Vehicle Detail
For your consideration is a 1968 International Harvester Travelall 1/2 Ton (1100 series) 4x4 w/ a positraction rear end. If you are tired of seeing ads that say "ran when parked" or "no motor or transmission" or "typical IH rust" then you may have come to the right place. This is a lifelong dry climate New Mexico vehicle that I use as a daily driver and I will let you judge from the pictures about rust. There is little to none. Old IHer's know where to look. It is equipped w/ a recently tuned V-8 engine 345ci two barrel carb(also just overhauled) with excellent compression. It has a 4spd manual transmission. The 122,000 miles are original. IH A/C unit is all there, but it needs a condensor. In Santa Fe, we don't need air conditioning. Positraction rear end along with 4WD means never getting stuck, ever, around the farm, deer lease, favorite river crossing, or mud bog. Power steering and electronic ignition make this truck a pleasure to drive. Equipped with front grille guard (non IH) and rear towing package. A rare factory original roof rack is also a plus. How many do you see with the roof rack? I own five of these old 64-68 travelalls, travelettes, and panel wagons and we are moving so I need to thin my herd a tad. This vehicle would make an excellent vehicle for full restoration. Power rear window works, all glass except passenger side rear(cracked) intact. I have a replacement window for that but it would have to be pulled and installed. Dual fuel tanks both fully operational. I would not advise driving any 42 year old car home, but this one would do it. Just drove her 400 miles recently. Why sell this vehicle? My other trucks are 1200 series 3/4 ton and although brakes parts are much harder to find for the 3/4 ton's, the three I have can interchange parts. My parts truck is also 3/4 ton, so my 1/2 ton is the odd man out. Again, IHer's would view the 1/2 ton's as easier vehicles to maintain and repair, primarily due to the 5 lug wheel pattern instead of the 3/4 ton's more difficult 6 lug wheel pattern. The usual no warranty expressed or implied. As is, where is. Also, this truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. You will not be disappointed in this truck. It drives like a dream, and it won't let you down.
