1974 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE. Classic!! Restored! (I'll be listing all the info and 20 photos later on tonight. Please don't bid, until I do so, thanks) On Aug-07-10 at 00:47:25 PDT, seller added the following information: 1974 Volkswagen Beetle, Classic! Here's a great example of this model which has been owned by the same owner since 1977! Starts up and runs well, tranny shifts good. In very nice shape in and out with NO RUST!! CALIFORNIA CAR! No holes in the floor pans. Some surface rust under battery is all. Body is in excellent condition with a recent paint job in the original color Gold. Chrome trim are not new, but in nice shape. Original wheels have been painted in a chrome/silver paint. Has 4 Triangle Talon GLS tires in good shape with lots of thread. Engine was power washed. I did order a nice black Trunk carpet, but ordered the wrong year and model!!!, I'm hoping to get a replacement before auctions end. I had a new carpet put it 80/20 Loop in black. Before I put it in I swept, vacuumed, wirebrushed, and applied rubber undercoating to the floor pans (see pic), just to be thorough. Rear cargo area's carpet is in great shape too. Seats were re-upholstered a few years ago in Brown vinyl (original color), and are in great shape and comfortable except for the rips in the driver's seat. Dash and console are nice and dash has 5 minor cracks. Has an old style radio that is not working, but I'm sure that you'll put in a CD player. Has a plastic center console, that can be removed if you don't like it. All lights work including interior light, wipers, horn, turn signals all are good. This is the SUNROOF model, crank handle; opens fine just needs a little shove on final crank to close all the way. The rear seats do have the seat belts, also has the cargo area shelf (in black carpet). Here are the flaws: I only have one plastic "VW" wheel center cap, the other 3 are missing. The driver's side mirror could use replacing. Rear bumper has to be pushed down a little to open engine lid. rear emblem is missing. Driver's side running board is dented (and both are "lumpy", but sturdy). Parking brake is not engaging. The headliner is intact but does have some old stain toward the rear. Doors do lock with key, but a bit sluggish, need to be oiled. I have the original pink slip (title) but registration just expired in June 2010. If you are the high bidder, and for whatever reason do not get the car, you forfeit your $200 deposit. I don't know the previous history on this car, just what I know personally. I go through the car and do a check list of what is working or not, and any defects. I also drive the car for a few days to see how she "feels". Car was bought at a Benefit sale and title is in the name of the donor , But it's signed by them, and I have the bill of sales that go with it. IF OUT OF STATE: Check with your local DMV (before bidding) if this is OK. If your state requires a title in the seller's name (me), then please don't bid. These cars are bought at a local benefit sale where the proceeds go to good causes. Most cars come from affluent communities where the owner's buy a new vehicle and donate there "old" one for a tax write off. I've been buying cars at charity events for years and everyone makes out. I particularly love the old classics (American and European models). In my opinion, nothing compares to the styling and designs of the classics. So keep coming back to see what I might have. I try to be as honest as possible about these cars and list what I know, but I'm not a mechanic or body repair person. I have done this for years and everyone has ben happy with the cars. On Aug-09-10 at 13:28:14 PDT, seller added the following information: ** NOTE ** I was told this could be the "Sunbug" edition (sold in California only), but I'm not sure if it is. has the sunroof and wheels of the Sunbug, but not the rear emblem or shift knob. Also, forgot to mention it has a small oil leak (big surprise)
