Vehicle Detail

I have relisted, came close to reserve, so another shot! For sale is my 1984 Porsche 944 in Guards Red (paint code: G1G1RE) with black leather interior. I purchased the car from the original owner, I have not titled it. It was purchased new at Herman and Miller Porsche/Audi in Parsippany, NJ on November 3, 1983 after a 10 month wait. The original wait was around 18 months, I have the original paperwork in which the owner ordered the Porsche on Februay 28, 1983 and paid a $500.00 deposit. This car is a one owner vehicle and includes the following documentation/items that are unique to a Porsche: the original window sticker (listed for $22,268 in 1984), the original bill of sale, the original sale agreement with the amount financed ( the rate was 13,75...wow), the original key tag used by the dealer to inventory the keys, the original sales brochure and the original keys for this Porsche on the key chain provided by the dealer. In addition to these items, also included is the original maint. book with all services documented until 1992; no more pages left. No worries, the service history continues with records for the 944 from 1992 until July of 2010. If you are a collector or car enthusiast, these documents are important and tell the story of the car. This is no used Porsche with unknown history, with multiple owners, treated with neglect. The service is current, this 944 was loved, garaged and will not disappoint. ** New information about this 944. I received a call from an expert and collector of these cars asking if I realized the significance of some of the options on my 944. The first, no sunroof. The sales brochure states that a sunroof was standard equipment, mine has no sunroof...hence a special order car. The steering wheel is 4 spoke. Then on the build sticker/card as well as on the window sticker, it lists the following... limited slip differential as well as stabilizers and sport shocks. This being said, the 944 is a track car built for racing, even though the original owner did not race it. Now I know why it is so fun to drive!!! Car also has original Fuch wheels! The 944 has 97,000 miles on it. That was 3,000 miles per year. So it was not a garage queen, but enjoyed as a weekend/2nd car. Garaged kept, but driven. The best way to enjoy a Porsche is to drive it! Below is a sample of the services in date order that were done after 1992 when the service manual ran out of pages: 4-8-93 Jorge and Jack Enterprises in New Jersey: full service, replace timing belt, clutch service $988.98/ no miles listed 1-27-94 same repair shop: replaced water pump and replace l/s motor mounts $1226.00/ no miles listed 4-29-96 same repair shop: full service, top off AC charge, distance. Cap and rotor, replace clutch $2073.00/47,533 miles 1-3-97 same repair shop: full service, replaced belts/timing belts, replaced heater valve, balanced tires $679.00/54,231 miles 3-8-2002 same repair shop: full service, belts/timing belt, oil coller gasket, clutch, 2 motor mounts $2309.00/83,309 miles 11-20-08 Pawleys Auto Center - full service, timing belt $2310.00/96,224 miles As you can tell, in addition to regular oil changes, she has been maintained! All service documents will be provided to the new owner. Overall Condition: The paint and body is in great condition for a 26 year old car. No door dings, just a beautiful car. The tires are in great shape, the interior is very nice and original. The driver’s seat shows wear, but in a classic, vintage way. I am very uptight about the way my cars look, I would not change the upholstery on these seats. The dash has some small cracks on the top near the air vents, not the massive cracks running down the front of the dash. These dashes, as were a number of cars from this era, were prone to crack. If this of concern, a dash cap can be purchased for less than 100.00. The interior is in great condition overall, there is a minor tear in the headliner, very small. The power window button for the passenger front window sticks from time to time when being rolled up. The original owner stated that the wiring needed to be cleaned or as small as the car is, you can easily reach to the passenger door to roll it up. Again, rolls down perfectly, the roll up from the drivers door depends on the mood of the car. Pass. Side window buttons works perfectly. Features: this Porsche has the following....black leather seating surfaces, original Pioneer AM-FM radio with cass., great AC, Limited slip differential, 4 spoke steering wheel, stabilizer and sport shocks, 5-speed, power windows.....see the window sticker for all the details. A little more about this Porsche! It's a blast to drive. A real blast! Well balanced, handles well, quick and responsive. It's a great way to enter the Porsche world without spending s fortune of money or buy an abused 944. Again, there are a few of these out there for sale, with multiple owners, abused and in need of repair! This again is a well documented car with one owner history! I am not asking a huge sum of money, just really trying to find the little car a great, new owner. Note, we have hot summers here in the south....the AC is great! A little about me. I am a regular guy who loves cars, all cars. American, European, Asian…. You name it. All years, etc. I look or should I say search for a classic car with the following: original owner, original keys, original sales documents, all maintance records since new, and a bonus is the original keys. I want to meet the person who owned and understand why they bought this car new, kept it for so many years and decided to sell. To sell what many people would consider a part of the family after years of ownership. Why do I seek this type of car? It’s just a hobby. I’m not a dealer, just looking to enjoy the car myself for some time and find it a great home. The next owner who will appreciate the car and take pride in owning it. Call me with questions. 843-469-2026 Thank you for looking!
