Vehicle Detail
1992 Lexus SC 400 sport coupe For sale is my Lexus SC 400 2-door sport coupe. I have been driving this luxury sports car for the past 3 years. I absolutely love the vehicle, but I am forced to sell it at this time. There are good things and bad things with this car, so read my description carefully, as I don’t mislead or misrepresent my items. The paint was redone before I bought it. The car has a salvage title as it was in some sort of accident prior to my owning it. I was told that it was a minor front end issue with hood, fender, headlight and nose piece. There was no structural damage or frame damage, but because of the age of the car, it was totaled and a salvage title issued. It was at this point that a new platinum paint was applied. It is still very shiny and in extremely good condition. The only issue with paint/bodywork is the driver’s front fender (see picture). Here in the Wyoming wind, a slight breeze (70mph) caught the door when my wife was getting out. It kindly opened the door for her and forced the door skin into the fender. The hinge was NOT sprung, so it operates perfectly. To open the door, we had to gently persuade the fender metal with a rubber mallet. All of the glass is in excellent shape. The tires have about 60-70% tread remaining. The interior is in beautiful shape with no rips/tears. The carpet is in very good condition. All of the power equipment works fine, except for the power window switch on the driver’s door. It operates sometimes and then it won’t. The motor is fine…the issue is in the switch. The stereo is missing the amplifier in the trunk and does not work. I have used the car as my daily driver and with my commute lasting all of about 4 minutes; I don’t care about a radio. Now, here is why I’m selling this car. Up until two weeks ago, I drove it daily. It started to overheat and lose coolant, so I took it in to my mechanic. He tells me that it could be a head gasket. As I am looking to buy a 4WD for the upcoming winter, I have chosen not to put any money into this vehicle, so I’m offering it up for sale. We live on a precariously winding road on the side of a mountain, so the wife says I get a 4WD or I get the back end of a divorce. NOTE: The car starts right up with no problems and it runs perfectly. It just starts overheating after several minutes due to the lack of coolant. Once this issue is rectified, this car will be an absolute dream to own and drive. Unless you live only 17 blocks from my home, you’ll need to trailer this car home, so don’t plan on driving it to Hoboken! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email. This is a no reserve auction so high bidder gets it.
