that has been driven, it’s not perfect. It does have some small stone chips on the front, normal for a car that’s been on the highway. The area behind the left rear wheel has a few stone chips (it’s part of the plastic wrap around bumper). The front bumper has a ¼” x 1” paint scratch in the plastic, however the front plate goes over that. The windshield has a ¼”stone chip on the lower right side. My insurance company would replace it if it develops into a crack, but does not repair at this minor point. It’s small enough you likely would not notice if I did not mention. Interior The interior is near perfect. Carpets are mint, seats are mint. Dashboard, displays, controls are all perfect (there is a burned out backlight on one of the heated seat switches). In the cargo area, there are a few light scratches in the plastic on the lower interior side of the liftgate and a small crack on the interior plastic side cover (see pic close-up). No one has ever smoked in this vehicle, nor have any pets been in it. There are no smells, and its always been kept extremely clean! Chassis Is in great shape, a nice and tight ride. Tires I have mounted the best SUV Tire out there- Goodyear Fortera Triple Tread. Great in dry, wet, snow and not too noisy. They include the snowflake symbol on the sidewall, which most tires have not been awarded. There is approximately 64% of tread remaining.
