~~oo00oo~~ ~~oo00oo~~ Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1967 A timeless & elegant classic – completely original and of virtual show standard. This first of the Silver Shadow series is finished in Old Ivory with dove grey Connolly hide interior, highlighted with light gold/tan hand-painted contrasting fine pin-striping to the waist-line and hub-cap beauty rings. This car is the result of an uncompromised maintenance history to a remarkable degree. Owned by the second owner since 1973 and to then become a Rolls-Royce enthusiast, the car has many tens of thousands of dollars spent in very fussy maintenance. Some $25,000 alone was spent in the last few years. It has been displayed at shows and Rolls-Royce club meets. It is truly stunning and remains a show contender today having only traversed some 5,000 miles in the last 20 years. The best way to describe the excellence of this Silver Shadow is to imagine you bought it new in 1967, you drive it only 10,000 miles over the next 10 years keeping it garaged whenever not in use and completely “babied”. Pretend it is now 1977 and the car is virtually like new. This is the condition of the car today. As part of its "maintenance", the car was repainted - relatively recently. It was stripped to bare metal with all chrome off and repainted its original colour. The cost was in excess of $13,000. All bright-work was hand polished before reassembly. The fine-lines were hand-painted by one of the few remaining craftsmen of the art. The interior is in wonderful condition. Everything is totally original and nothing has been redone and yet still excellent. This is incredible as the wood and leather, in their own right, generally suffer the effects of aging under the most conservative conditions. This Silver Shadow has clearly been babied as the wood is in a amazingly great un-restored state and the leather, headlining, carpets; virtually perfect. It is stunning! The wood inside the car is African burl walnut throughout and has a beautiful rich grain that really “pops” against the grey Connolly. And, the factory commissioned picnic tables deliver a wonderful surprise when opened given the use of rich Mahogany on the tray side which is truly exquisite. The wood capping on the driver's door does have some very minor marks on the top surface but nothing that warrants sacrificing originality for re-finishing. All features and functions are fully operational with air conditioning, heating, windows and seats operating properly. Even the clock ticks away silently. As you would expect from a car of such standard, every light bulb, down to the most insignificant in the dash, work as they should. You will also see that all screws and fasteners on the vehicle are of original quality and “set” to factory standards. Even the radio is the original factory installed Motorola push-button radio. Mechanically, this Silver Shadow is complete with good hydraulics and brakes and a very smooth operating engine. Totally in keeping with its rigid owner maintenance. Notwithstanding, it has been fully work-shop tested to ensure everything is in top shape. I drove her on a 150 mile cruise this last weekend to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and she performed effortlessly. The 60,000 odd miles are not verifiable although the smooth operation of all the mechanicals and the overall condition of the car is consistent with a low mileage example. I would suggest the miles are indeed accurate. Tyres are original thin whitewall Michelin Xs which are no longer available. They appear to be in very good condition which means the car was most likely stored slightly supported to avoid long-term weight on the tyres. Naturally, the car comes with its original operating manual and correct jack & tools. ~~ The release of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in 1966 took the motoring world by storm and left even the most renowned luxury car manufacturers with dropped jaws and consumers in awe. It was to be the single most successful model ever to be produced by Rolls-Royce Motors. This one is a beautiful example and provides as an excellent all-round 9 out of 10 collectable. It has the makings for display registration at your next club show or simply take it as it is to your next Rolls-Royce & Bentley meet with confidence. ~~ Many more photographs are available at the following link. I highly recommended you view these to best ascertain the fine condition of this gorgeous example: Click HERE to see 100s of additional photos! ~~The Silver Shadow, in particular the early 1966 to 1968 model years, represent the dawn of a whole new model for Rolls-Royce with the then revolutionary monocoque body design. These early cars were the result of design and engineering over many years without the modifications that crept in over subsequent years to accommodate international safety design rules and requirements. The expansive wood dash-board, full chrome interior door handles and seat design were without the limitations set by emerging standards – most prominent in the US. This enabled the elegance of a plethora of burl walnut and chrome accents that exquisitely distinguished the “new” Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and presenting the cars as they were intended – not as they “needed” to become.~~ The photo below compares the Silver Shadow in “Old Ivory” (right) against the common “English white” Rolls-Royce (on the left). The warmer, richer “cream” colour of the Old Ivory Rolls-Royce on the right is classic. The photos in daylight do not pick up the timeless elegance of the “Old Ivory” colour, but it can be clearly seen in real-life. ~~oo00oo~~ ~~oo00oo~~ This Rolls-Royce is part of my private collection. I am not a broker or retail car dealer; I am a professional car collector of some 25 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take a lot of pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid of make an offer. You are bidding and/or making offers to buy WITHOUT conditions. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above, I reserve the right the keep the deposit and resell the vehicle by re-listing or to another bidder. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard but the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 43 years old. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-43 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country”. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars from where I bought them to my home. PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, DO NOT BID. ~~oo00oo~~
