914 Targa 2.0 5 speed ***RELISTING SINCE THE PREVIOUS WINNER, GTTMIKE11, DID NOT PAY OR CONTACT US. PLEASE BE SURE IF YOU BID THAT YOU PLAN TO BUY.**** This black 914 is my daily driver. It is registered and inspected. This is a 2.0 5 speed from 1974 and is ready to enjoy. The 2.0 liter engine is the more desirable, and stronger, engine for these cars. It has the original fuel injection. The targa top is solid and all here, but the rubber needs to be replaced--it is fraying. Recently, I drove it down to where I live on the Texas Gulf Coast from San Antonio, about a three hour drive. This really is the most fun I have had driving. That said, I will say that it is really best for someone who enjoys (or doesn’t mind) fixing these cars up—there are lots of little things that need attention eventually—I had planned to upgrade the interior (the seats have rips), replace the non-working exterior door handles, replace most of the rubber seals, etc. over time. There is a small dent on the rear driver side fender that may pull out and the rear trunk lid needs an adjustment. There is also a small dent and paint chipping on the passenger side front flare. The muffler is loud, which I think sounds great, and it has some rust. There is some rust under the driver's side seat. Very minimal rust in trunk. The car leaks a little bit of oil, but not as much as others I have had. If I were to keep the car, I would slowly start chipping away at the rubber replacement (start with the targa top), and then replace/fix the door handles. The car DOES have two new valves, four new tires, and new KYB shocks and struts all the way around. I have only used Mobil 1 oil and oil filters. I have only driven the car about 1000 miles since the serious motor work. All work was completed by the same mechanic who is well known in Porsche circles. It is all he works on! It has had the heads and valves redone gas lines redone electrical rewire valve and gasket job New tires all the way around (less than 1000 miles on them) KYB shocks/struts put in all the way around It is a fun top down convertible to enjoy—especially in the fall and spring. Here is a car that you can drive and enjoy while you take care of all the small things. This is a car for someone to drive for FUN while they fix it up little by little. Even though I drove it down here from San Antonio, I would still recommend the car be trailered. I have no idea if the mileage is original or not--I am quite sure it is not. The car originally came to Texas from Oregon. You have to know that this car is not for someone who wants to get in a new car and enjoy cruise control and air conditioning. This is for someone who really enjoys driving and feeling the fun of handling a car. Some folks like these cars for Motocross, and still others have been converting them to electric cars (see You Tube). The dent/paint peel on the top of the front passenger side flair is a small dent with paint peeling in an area a little smaller than the size of a silver dollar. You can't see it in the first picture of the car, but it is there on the top side, middle of that flare--look at the last picture. Although it is small, about the size of a quarter, I am pretty sure that first pic was before the dent on the flare, but the rest of the pics are very recent. Also, as you can tell, someday the car could use a paint job! The nature of the bigger dent on the rear panel of the driver's side is pretty clear to see in the second or third pictures--that is the dent I mentioned would someday try to pull out. It is a little bit over the wheel well but does not interefere with driving at all. There IS rust on the muffler and the rust under the driver's seat is something you would eventually want to deal with, but is not a problem now. The dash is all there, but it is coming up a bit at the seam. The exterior door handles do not work, but the interior ones do. In the morning, it usually takes two or three turns of the key to get the car started, then I let it idle for a few minutes, and then it is great for the rest of the day--it then starts with one turn. I do have the blinds, though I do not have them installed. Windows work fine. There is some corrosion on the chrome around the fog lights--I had always meant to clean that up. Mileage will be a few miles more than stated--I have driven it a few times from Port Aransas to Aransas Pass across Harbor Island since the auction started. Awesome. Please look at and supersize all the pics and email any questions! There is a very very low opening bid. Remember, the super low BUY IT NOW offering will go away as soon as there is a bid. The car is being sold strictly as is where is with no warranties implied. It is a 36 year old car! If you are in the Corpus Christi area, I will be happy to show you the car.
